**GETTING MOVED** - No clue why I posted this in Games -.-
Hey.

Just sitting here at home thinking about what my next modification on my car will be..

I have a Holden Commodore VY 2003 White Lumina.

I am thinking:

• Lower it more
• Remove spoiler and fill in the holes with gromites
• Buy a new white boot-lid without a spoiler and get my whole car re-spray-pained
• Sound system
• Exhaust system
• Install fog lights
• Custom number plates

Let me know what you think as I am really stuck

If I was to get Custom number plates, this is what it would look like.

I'd go with some blue neons under the door and some silver rims. Or just sprYpay paint the black ones silver.

Not a fan of neons to be honest (plus they are illegal in Australia). I really think the black rims with the white car match, I had the option to get silver rims but didn't like the look of them

Not fully sure why, but if the police pull you over you will get a defect (meaning you need to get them removed before you are able to drive) IMO its not worth the waste of money getting them installed then having to remove them.

Well according to my brother-in-law I am able to just swap the springs over so lowering it will be free :) thing is, I don't want to be scraping over every bump I go over as I have 20" rims.

Leave the spoiler on. I would do the exhaust, then fog lights, then sound system.

Why do you think keep the spoiler on?
exhaust will cost me $1500 so its kinda at the bottom of the list :S

Just a suggestion as well…If your car hasn't already got them what about some xenons?

I got a $2000 sound system in my wrx, but now i have a family with 2 kids and I need to get rid of it but don't want to! Maybe you should consider these things when upgrading? But i love my sound system and its the best thing i have done, love cruising around in.

Not planning on having kids any time soon. I am sure I would of sold this car before I start a family :P

Exhaust is better than a sound system, trust me. If you wanted to go all race car type, you could build a custom block or head. I'm building a GSR head for my car :)

I'm thinking about buying Hurricane Extractors with flow cat converters (brother-in-law has told me this) as this is the best on the market atm

For something simple I would second the intake or maybe exhaust. Turbos are a pain to install coming from something stock.

Turbo is the last thing you want to do. My car can run 10lbs easily with stock internals. I want to run 15 soon, but I have to get new internals.

Getting stuff installed is not a problem, as I get someone else to install it for me :P

Really leaning towards an exhaust system….

I'd get a super charger instead of a turbo, my 2 cents. Also please don't get fog lights, whenever I'm driving and someone has those they blind me hc.
Edit: how much was your car?

It all really depends on the car. Do you want top end or low end power? Top end should go with turbo, since it will lag at the start and spool up.

I'm going to put yellow fogs on mine :)

black out your tail-lights along with all the logos, or clean the back with no model/logo.
Never heard of that car lol, but remembering from your old thread it's not from the US nor do they have them here.

Also you should look into a body kit (skirts/front/back), than drop it a bit…
Get some some 12s/15s and a badass amp… You'll kill the streets haha

If you do decide to get a sound system which include some subs, instead of getting two crappy ones go for one decent one. I picked up a Ground Zero Radioactive 12 SPL (GZRW30SPL) on eBay for under £100, and it's much better than two cheap subs would be for the same price.

The reason why I still have the badge on my boot is because if I take it off, there will be 2 holes in my boot and I don't want to have to do a backyard job to patch it up.

I paid $12,999 AUD for it with 160k on the clock,

A performance boost would be good :P

Finding a body kit that will suit my car shouldn't be too hard, maybe I might start looking for one… never thought of getting one.

I love my sound system so I would go with one for you. They make the drive so much more enjoyable. I absolutely love bass so I have two 15s in my car with a 3200w mono amp. Honestly the best item I have ever bought.

If you want a nice system go to http://www.sonicelectronix.com/ you can get a very nice system for cheap and its brand name stuff. I would look into the Alpine type R's my friend had some and they hit hard and had such a clear sound it was amazing.

I recently bought a 2006 brand prix base and was thinking about getting a sound system or atleast some subs. if i do get them where would i put them or it. would i have to tear up the back and put it in? i heard somone said in the trunk but wouldn't that ruin the quality when your driving?

Edit: oh and by the way, when looking at the first picture…those little arrows TOTALLY got me. i kept clicking them. :\

If you are leaning towards an improved sound system, you might want to look at this project; I thought it was rather neat. My vote is still for a mechanical change to the car, though.

wow thanks thats cool. My dad actually used to make these types of thing back when i was a baby. he's totally make the box and have it so you can remove it, or he would alter the vehicle in order to install them. He's not around anymore but all his stuff is :) muauahha. i actually think i've seen some Subwoofers around. i think it was a 3 piece set. Either way thanks for showing me this i'll probably think of something.

Was driving around town with some mates tonight, turning a corner and hit the gutter a bit hard, chipped my rim… Looks like I am heading off to get it patched up -.-'

ouch that sucks! i went through all of the speakers and subs or w/e by dad had… the foamy part around them is extremely weak. one touch and it just goes to does. there was one that was still in its plastic wrap and in a box. through the clear plastic i noticed that there were lines on the grey foam part like on the other ones i found. opened that hoe up and it was the exact same… -.-… i found some real tiny ones.. a little bigger then the size of a dollar coin. they are full plastic and were in their original packaging. i found two packs and both packs have two inside. what are these for? maybe i can put some of these to use.

EDIT: the tiny ones were in a plain white box probably the exact same size of a gameboy color. width and length. there was plastic around the box. there are some numbers and letters but google couldnt find anything. seriously 2 links found and they have nothing to do with sound.

Kyle summed up my thoughts.

Improve the cars performance (exhaust etc. what u can afford) then fog lights, stereo system from there.

I really want to put a new stereo system with computer in my car. (an actual computer Atom cpu and wireless etc.)

I'd get a new car to be honest…no point putting in more money than the car is worth, it has no re-sell value.

I never understood the obsession with modifying a car except when it SAVES money.

The correct performance upgrades will save you money also when your driving a lot, better acceleration for traffic is very nice let me tell you. If your driving every day for hours you want a good stereo etc.

Nah not adding NOS to my car, I don't even want to see if its legal in Australia, VIC…

Lower the front a bit more if you're running chopped springs, Cant do much performance wise cause of p's apart from a few things like exhuast/extractors,
Go wingless if you've got the cash to splash and get a decent sound system .
Then supercharge on your opens or trade in for a v8!

Nah man got SSL's in at the moment, didn't cut my springs.

Well VicRoads are thinking about removing the turbo ban for all P-plates so I might just wait awhile :P

lucky about the lifting of the turbo doubt itll happen in QLD :(
totally agree with lifting it though, cause there are so many loop holes to get a performance car if you've got the cash aka s2k,s15 etc .

Ehh, I am fortunate enough that I only do about an hour of driving a day total. So my vehicle that I hardly use is fine the way it is (except now it needs a fuel pump haha).

Please for the love of all that is good, do not just get a subwoofer. If you want good sound, first get nice door speakers (or even some 6x9's in a box) with a nice 4 channel amp. Then get a sub and a sub amp. It's so annoying to hear someone only have bass. You need the whole package.

Always had a massive soft spot for the 350Z. That is a nice looking car!

Don't black out the lights, that's just lame. I agree with tint though, if you don't already have it.

Yellow fog lights would look good. They're not bright, they just add a nice glow to the front of your car.

You could get an interfooler :p It's an air intake that sits and looks like a front mount (intercooler), and people will be scared to race you :p

Meh I'm not really a fan of pimping your car with new exhausts, turbo and things like that. I actually don't own a car myself yet but I wouldn't pimp it, I like to have it simple. I would go for a sound system as that is actually nice to have :P One thing I might do is changing the lights or blacking them out other than that I just keep it simple xD

I don't like 350's :p However, the car is clean, and the headlights are smoked out, not blacked out. It's actually a big difference.

such a clean ride again and I reckon leave the headlights clear and stock and not put those gay altezza lights in (Y)

I've become a fan of the stance scene so I would say get some sick wheel fitment :P Personally I would raise the back a little, put some small spacers in to bring the wheels closer to the fenders and drop the front a little.

Heres something that looks pretty sick, it's a Pontiac G8 but they are the same shell just different front ends

Brake Calipers painted tomorrow xD

exhaust/extractors as stated many times before in this thread. Don't go for too big a pipe or you'll start losing power and sound like a fool. Not sure on rules in vic but tint your tail-lights and IMHO modify your car to make your driving experience more comfortable. If that means really loud-bassy music, then whack a sound system in, too.

Personally I prefer to do all the modifications myself, I've tinted my tail-lights, installed interior and exterior neons for a short while (got defected, was fun while it lasted but there goes $300 down the drain), installed 4x speakers my head-unit, amp and 2x 12" kickers. I even made my own custom MDF sub-boxes moulded to the shape of my boot. I find it more of a hobby and enjoy doing what I want to my car and feeling slightly accomplished when it turns out the way I wanted.

Should check out P-plater mods on youtube if you are interested in the DIY side of things, if you're not, go nuts! It's all about how much money you have to spend on it.

More aggressive fitment would be much better imo. Looks like those kicks were a big smack to your wallet. I recommend selling those and going with a new setup with xxr there cheap and very good replicas. something like 17x9.5 with no more then +25 offset would be perfect with 225/45 tires for good stretch. xxr 527 or 521 would look perfect. Only probably would that you would need camber plates to get rid of the rub of wider wheels like that.
