I have no found out how to do it, it's "conditional formatting".

sigh i think i did this a year or two ago, might of been in access. shame i cant remember sorry

I know how to make if functions, but I just need to know how to add colours. Thankyou for the replies :)

Use Conditional Formatting either in the main toolbar if on excel 2011 or in a menu for olderversions:
