Well not me!
I hate my cat.

To be fair, its technically not even our cat. It was our neighbours that moved and never took him. My parents took a liking to it for some reason, so on our deck my dad put a pillow and made him a little house thing.

Hes pretty much an outside cat. We feed him everyday. He goes whenever he wants, although he spends most of the time on the deck being LAZY! He often catches a bird or a rat and brings it to us. I hate that, but apparently thats a cats way of saying I love you? Or something like they are giving it to you as a present.

The thing I hate about him is he keeps getting into the garbage and makes a HUGE freaking mess.

I was so pissed off that I threw 2 tennis balls at him and pretty much chased him away. 30minutes later he comes back so I chased him away again.

The thing is this isnt a 1 time thing. He keeps DOING IT! Is there anyway you can train the cat? Like when I saw the mess I pointed towards it, yelled at him and chased him away. Do you think he will learn that way? Or am I doing it wrong.

My parents still love the damn thing. Im more of a dog person. Dogs love ya unconditionally where as cats are jealous spoilled things. (im so biased)
But anyway… any thoughts?

P.s I do try to cover the garbage, lock it up and stuff, but he somehow climbs on it and pushes it down the stairs to open it. Grrhh hate it lol
P.p.s Sry for the rant
P.p.p.s When I say I threw the balls at him, I never hit him. NO ANIMALS were hurt in the process. To clear things up.

I think it's possible to train a cat. Although it will not be as easy as training a dog.. Teaching a dog something is easy. If he/she does it right, you reward him/her with a treat. Ideally you can do the same with a cat. But it will be more complicated, you have to train him to not do something..

I say, just keep the lid tightly shut on your trashcan

I know this is an odd topic heh

Don't throw things at a cat lol! Just set a bucket of water next to the garbage can, throw it over him each time he gets to close, and talk angry(not yelling). He will never touch that garbage can again after that happened a few times.

I find that a spray bottle does the trick.

Aha no no I never actually hit him! Intentionally missed.
Spray bottle, that would sound good, the thing is my cat likes the rain though. It IS an outdoor cat. Water doesnt do anything to it. He gets wet all the time. (aha dirty mind going south, dont mind this comment!)

I think it will still work. All the cats walk outside in the rain where I live, yet water is so effective. Also train your firm voice, I think it will work out.
