You've messed up repeat..until standards in a few places, but Yes from me.

Abu

2012-05-06 17:07:16

Voted yes.

I've seen you around the forums quite a bit so you're a good community member.

Script looks a bit complex so that's a big plus.

Standards are a bit off, but someone else will explain in more detail (mine aren't perfect either)

Finally, you should leave a bit of space between your functions/procedures for easier readability :D

Last Legend

2012-05-06 17:15:57

I've always been so confused on leaving spaces between procedures haha, in some scripts I leave like 3 lines between functions then others I leave none. And I find really no true standard among the community either but I definitely agree it helps with readability XD
Thanks!

Sorry, for me you're a little green.

Standards are a little off, and you don't have any real failsafes in case something goes wrong.

Global vars with unreadable names. Bad standards. Not really complicated script, though I see you worked hard on it. On the other hand you are a nice member, got a good attitude. Will think about this one.

Last Legend

Yeah I surely am a little green ;P And thanks for the consideration, I appologize for the random names, my mind tends to wander while scripting :x

NKN

2012-05-06 18:55:25

Yeah, try to remember to name Global variables useful names, and then try to see if you can cut down on them all together.

Withholding my vote, because I'm supposed to wait awhile. ;D

Good Luck.

Standards are way off, bad naming conventions.

And we _do_not_ love capital bold words ;) (Didn't affect my vote)

Voted no, for the reasons I stated and the reasons that were stated above.

@Sin & @abu_jwka: read through the script, and if you're not quite sure, wait for someone else to vote and explain why they voted like they voted. Seems that you guys were a bit too fast on the voting.

Take example from NKN :)

Rich

2012-05-06 19:13:58

Little mistakes like
  end else
WriteLn('You suck at walking, get off RS');
Logout;
are the kind of mistakes which can entirely ruin the functionality of a script. Because of that, and all said above, no from me I'm afraid, but keep working at it :)

Last Legend

Mkay I appreciate the input, will surely help me in the future. And I will be sure to not use cap bold words in scripts from now on ;)

The globals are kind of wierd but I can get over it. The fact that this is a fishing script is quite a feat on its own, I tried one and ragequit it because I couldn't get it to click a spot. You have a good post count and awesome activity. I've seen you around the forums and you are a helpful person. I know the simba tags ruin standards, but there are a few places where the standards couldn't even have been ruined by tags. With the content of the script and your activity stats, its a yes. Good luck and don't give up

Im voting, No. Script is too simple, not to be a dick or anything, its pretty much a few TPA procedures, with SPS and a little added extra to make it work, theres nothing there that I can say that "wow mint" at.

And thankyou Frement, was thinking along the same lines also.

But its a good effort, goodluck.

2012-05-07 09:28:57

I'm voting no because there were a lot of minor errors (already mentioned) that make me question your understanding.

Overall, good effort. I hope to see you apply again in the future and persuade me otherwise.

If I could offer one piece of advice, it would be to work on your use of advanced walking and object finding.

I know that. And to that application you posted "Yes". I'm saying please use your brains when you're posting in member applications. It doesn't take that much time to look through the script. It seems that overall you're basing your votes solely on what you think of them.

I apologise for voting before reading through the script properly.

I've seen him before around the forums and like him as a community member so I was instantly tempted to hit yes. I only skimmed through the script and saw a few TPA functions as well as try..except which impressed me, so I thought I'll just go ahead and hit yes.

Well this was a depressing sight to wake up to :0 Thanks for the feedback gents, altho it seems that a few people voted no and left no reasons which is slightly sadening as I have no idea what their thought process was :x Thanks BobboHobbo for pointing out that this is a simple script for an application, I had no idea until now so next time I will surely make something a bit more complex for submission. Tehq, congrats on members btw, glad to see you joined the ranks, I do see where advanced walking would be useful, especially now that SPS seems to be buggy as of late, advanced object finding I believe I showed however by creating a way of finding fishing spots with near 100% accuracy (minus an occasional odd piece of clothing simba picks up).
Anyways thanks all for the feedback! Doesn't look like it's gonna turn around so if a mod or admin would like to close the thread that may be best at this point although I'll leave it up to them.
Cheers.

This is all going off-topic, but I never said his contributions weren't good, nor that he wouldn't help others.

But these:
"Sometimes, I honestly wonder why I even release scripts to some of the morons here."

"The members rank has been 'infiltrated' you could say, with unworthy people."

"Go back to sythe with your substandard scripts."

Anubis does not deserve this on his members application. I think we can all agree it is a very stressful time for the applicant and I imagine this is neither comforting nor beneficial to him. If this is what a potential member witnesses on their application, what is to encourage them to apply again? Put yourself in the applicant's shoes; how would you feel? If you have a problem with another user then take it up with them via Pm. This is not the place.

Okay, let's not start anything again, but in all those quotes, I was either:
Instigated
Person who I said it to was insulting me or acting stupid

How exactly did you turn it around? Are we able to edit the script as it is being judged? :x
Thanks!
Anubis

Turned it around via good attitude I think :p

And yes, you can edit as you go, so don't be afraid to update your script with some awesome functions!

Ahh okay thanks for the tip :)

EDIT: Changed the global vars that people didn't enjoy to make them easier to understand. Fixed a few other things people pointed out, made a failsafe. Standards still suck :x

Also one thing, standards may affect the vote more than you think. presentation counts!

Voted yes, for your positive outlook, and looking past the squabbling in this application…

Anubis, I'm sorry that this thread turned out this way. Please, take some time and apply again soon. I am saddened by the responses here, but nevertheless, the community's decision holds.
