Anti-advertising;leech method.

Well advertising is becoming a nuisance now even though I just ignore the post.

Anyway, I have a suggestion, maybe there would be some way of restricting users from posting before they do a certain activity?

Like making sure they have clicked the links which direct them to the FAQ or making them post in the Introduction section before being able to post anywhere else.

This would stop users asking silly questions and maybe slightly reduce the advertisements.

Thoughts and suggestions?

Good idea, but what if they click it and then they close it and skip all the reading?

Well hopefully when they are new to the forum, when forced to click the link they will actually bother to read.

Also, all they need to do is glance at the FAQ to know that actually, it will be very beneficial to them!

Still a really good idea, but what about those people that just creat accounts to advertize? Iv'e gone to other forums and trust me all i did was leech/advertize and leave.

Lol I haven't got the Cup nor do I intend on getting it, I just wanted to make people think ;)

Also, this isn't Simba coding, you don't need to use '//' :p

To me, it's the same as begging for rep.

OT: I like the idea, but when you make someone do something that they don't really want to do, they will go through it as fast as possible. Ergo, they will open the required link, and close it.

I wish I had the newcomer cup, I was going to get it but my first posts was me asking about how to install simba ect. and they gave me bad reputation and infracions.

Take a look at one of my first threads, I'm sorry but i look back at it and want to :crying: http://villavu.com/forum/showthread.php?p=955891#post955891

Is that what it looks like? :surprised:
If so I'll remove immediately.

Anyway, Kyle I know you're saying people will just click off it but at least it will reduce stupid questions to a certain proportion.

EDIT: Already removed, the last thing I want to do is look like a begger.

Most people will just click and backspace.

Unless we make a quiz/test, such as what is the 3rd rule; Or post a code in the middle of the rule page and in order to pass the quiz you must type in the code in order to post.

But, I think we are fine cause we been dealing with leechers since day one and wasn't a huge issue for us.

You beat me to what I was going to say. I agree with the test, and if they fail it, they have to wait like on runescape log in when to many incorrect pass.

So what your saying is for a newcomer who doesn't know how to script needs to script something before they can join the community? Or are you saying that like halfway through the reading have a code box and somewhere else have a code that you need to write in the box? OR are you saying there is a quiz after they read through it to see if they actually read it?

Another website requires to stay on the page for 300+ seconds. Giving you time to read evertying.

We don't want them to leave, just force them to check the FAQ before posting.
