Were you Referred to SRL?

What is your general programming knowledge?

Please copy/paste script into your application, most people like it better that way!
Just saw the length of the script and the debug picture on your thread, WOW sweet debug this looks like AMAZING work!
How'd you learn this all :D!

Being a SRL Member is also a community rank. Your script won't be the problem for sure. I will wait to see what the others vote.

Also, a small side note. Why do you type var in front of every variable? It could also look like:
var
MAXX, MAXY, indexX, indexY: Integer;
X1,X2,Y1,Y2 : Integer;
BOX : TBox;
MidX, MidY : Extended;
ChosenColor : Integer;
XCenter, ZCenterFromY : Extended;
PointOfInterest : TPoint;
TotalPointCount : Integer;

Oh bla we don't need to ask every single applicant this question!
From what I can see from his hard work on the script, and his posts, he's a good guy who deserves it!

Zmon, voted yes. Looked through your script and i love it! Your thread is full of welcoming and helpful words of advice :)

Btw, will you make some tutorials on this grid system and how you linked it with your minimap to draw the edges? I know theres something similar but multiple lessons cant hurt :)

I just wanted to pm you to suggest applying with your runespan script.
Great debug, nice script. I especially like the way it ignores several areas of the screen.

You are definitely one of the few I want to see as member, however you should be more active in the community.
I am sure you will improve on that, I will vote yes.

Well done, good luck and keep up the nice work. :)

2012-05-13 06:49:53

The script is really nice, I think you did a great job. Your activity, on the other hand, is strictly limited to just to discussions within your own (single) script thread. The only help I've seen you give out is also limited to that single thread. As previously stated, being a Member is not limited to having a well-built script, it's heavily tied in with your place in the community as well as your general attitude.

I'm not going to vote, but if I did I'd probably vote against it.

Rich

2012-05-13 07:15:32

Yes your script may be decent, but that's not all what SRL Members is about. In five months you've got 86 posts, all but 2 of which are in the Scripts section (and the two in this app). There are no posts which show you helping anyone else out in the Help sections or generally taking part in community discussions, and that's why it's a no from me.

Abu

2012-05-13 08:01:53

Community
Unfortunately, having been here longer than me, you're Activity is below par and being an SRL Member is dependent on being a good community member.
You need to work on this by posting more (non - spam) and just generally being a a good and likable guy around the forums :)

Script
Honestly, the most complex script I have ever seen. From what you told me, you've been scripting since I was born and your experience might just what SIMBA needs to go to greater lengths of achievement.

However, your script is not all cushy cushy :p
Just a few pointers here:

No need for begin..end for one line statements.
if (MatchingModels[index].XP <= XPFilter) then
begin
if (secondaryFollowed) then
begin // not needed
break;
end; // not needed
end;

Also, you can delcare multiple variables under var, there is no need to create separate lines for each one.

Also, maybe make a few tutorials on some of those advanced functions you use?

Thanks and holding my vote for now :)

I think this belongs to "scripting style". I also like to write it like this, because I get used to do so (with a TAB, it increases readability imo).

Great script.

A few extra Begin/ends though.

You haven't really helped the community, I.E go to Help section and help people, write tutorials, stuff like that. Most of your posts have been in the Runescape Scripts section. I'm going to withhold my vote for now, I'll come back later and vote, rest assured. Good luck.

Why don't just have a look at the script? :P
If you mean the "3D functions", it is just simple math. Would be easier to read and much "clearer" when done with matrices, but this way it works the same.
(I think the 3dprojection.simba include works the same? Sry, I don't remember who created it)

You have the scripting down pat, no questions asked. However, from the community side, you're not quite there.

2012-05-13 15:34:23

Your scripting is amazing and I would love for you to join the ranks of SRL member.

Yes as far as my coding style, i know very well that i don't need to put begin/end around single line statements (and i sometimes don't) but when i have more than one line and eventually delete one, i don't necessarily reformat so if you saw:

if (something) then
begin
Exit;
end;

consider that it may have been

if (something) then
begin
do some very extensive debugging so that i can make sure it is correct;
exit;
end;

and i have just removed the debug once i was sure.

as for my vars of course i know i don't need one per line, that is just how i roll, i've always written pascal out that way ever since 1988 when i started with it and i just like how it all lines up. Of course i don't even need to put one variable per line as i mostly do, but again, that's just my coding style.

as far as why i want to be srl member - well technically i don't know. i don't know what it entails, but i suspect that if i have time to help, i can be more useful that way

and as for the posts… versus longevity

i don't like to post guesses, so until i was sure i knew enough, i was silent. if you ask me a question, i will tell you that i don't know rather than mislead you with guesses, but conversely if i feel that i don't know, i keep silent, that's just my nature

and i didn't spend that much time with whole samba/srl to feel like i knew enough until few months after i created my account here

i am a quiet person, and if you expect a lot of post then i am not necessarily the right one, but if i do post, i make sure i don't post bogus information.

What is your general programming knowledge?
deep…., not sure your form will take it all and i'd probably leave out most of it because memory doesn't serve me well :P

The only thing I have a problem with is that you seem very cocky about how you can script. I voted yes, but… ugh I just hate cocky people- not saying that you are a cocky person, just that some of your comments seem like it.

Joe I think there comes a point when you can state your skills in an area as deep, especially if it's what you do as a professional. Not sure if I posted yet or not, but I voted yes

Yeah, I'm just saying that the way he tagged the comment afterwards seemed kind of cocky.
He could've written: Deep. I'm quite familiar with Delphi, Pascal, Java, etc.

Anyways, good luck with the application- be on the lookout for people who need help because you are most likely able to help the.

His programming knowledge:
assembly 3000, 65xx, Z80, 808X, 80X86 etc, Basic, C/C++, C#, Delphi, … and more

He's also a Principal Software Engineer.

I think it may be hard for him to list all the programming languages he knows :p

I guess that is pretty impressive

yeah you are right i could have

but i have been professionally developing for about 20 years and i have experience with all kinds of languages and systems, i mean i worked on embedded systems, on slot machine systems, digital scale interfaces and drivers, windows 3.1+, linux 0.99+, aix, hp-ux, solaris, wrote drivers for vmware esx server, wrote networking drivers, wrote communication systems to interface with all sorts of SMSC and paging networks, and also for iridium the satellite phone and messaging provider, got a patent, work with databases that have billions of rows, running both on oracle and sql, but have had experience with every major database systems … and of course that all came with a plethora of programming languages

it is precisely because i don't like to be cocky that i left it all out ;)

edit: i left out bunch of stuff, but i don't think that's relevant, as i said before, if i know something i'll chime in, i'm quiet otherwise most of the time, i prefer my work do the talking for me

I voted yes. I don't know how people can say the dedication to your runespan script isn't "being a part of the community". The fact that it's AIO and you're always trying to keep it up to date… it's not like you're doing that all for yourself >.<

You'll do great in the community. I hope Yo see you on the other side =P

your scripting ability is phenominal, and more than makes up for the lack of posts. With more scripts of your talent, simba could give reflection bots a run for their money, in both speed and accuracy

I'm voting no because you make me feel inferior.

Your coding abilities are certainly not in question. Your community participation is low, but I sense a kindred soul. ;)

i am a quiet person, and if you expect a lot of post then i am not necessarily the right one, but if i do post, i make sure i don't post bogus information.

Yes from me.

E: Well, just know that it would have been a yes. (The poll is closed.)

Doesn't matter - it was done with good feedback and an (intentional) yes vote, not by bumping so it really isn't an issue.
