5/3/12 early AM Update - Fixes FPS,etc

They officially have made some graphical updates and added a Dungeoneering world….BUT massive posts (and personally confirmed by logging in manually) have been applauding the massive FPS improvement. It has been said multiple times fps fix would accompany Optimus so troday it is the day I guess

Today sees the release of a significant performance improvement update to RuneScape which will improve frame rate and the general game play experience, which has been an issue for some players recently.

Performance

As many of you will be aware, some our previous anti-bot initiatives caused an adverse affect on the frame rate and performance of the game. The Game Engine Team has been working very hard on solutions to this and the update should bring significant increases in overall playability for the vast majority of those affected, noticeably more so on lower-spec computers

Bots

As part of our ongoing effort to combat bots, this update also contains additional adjustments to the engine which will significantly disrupt bots.

Future Updates

These changes are only part of our ongoing efforts to continually improve the performance of the game, as well as to combat bots, and we have further updates in these areas planned for the next few months.

At times we may go a little quiet in these areas - this is because it’s often hard to share details of what we’re working on without giving bot makers information that they can use to their advantage. Rest assured, though, that we understand how these issues affect how you play and enjoy the game, so solving them is of paramount importance to us.

Must be injection/reflection related, because the script I'm running right now is working. Let's hope they didn't change the colors of the Great Orb Project or the altars haha. Will check that out soon :O

EDIT: After checking out the Powerbot forums.. Update has indeed broken them for the time being.

JJ are you having any troubles with smart? seems very slow to load and sometimes just freezes, im not gonna risk trying to run anything for at least a few hours until we get more info on this.

I confirm this… using smart it fails to update and load at the moment or else it is loading at a snal's pace….

fetching updates and checking for updates is in a loop when u try to log in using smart it wont complete the fetch updates

I didnt even figured there is botnuke going on everything is working like usually

I'm running my personal private script through SMART. Since 5 mins after the update and I have no troubles at all.

I've seen a couple people raging at Powerbot though. Seems like injection/reflection is down for a couple days.

EDIT: However I should mention that my account didn't get logged in at the first try. Had to restart it to log me in. But it has been working since then, which was around 5 minutes after the update.

It appears that it does this every time you load or reload….

FPS has been fixed aswell.

Testing it with a f2p acc at a f2p world.
Fixed @ Safe Mode I get 50 FPS @ Max graphics
Resizable @ OpenGL I get 50 FPS @ Max graphics

Testing it with a p2p acc at a p2p world.
Full screen @ DirectX I get 40-50 FPS @ max graphics

No problems at all to run Simba-scripts at the moment. Much better FPS even with Simba. But some of the dragon killing bots are still there, so who or what did they disrupt i wonder.

finally the fps fix, i can now run without lagging all the time, time to dung!

Those are gold farmers, not bots.

Simba is still running great on my laptop after the update, however the client doesn't finish loading on my main desktop computer. Meh, I don't really bot on my desktop anyways, haha.

SMART took a long time to load the first time, and longer than usual (but still reasonable) to load the 2nd and 3rd times, but my scripts are running fine. These are just mule accounts so I don't mind sacrificing them to see if there's any new detection methods or anything.

Finally a fps fix shame my pc is fried.

All was going well until I heard clunk zzzzzzzz beeeeeep thinking wtf opened my case not only did my heatsink fall off which fried my cpu but the dam thing fell and chipped my gpu(graphics car) which I never knew until my new chip arived still waiting for my cheep gpu of ebay to arrive while I save my pennies bummer ey.

Ill be testing if my scripts work, im gettign all scared now 0_o

Damn this update was early, like around 4 or 5 am Canada ontario time. I have not noticed any FPS increase, and the SMART was acting up for me ( running real slow) so i just turned it off. Have not been there since.

im using the firemaking script in house with butler runned for 2 houers now after the update works fine and no issues, no lagg and its almost flawless:P !:D made almost 1m fm xp ! :D

Are those Graahk bots still there?

I can run RS better on High Fullscreen now than I could Low 800x600 before. I has a happy :P

RS is stuck at "Fetching Updates" while using SMART 7.1 Alpha2 - Loading RS is fine in my browser. Wassup SMART?

I'm running a script using SMART right now. Took ~30 seconds to load and login to RS….

im running ashamans red sally script threw SMART aswell as narcles ak smelter on my noob.. both are running awsome. dont really notice a change in speed. but it works which is all that matters it was never really slow to begin with :)

It's funny how in the process of trying to stop bots they actually made the game shittier for legit players

15th time lucky I guess.. I got it to work by running in Combatibility XP/SP2 + Admin, killed simba, restarted as Win7 process, finally works.

holy F. forget what i said about it being no faster no slower, my SOF wheel looks like its on crack. itts spinning insainly fast rather then dead slow. and SMART takes like 10 seconds from the time its open to load fully and start signing my account in.

JAGEX ACTUALLY DID A GOOD UPDATE FOR ONCE.

No problems for me using SMART whatsoever. I am still using 6.10c crashsmart update.

I'm having no problems what so ever, and the script I'm running is working just as well as ever. Strange I guess.

Im running AZK script just fine, leave the simba client loading for how ever long it takes, it will keep going back and forth but will finally go to the login screen.

Delete your Jagex Cache's.. Load smart.. It'll save the settings. On second run, it will load faster than the first and load normally too.

By improving FPS they have improved the performance of bots lol

The new FPS update is pretty sexy.

One of the best updates this year. It's nice to have so much less lag.

my simba doesn't work :(

my fps litterally went up 7fold. i did find however that my ubuntu partition could not run rs correctly. but when i switched to my windows partition, it ran smoothly and no issues.

Reflection isn't gone… Nor is injection… All they did was update their hooks so for those private bots, or the bots that you guys are seeing now(if they aren't color), they've already re-updated those hooks. Powerbot were always the ones to take ages with their hooks, so don't worry… They'll be back (I believe).

Ran mining guild MSI for an hour or so, it's pretty nice with nobody around :D
The FPS update is the best thing ever BTW, no more lag.

Wow ,I had before 5-10 FPS on SMART with minimum settings ^^
Now I have 35-40. Looks great! And my laptop doesn't burn.

My desktop is running awesome!!!!

My laptop on the other hand is experiencng a black screen when smart tries to load.

Used same steps as mentioned earlier in thread…worked on one and not on the other… :(

For what its worth my SMART loaded right up no problemo … been running SIN's Firemaker with no problems …

Finally, the FPS fix. Been itching to run max graphics. :P

Take cpu slider in smart ad pull it all the way up and it will load quickly with no issues…

Maybe my idea of the IP snake has come into play and you have all just walked into the swagbag of jagex's bot conquest.

I'm at 7 hours, no token or restart error.

I'm gonna wait a couple days to bot to see how many people get banned with the new anti-botting thingys

Well it certainly hit my platform hard.. Haven't been able to get smart to start for 6 hrs straight.. lol Can of course load RS normally on this laptop (Scripting/Botting laptop)..

On my Normal laptop its all fine and dandy but the laptop I do everything on got nuked hard :c I've done literally everything.. it's no use. Restart/re-install java/restore registry/roll back/re-install simba clean.. lol Looks like the nuke only hits some ppl for now. Oh well.
