impossible does not exist…

only very hard to do, or very complex

if you know what you are doing and want to hack at it with me, pm me. of course you should know how to use subversion

currently i'm working on best path plotting algorithm but could use help in many areas, such as scraping map, identifying location of dungeon exit, identifying floors complete in floor selection interface etc…

And as Joe said, good luck. Very big project, but it can be done.

There is a point… he would have ultimate uber respect from even SRL members. A dungeoneering script would change the very status of SRL.

If you're planning a dungeoneering script, I'd suggest this: build it from the ground up, one complexity level at a time.

What I mean is first design it to run at C1, combat only with keys and bosses and such. That in and of itself would be a feat worth noticing. Get that working well, then add C2 so on and so forth.

superbuster4

2012-05-08 23:33:21

senior you will never finish this quit while you are ahead of yourself. one floor at c1 will make you cry doing floor 1 at c1 with all the variations will destroy you from the inside out, its not impossible its just very painful.

For people discouraging him, it has been done before aka idungeon pro. This bot did f1-52, comp 1-6; it could rush lower floors, bind new weps/armour, switch ring styles, kill all bosses, solve all puzzles. The only difficult part of making it with simba which is color based is the color part. Idungeon pro was made with java and all it used was item id or coords to find stuff; this also proved efficient cause runescape is programmed in java.

By now we all on villavu should have taken some pride in what we are able to accomplish and not laughing at the dreams of others. Imagine the smile on people's faces when the idea of botting runescape using colors was first introduced; now over 90% of us on this forum are using color bots to play the game. Give the dude a chance and offer support, dungeoneering bot could be the biggest accomplishment in history of runescape botting and have a feeling it will be done.

If any of this comes to fruition, it'd be bloody inspiring to say the least. From what I gather though, the community is mostly too busy and its such as great time investment that it's unlikely to happen.

I bet though, if you could get C1 sorted, there'd be tons of support for this and the community would all heap in together to make it more and more powerful (I know i'd aspire to learning as much as I possibly could so I could have the chance to help out - just as soon as the damn exam season is over) - it'd be a war of collaborative attrition!

Massive support for this.

You can dynamically build the map as you go, when I did dungeoneering legit, I had to go through every room to see what it had and if that was what I needed. So bot will search every room, kill everything that there is (you can count items in room and monsters in the room by counting the minimap dots). Then collect keys, use keys to open doors. And for the puzzles, you just need a basic puzzle handler that can use your puzzle objects. And this is where the work comes in, you need to add your puzzle objects for each puzzle. I don't think you need A* algorithm anywhere. I think people are thinking too much, thus making this sound like a hard thing to do.

I'm sure I don't know everything about dungeoneering, but in my opinion, this is what it takes.

Even if you could devise a c1 f1-30 rush script it would be an amazing contribution to the community, although I'd probably recommend it be a members script.

If you can produce some form of legitimate progress I would be willing to lend a couple of high leveled dungeoneering accounts for you to test with, if needed.

One might counter argue this with bringing up MSI. How long did it take Jagex to make Lumbridge, Varrock, Daynor Village, Edgeville, Falador, Karamja, Camelot, Catherby, ect ect…? How long did it take them to fabricate the Woodcutting skill, Mining, Fishing, and so on? How many times have they all received complete overhauls? Yet, through a team of an intelligent few here on SRL, MSI was born to handle all of that, in one fluid script. To this day, that project is actively maintained through a team, and that team growing with new users with new ideas, new material to bring to the table.

You underestimate the potential of a team. I know it's probably mind-blowing to you to think of such, because your train of thought as well as your attitude suggests you're just another nameless java-botter; push-to-play, don't give a damn how it works as long as it works for you. Just because you yourself can't comprehend the idea, doesn't mean the same goes for everyone else. Your lack of faith makes you no different from any other normal Joe on powerbot, rsbot, rsbuddy.

I wouldn't even announce dung scripts anymore… It gets leechers pumped on projects that will never be completed.

2012-05-12 09:56:49

People overrate complexity of that script. It was done in reflection ,so it can be done with color ,only difference is that what in reflection takes one line of code in color might take 2k+ lines :)

The clue is reliable core engine ,it's not so hard to do - rooms are simmetrical ,every dungeon has the same layout of rooms based on dung size. I was thinking about making map of whole dungeon in memory , marking position of every item and usefull object in every room , so you need only to recognize object first time and it's position will be saved ,and you can return to it anytime from anywhere. I've already made method ,which recognizes position in room in local coordinate system ( based on minimap).

accuracy is +-5 due to compass angle changes.

Second thing is grabbing position of items. For this MS<–>MM conversion is needed. There is already one cool thing ReadySteadyGo's 3dProjectile. It functions very well ,but has only MM->MS convertion and also procedure ,which grabs dots from minimap needs improvment ,so a lot to do in here;
I modificated it a bit ,so it returns TBox of tile connected with MM dot. Then I search for object inside tile. Because objects have wide colour range and ground is homogeneous I use cannycore:

Also other procedures should be in core ,like door recognition , possesed keys (DTMs will be best here) etc.

And puzzles…mostly are propably harder to solve then random events. Some will be extremely hard ,like that one with emotes (animations) ,or with catching ferrets (I have a lot prolems doing it legit:D). But puzzle solvers will be separate modules ,can be implemented bit by bit. I'm not going to think about them now :)

Dijkstra, A* would be overkill, the maps aren't particularly big. :)

I can't believe what I just saw. I'm going to work on a Dung Script. I may not succeed at first, but I'll get there. To the people who're saying it's impossible, Get off of your lazy asses and try! Jeezusss

This is pretty much how I've been doing it, except I'm going for complete compass independancy.

basically i did the same in runespan script - i don't care how you rotate the map, i am mapping 8x8 pixels to cubes on playscreen and i have the perspective in so i don't have necessarily same issue with being off the further from camera the floor is

but i got to really measure the values in square environment, i have merely guesstimated the camera position with respect to player

after all, runespan isn't exactly straight edges :P

and i would like to be able to adjust the zoom as well because one thing that the window does is that angular width of player doesn't change as much as you'd expect when you pan out with high angle so i find that there may be up to a 1.4x zoom when high angle

of course ideally we will be able to detect exact camera height so we can get away from angle high/low limits

but for that we will need more accurate compass reading - the actual compass reading is pretty much useless for this type of calculation, but if you can wrap the room in rectangle, and find one wall that's supposed to touch the rectangle, you both can get more exact angle of compass and calculate camera height

just my 3.7 cents (adjusted to inflation)

Edit and i know that some people circulated idea of picking up key first when entering room, but i am not sure that is always possible with trap rooms or puzzles or something, but if we get more accurate angle, and bounding box of the room, i project to map based on actual position in 3d runescape environment with full adjustment to perspective, so if we note (x,y) transformed coordinates within the room bounding box, i should be always able to place it even if we move and rotate view and change camera height, but calculating the X-Y from (x,y) projected onto [x,y,z] may not necessarily land on visible screen space. Still if i get target at -20,-5 we know we need to head up and left (no matter what the direction that may be)

so i used my 3d engine from runespan script, and this time i made mapping of every single pixel from minimap onto floor level.

now i still need to adjust it because i think i don't have the exact camera location pinned down yet… but in any event, it's pretty accurate, now i got to tinker with the exact position, because you can see that the projected point is closer to camera than it should be so i need to push the camera back a tiny bit

EDIT: this actually looks more like a zoom issue because it affects left to right nearly as much as it affects back to front, but can't play with it today - lotsa work

You continue to amaze everyone im sure. May I ask what you do for a living? if its related to scripting? (I personally think it must be :P)

I've seen a script for dung somewhere. The alpha version ALONE took over 300 hours of TESTING. But it yielded a total of around 90m xp in those 300 hours, if I'm not mistaken.

It will take time, but hell, if people are willing to help, then it would be worth it.

Sign me up for testing though ;)

Averaging 300,000 experience an hour in TESTING? I highly doubt that.
I think you are mistaken ;)

I'm surprised I haven't seen a development thread pop up by now - from what I've seen there's a lot of small time development going on! There's definitely potential if you guys team up.

scripting isn't what i do for living :P

but recognize that there is only a small difference between scripting and writing software, the difference is in approach i think…

as best as i can tell, most of the code written here is purely single threaded which eliminates some of the complexity, but reminds me of console development before event driven frameworks were available

that is not putting it down - because some of the hardest code to write are drivers which are only step above this, you are highly limited in what you can use and you do not have benefits otherwise afforded to user space

but in short, i'm principal software engineer… used to be senior software engineer some 10 years ago but worked my way up a little more :garfield:

how in the hell are you not an SRL member .

Regardless, OT: definitely respect what your trying to do / have already accomplished. And don't mind the nay sayers, no one who was negative ever did anything great :P. I would love to say that I would help as much as possible - but sadly I can't even script down a tree yet :D. When I have time, I'll keep reading :p…

Seems like you're a really good scripter :)!
Were/are you active at another bot site?
Best of luck!

Man this is pretty inspiring, really starting to like the community here. It would be great to see this happen but if you guys don't organize a team and define a method of achieving a release together the project will take an eternity.

It's the puzzle rooms that will kill you. :P

I second Brandon's ^This

This would truly have to be a community effort, but it would totally be worth it. Think about it … leveling bots to completion, without affecting the economy via resource flooding, without any chance of anyone reporting you. I bet you could run these things for days w/o bans.

Don't think this will happen simply because the reflection one was over 100,000 lines of code (said by kiko himself) and there is no telling how long this would be. I would guess over a million.

Kiko's was multi complexity and stuff, remember if it was a more basic one, it would be far less
