Simba 0.99-rc5

Wizzup?

2012-05-13 16:23:55

Good day everyone,

If you were awaiting the 0.99 release - it's not here yet, but it's very close. The reason that I've delayed the release is that Simba has seen quite a bit of work the last few days. To such an extent that I decided to extend the release date just a bit, to make sure 0.99 will be one hell of a release!

Post below will probably look a bit official, but that's because I wrote it for 0.99 initially.

Download Installer: http://nala.villavu.com/downloads/master/14a58e0f638441eb16741db9be0945fa404d7a03/SimbaInstaller.i386-win32.exe

All downloads: http://nala.villavu.com/downloads/master/14a58e0f638441eb16741db9be0945fa404d7a03/

Go forth and test. :)

E: Lape plugin support needs libffi placed in the Simba folder. It's still experimental, but you can find it here: http://wizzup.org/libffi-6.dll (x86, Windows). Linux users should already have libffi installed. x64 windows users are out of luck, for now… (rename libffi-6.dll to libffi.dll)
E2: Updated download URL for a slightly new version.

Changes since 0.98:

  • Installer ships with PDF and HTML documentation. (See the folder Documentation/ in your Simba folder)
  • New Settings Form. (Tools -> Settings)
  • Plugin backend rework; support for multiple ABIs.
  • Experimental support for plugins in lape. (Complex types are buggy)
  • Latest and greatest Lape. You can now run most SRL scripts on Linux and Windows. You just need to use the EIOS-capable smart.
  • Simba is portable by default. If a system wide install is required by some users, this can be arranged.
  • The non-portable version of Simba now respects user directories on both Windows and Unix (with XDG support).
  • More hash/cipher functions.
  • SQLite support. (If the sqlite3 library is available)
  • Major settings backend rework.
  • Added Version to Simba's UserAgent.
  • Support for JPG/PNG in TMufasaBitmap.SaveToFile (and in SaveBitmap)
  • Formatter extension to nicely format your scripts.
  • Examples/ directory.
  • SendKeys now also has keymodwait
  • onScriptOpen and onScriptStart hooks for extensions.
  • Crash logger. When something goes wrong, Simba will attempt to write a log to a file. You can then choose to keep running Simba or terminate it. (I feel this is the most experimental feature)
  • Initial support for loading a bitmap from clipboard in the bitmap convertor.

Bugs (from bugtracker) fixed:

  • [0000404]: Ctrl + Space Function List,, Make it Resizeable
  • [0000409]: Warning @ no memory manager set
  • [0000406]: BitmapExists()

  • [0000370]: Control + Space broken.
  • [0000360]: Script formatter?
  • [0000314]: Settings.xml should be written more often
  • [0000293]: Add a Report Window to Simba

  • [0000283]: Length(s); and GetArrayLength(var arr);
  • [0000251]: Custom XML files

Lol, well done, that was the first thing I noticed :p

Well not really… great work here Wizzup and all those who helped towards the development of this.

The Crash Logger looks good and I'm glad Simba finally supports JPG and PNG.

Can't wait for the official release of .99!

Ok here are some updates on what I noticed most:

  • First of all, the ability to resize the Ctrl + Space Functionlist is simple amazing, I no longer have to keep checking back to the documentation.
  • Talking about documentation, the fact that it is now in my Simba folder is a great idea - now no one can say they didn't know it existed
  • The new settings menu is much more user friendly and allows me to have more control over my Simba - which is fab
  • That little cross in the side functionlist is a nifty little tool, I'm loving it
  • For some reason I can't find the formatter extension?
  • Also, the crash logger seems to be working fine

Is this what the Crash logger is supposed to do?

ErrorLog_14-05-12_06-00-52
Program exception!
Stacktrace:

Exception class: EListError
Message: List index (172) out of bounds
$0043C53F
Simba Version: 990

If I remember correctly I think it gave me the option to keep Simba running, not sure though :duh:

Keep up the good work!

Yes and Yes.

The formatter extension should be in the extensions folder… Quizzup might have forgotten something…

All unhandled exceptions used to all most always kill Simba.
Now we catch them all and add the option to "try" and keep going (which eventually may lead to a real crash)
Simba does try and save the script before dieing now.

Alright thanks for that info.

Seems like either Wizzup forgot it or I need to re-install. Oh well, I'm happy :)

Thanks for the positive feedback. I hadn't included the formatter extension because I figured not everyone would want it, and that scripters could manually download it. I want to take a final look at it before I provide it to everyone.

As for that EListError, I think you've stumbled on what I call Simba's most ancient bug. The person who fixes that will get something special. ;)

E: Should that function list 'X' also focus the search of the function list? Might be useful.
E2: I added the feature mentioned ^.

I tested the function percentblackmm and would always get 0 in the top of lummy castle with this release. I downgraded back to SIMBA 984 and it worked… IDK watsup.

Edit: Ill be more detailed later.

OK. I performed some tests:

-Basically opening up SMART several times on several SIMBA's.
-Then, via SRL, logging in and waiting a few seconds.
-Then, calling PercentBlackMM() and running the script again 2 times after waiting a few seconds.

Results:

On SIMBA 984 - Works great.
On SIMBA 99 rc4 - Works great.
On SIMBA 99 rc5 - Resulted 0 all the time.

Edit: I ran a script, and you can tell that something is messed up… Find more colors than its supposed to, not finding certain colors.

Give the latest master a go; I fixed a few serious issues wrt library loading. It appears -dDynamicFFI was not defined and Simba never started if libffi.dll was not in the Simba directory.

Yago, I think I know the issue. It's probably related to the FilterPointsPie updates.

That is no excuse! This kind of lazyness will normally not be tolerated. You're lucky I am in a good mood…

Also, on an other note, Sorry for breaking FilterPointsPie. I didn't tested it enough to see that 0,360 would not work. It should be fixed now ;).

It fails to find certain colors at times and I think it finds to many at others, but I don't know if I'm the only one or what and I don't want you to commit anything for an error on my part.

I know it works great on 99 rc4, but not the new one you gave me. Ill test if it has to do with certain CTS.

Edit: Apparently I did something wrong or something. It works now. Its odd though, because i tested it more that 2 times on different characters and SMARTS. Thank-you though :)

The issue is with a new SPS plugin. I'm not sure if it's the plugins updater or not (but it can be compiled with the latest SPS source from SRL/SPS on git). I was getting an access violation with the new plugin with rc-5, and Wizzup? said to let him deal with it (I think) because I've been busy.

The only thing I can see that is different is yours says "ExtensionCount to 9" my one says 8 (not sure if that matters ?).

Yeah, that has been dealt with. I've written a new plugin ABI as well. Mind that you need the latest SPS for that. Backwards compatibility is kept, but for the bug to be fixed we'll also need to push the latest SPS for Simba 0.99 (new SPS won't work with old Simba's so beware)

When testing, please use the latest Simba master and not 0.99-rc5, there are some more bug fixes.

Welcome back. :p

Wiz, rc5 broke all GameTab functions :S

Highlights:
High(TPA) as error exception: Out Of Range. This happens regardless of the length of the parameter passed.

I'll try it again but it's been like the 50th time in a row upon compiling. Only way I get scripts to run is to comment out the lines that use such functions.

Other than that, I like the fixes in it.
