Hey
I got an email 12 hours ago saying I've been banned.
We regret to inform you that your account has been permanently banned for Macroing. Please visit the appeal section under Account Management to view evidence of your offence(s) and to appeal any offence(s) that you feel are unjustified.
It shows no offenses and I can still log in.
Is this normal? Am I just not banned yet?
Wondering whats going on.
thanks
phish email don't login and click on it. if you did then change your password

Its from "noreply@email.jagex.com", not legit?
edit:
The only link it gives me is:
http://secure.runescape.com/m=weblogin/loginform.ws?mod=offence-appeal&ssl=18&expired=0&dest=account_history.ws and that just goes to the homepage……
DO NOT REPLY.
I get plenty of these all the time.
something like this has actually happened to me before

I get tons of those emails and I never registered an email adress with Jagex… Just ignore them, it's all phishing.

Are you copying the link or the hyperlink? Most of the email phishers have to do with a link that says
www.runescape.com/ blah blah blah but the hyperlink is to a phishing website. And also the email can be replicated somehow, not sure how exactly but I know it can. It may be the official email but its probably not them.

They (phishers?) are desperate to get their hands on your accounts. People are getting smart about these emails, they're rarely falling for them.
You did good about double-checking here though.

There is a way to make it look like the emails are from another address.

I got soo many of those emails (I fell for the first one and got hacked) that I just made a filter that sends them to trash as soon as they arrive. Problem is, now I have to register runescape with a different email, but gf phishers!
You think it doesn't link you to anything dodgy…
If the first thing it does is ask you to log on, it's a phishing site.

Jagex only contacts you through the message center, it's not legit.

The best way to find is:
1. Don't click the link
2. Log in to ur acc/s to see if that's true.

Everyone seems to be getting those.
If you read official jagex rules, they say they will never contact you regarding your accounts status through email.

When ever you get an email like this, it is best to go straight to their site(Jagex/RS) and login like that and check if your account has actually received an infraction. Never click the link and never enter any of your details into any fields if you do happen to follow the link. If you have done so then i highly suggest changing your password(s) for any other sites/accounts that your current password may be tied too.

I just ignore these emails - they always go into my spam and i'm really paranoid about picking up a hack so yeah i will always check my login if i get one of these from the direct website

As everyone has stated, its a phishing scam.
Hope you didnt enter your password, sounds like you may have, I suggest changing it and running a virus scan.

Sorry for a bit of a necro, but the site it links you to is HTTP and not HTTPS. It may say secure in the URL but it is not a secure website, do not enter your password on any site that isn't HTTPS, as they are generally a phishing site.

lol ive also received hundreds of mails like justin, now they either go straight to spam or i dont get them at all
My great question is how the f they get my email when i only use it at rs? maybe rs is sellin our info :p, or has anyone knows there was a hacking tryout at rs servers, maybe they got emails but not accounts and thats why i get this emails without using my mail elsewhere
