Hey

I'm looking for some advice about the release of my great orb project script. It's nearly done but I'm not sure what I'm going to do with the script once it's done. It has been my biggest project so far (5 weeks of scripting) and I'm glad it's nearly done now, functioning well.

Now for the release part.. There are negative and positive things about a couple different releasing types. Options:

• Full script public release
• Full script SRL Member+ release & no public release
• Full script SRL Member+ release & Lite version for public release
• SRL Member+ lite version & no public release

Full script public release:
Might crash the prices, script will probably get leeched, etc. On the other hand I will get a lot of responses (I hope) to improve the script, if possible. One of the other reasons I might do a public release is because I can show anyone what I've made because I'm pretty proud of making it. Showing the code is different than showing a video.

Full script SRL Member+ release
Well I'm not a SRL Member yet but I think that this script is SRL Member worthy. It has never been made before in the nearly 4 years it exists (Simba script). So I hope it will be SRL Member worthy. I have no idea how those forums look but yeah.

Full script SRL Member+ release & Lite version for public release
SRL members get the full script and everyone gets a lite version. The lite version should still be able to get a decent amount of tokens per hour.

SRL Member+ lite version & no public release
Yeah well this option has actually close to no chance at all. At one point I was thinking of this but I don't really see it happening

Please vote the poll, but most importantly, leave a reply. Will be deciding what I'm going to do based on the poll (25%), responses (50%) and my own idea (25%)

The only useful thongs that this does it get tabs to teleport to altars so it can't really crash any prices afaik…. might as well public full release because Runespan is out anyway.

Water talismans are 8k each and you can get around 1500 tokens/hour. That's 30 water talismans is 240k/h for f2p, which isn't bad. But currently there are just 10-20 people playing this minigame, and if I would release it publicly I think there will be a lot more people.. depends on the popularity though. If a total of 50 people would be playing it after I release it, the prices would probably drop significantly and it can be used to gold farm. Best way to make money in f2p as far as I know.

But yeah once the prices have crashed, the only other useful things are the tabs. And those are actually really useful as you can craft a hell of a load runes per hour using those tabs.

The best money making method for non-members is to buy Water talismans, which are usually the most expensive free-to-play talisman at 7,152 coins each.

Free players can get up to 750 tokens each game, equating to 15 water talismans in 14 minutes and 30 seconds. Free players can potentially earn up to 444,000 coins per hour.

Currently leaning towards a public release.

Releasing this script to the public wont crash prices at all, there are already free scripts out for natures/astrals/other runes.

I second what Jokester said, there are a ton of people using the runespan bots on this site, only a very few of them will use this bot if its released, not to mention how very few people know what the GOP minigame is and what it does.

water tallys are also dropped from waterfiends, galcors, and other monsters. They are also used to make geyser titans, so it wont be that much of an issue. If anything, I would use this bot for the tabs and the master runecrafting robes anmd the omni-staff. GOP wont catch the attention of those botters who want gp via selling water tallys.

Let everyone get some of it. It makes us feel better :)

I think some people will gold farm it anyways, because it basicly is a f2p version of the Sorceress Garden. I believe that makes around 200k/h now, and this script should be able to make the same or possibly even more if you would take over your own world and let 50% of your bots win all the times. But yeah, it is pretty unknown but good methods tend to get spread rather fast.

If / once they crash it will still be a good method to get the runecrafting altar tabs :P

Right now most of the people that have voted wanted a public release, but most of the people that have voted aren't SRL Members :P I think I'll just release it to the public because some of my code is in my dev blog anyways.

Water Tallys were massively farmed through GOP pre-nuke… It was one of, if not the best F2P goldfarming methods. With that said, during the short time that reflection/injection clients were back up, there were 2 GOP scripts that I know of, and IIRC, GOP was hardly effected. This is an even smaller community, so I wouldn't worry too much about it.

I'd love to finally get a set of master runecrafting robes :spot:

Back when the injection guys released GOP bots, water tallys fell down to to 2k. I'd rather see them around 9k but that's impossible now that 50 RC is so easy.

JJ, I wrote one for RSbuddy and honestly was one of the biggest mistakes releasing it (eventually made VIP). Great work and all. Use it to apply for members, and you will get in but it'll ruin the minigame if publicly released. Ultimately its your choice, just my opinion. Great job.

I say hold off on releasing, and apply for Members with it. Then, release a full version there and a lite version publicly.

Listen to Kyle. I voted SRL members full with public lite. It's like a tease of what you can get if you become an SRL member. You should apply with it- make sure you have testers before you apply though (preferably SRL members+), it will give you some feedback on possible improvements and fixes. If you make this script public, you will probably get a lot of leechers, but a lite version with restricted options (ie. only repels, doesn't make runes, doesn't walk, no proggy) then people will want the full thing. If you want you could just apply now anyway- it looks phenomenal! Great work and good luck with your vote turnout!

The community is actually larger than you might think :P Especially if people know that they can gold farm they will simply register to get the script.

Yeah they will definately drop anyways because of RuneSpan. Most people have no clue what they are doing though.

Thanks for the reply ;) I'll definately take this into consideration. Right now I'm leaning towards releasing it only for SRL Members, and possibly making a leeching script later.
Leeching script just really leeches and does nothing else like crafting runes etc. :P Or I might just keep it SRL Member+ alone.

Seems like a good idea. The 'community' around GOP is pretty nice and by releasing it publicly I would indeed ruin it.

Yeah that seems like a good idea. The lite version can just really leech it. If it just makes barriers all days long it won't get kicked, but it will just get 60 tokens I believe. I can make it walk to the altar it camp there or something.

I don't want to claim that my script is the best or something, but everything is dynamical. I've made a couple main procedures that rely on the results of the others. If anything goes wrong the results will be false and it will just try again or use a failsafe :P Haven't really seen it make any major mistake yet, but others might look at it differently. I think I'll let some SRL Members test it.

Well obviously more people will vote public because they only have access to public scripts. That being said, I would say that it is up to you to make the final decision. I personally would say release it public because it will not do any harm to anything, it simply gets you tokens does it not? For this reason it wont be over abused (or so I would figure). Thats just my 2 sense. Lite version would be fine also.

I have honestly never even heard of this minigame. The only thing I would personally use this for is to get the robes, but then again, i've lasted this long without them I don't care if I don't get them and it saves the economy or doesn't ruin another mini game.

By the way, making a public poll is kind of a biased result from the getgo- you have a 50% public release demand… I can garuntee at least 10% of those are leechers.
It looks great, and you shouldn't ruin the GOP for other legitters.
Anyways, it IS your script and you are in full control of where it goes.

I'm pretty sure that I've explained my way of releasing in the first post.. not sure haha. But yeah, I will be basing it on the poll, the reply's and my own opinion. Yes, but I can see who voted for what option. I won't make a decision purely on the poll. And I will value the votes of SRL Members + higher than other members :P Right now there is 60% for a public release and a total of 3 SRL members have voted for that. 5 SRL Members for SRL Members+ release. 3 SRL Members for SRL Members+ release and lite version for public.

So there are more SRL members that don't want a public release than SRL Members that do want a public release :P

Don't make it public if you want to release it to public make a lite version.

I think it's a better idea to not release it to public full working version.

Lite version is interesting or at least a version with some "anti-leach" that people need to understand the script to make it working.

I'm very interested to look at your code because I work a little on a GOP script but I didn't go as deep in it than you ( it just join / do barriers / take portals ). I Pm you about it.
