right so ran Simba testing my scripts yesterday and basically all night. i use a program called auto shutdown to make my computer hibernate about 15 minutes after the 6 hour limit cos 'ive been botting so much recently i thought i may as well have a night or two off. So just after turning on my computer to find there is a strange clicking noise every now and then coming from the back fan. i use a HP pavillion g6 laptop dual core. I'm pretty sure its the CPU cooling fan. Now over the past few weeks or so ive noticed an increase in the duration that the fans are on max speed and are quite noise. I've ran programs called core temp and sometimes my computer has reached like 81 degrees. At the minute with testing its running at 73 degrees and 74 degrees. would this sort of highish temperature kept constant have broken the fan?? and i mean like it could sometimes be this temp for about 3 hours??

oh and i now its not the click of death. its not coming from the hard drive.
do you think i should just try cleaning/and or replacing the fan or bring it to get it checked out?

E: oh and you know the way you can sorta lift up your laptop and tilt it forward and back, well i wouldn't call it a grinding noise.. but its similar to that sorta sound if you know what i mean.

I had a similar problem a little while ago. I downloaded Speccy and my CPU was at 100 degrees on occasions so my fan was on max near enough all the time. Opened it up, gave it a good clean and right now I'm running at 47 degrees. My suggestion would be to give yours a clean also (and see if the fan is broken at the same time) and then see what sort of temperatures you're getting.

depends on cpus, AMD runs very hot, generally speaking, while intel runs cooler. This may not be the case with more recent AMDs, but my first dual AMD box was running around 79 degrees with no load on it. You might want to check specs on your cpu
