Alright everyone well my laptop broke this week so instead of investing money to fix it I figure it is time to buy a nice new computer for myself. I have researched this today and had a little help at a store in order to build something that would be ideal for gaming and still have resources to do whatever I want as well. I would like to get opinions on this and if you know of something that is better while it being worth it and not costing too much more please post. I would also like to know how many bots you think i would be able to run with this if anyone has any estimates!

Thanks for any help given I plan on ordering one early this week so any help is greatly appreciated!!! The current price for everything is $1575

1200W power supply sounds quite high but I'm not an expert :) Perhaps 2 video cards require that much.

It sure is, mines 750W AC

The powersupply is overkill, and unless your doing video rendering(and lots of it) a 2600k isn't really that much better than a 2500k for how much more money it is.

The Ivy Bridge series are coming out at the end of the month, the third generation of the i7s. That's what I'm waiting for.

Why even go with the DVD drive anymore? I don't know the last time I used mine.

Would someone mind moving this thread to the other general subforum called "Anything and Everything" I seem to have posted it in the wrong general one… Sorry for any inconvience

It probably is the main reason is because of this i think is why he wanted me to get it and the fact that i am going to be OC'ing "All of the connectors are sleeved in mesh for better cable management and routing for increased airflow. And your system components are protected from under voltages and short circuits. Best of all, the power supply offers you a built-in 80mm PWM fan for your demanding heat dissipation requirement

Do you have a similar computer if so would you mind linking me to a power supply that would be good enough for me?

Not really planning on doing much video rendering and I think that I am going to wait for ivy seeing as it is only a week away. That way I spend the same for a processor that I have read that is up to 20% better. So I don't think i will end up getting the processor I originally posted.

Yeah I am just going to wait it out now as well. Do you know if they will be in store on that date or are they just going to be starting to leave the factory on that date?

lol, I know exactly what you mean although the ONLY reason why I am getting it in the first place is to install windows when i get it after that it is pretty much useless to me as if i ever need to load an iso after that i just use a virtual disk reader… You do see though the one i got is a very basic one though and is only around $18

Hopefully they will be available on newegg. Might have to camp the website the night before. :p

You're probably only going to need 800w for those video cards, and I'll be honest, if you are sinking as much money as you are into this system, you are really going to want a SSD harddrive to boot off of and install most of your programs on, then have that other harddrive for storage. Having the SSD will make your computing experience 3000x better!

I'm not sure if this has the amount of PCI-E connectors you're looking for, but i'd highly recommend this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817121067

850 - 950W should be sufficient

This is so right. Most people think buying insane Gfx cards, ram and cpu gives you a super fast pc but the real bottleneck of almost all pc's is the HDD.
HDD's, the normal ones haven't improved much since like forever.

An SSD probably gives you a 100% speed increase or more for like 300dollars(or less) for a 256 gig one. While for 300dollar more in gfx card/ram/cpu you would get a increase of maybe 5-15% max.

So get an SSD :D It's AMAZING.

Dont get the 460's till you see more 600 series cards come out, you will get better price/performance I reckon.

Powersupply is no issue, unless your running 3+ cards in SLI you wont have an issue, Power supplies aren't too expensive, but make sure you get a reliable one, reliable>max power.
You could probably do with some slightly better RAM
Dont buy the CPU until you see Ivy Bridge, or you may get better deals on them (same with the graphics cards)

Suggestions: I looked for products in a similar price range to what you selected, only ever about $20 more

RAM:
G.Skill is good, + these are faster (1600)
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231315
Or go for the CORSAIR check that the heat sinks don't get in the way
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820233143

Motherboards:
Depends on what CPU you choose + what chipset you want (z77, P67 etc etc)
Check out this list (its the good chipsets + sockets + all have gigabit LAN port +)
http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=Property&N=100007627%20600238945&IsNodeId=1&PropertyCodeValue=705%3A49182%2C705%3A218893%2C705%3A88788%2C706%3A94320%2C706%3A218894%2C706%3A45357%2C706%3A49183%2C706%3A53841%2C706%3A88789%2C706%3A50781%2C717%3A88791%2C717%3A94314%2C717%3A218895%2C717%3A140053%2C717%3A288642%2C2368%3A14897%2C2368%3A44488%2C2368%3A14899%2C2368%3A20724&bop=And&Order=RATING&PageSize=100

Processor: I say up to you, but check what is coming up soon.
Your CPU cooler wont fit with LGA 2011 if you choose a CPU that uses 2011

I think your PSU choice is pretty good
But I reckon the top two from this list are good.
http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&N=100007657%204018&IsNodeId=1&name=%24200%20-%20%24300

Your Case Im not sure fits your radiator unless you are having it externally but its an good case anyhow.

That HDD you have chosen is a 2.5" laptop hard drive, and you will need a 5" or 3.5" converter since you case doesn't have one.
Get a SSD or the desktop variety of the hybrid drive you've chosen, or if you dont care about boot/load speeds just get a regular 1tb HDD from any of the big HDD names, like WD, SeaGate Hitachi etc etc.
A reasonable SSD will probably be about $150-$200 from newegg, and the capacity will be smaller, but it will be crazy fast!

As for Graphics cards, wait for the 660s to come out, 2 460s roughly equate to 1 480 it varies from game to game obviously but a evga standard 480 is $210 which is cheaper than the $270 you might spend on 2 x 460s. But wait until the new 600 series comes out, the prices will drop, you might be able to buy second hand 500 series cards for a great price, or you might just be able to get 2 awesome 600 series cards for better/equal performance.

Hope this helps

EDIT: About PSU's it doesn't matter if you go way over the actual power draw, I recommend getting 950+ since its better to accommodate for extra power draw, and if your getting modular/semimodular sleved with a good efficiency from a good reliable brand you will be a lot better off, never buy a generic brand, or your parts may burn (not that you are, but just as a general warning)

Judgement from Wikipedia the 3770k ivy bridge is $313, socket 1155, and comes out on the 29th

If you overclock, do not go Ivy. The 95w TDP makes it worse than sandy

First off thank you everyone for the great ideas and while I can't use them all because we all have different opinions I would like to thank you for at least posting them as i at least researched it and learned something. Does anyone know though how many sambas this thing might be able to handle if lets say I OC it to maybe 4.5-4.8(if I am lucky).

That sounds really awesome to get a drive like that unfortunately I just don't like the price right now. I am hoping that after the Thailand flooding event that caused HD prices to go up is over then I will get this at a later date for a cheaper price then it is today. I will probably pick this up within the first year though as see what it is like!

Reading that was the very very low point of my night. That is very disappointing to find out… I wonder if that is why the release date kept being pushed back… I think I will wait for maybe another story or 2 to say the same thing though and just hope that one was a bad one.. probably will not be though so i will most likely go with the sandy bridge like I originally planned.

What an AWESOME answer thanks for all the help you have given me!

For the graphic card I have changed my mind a little I plan on getting just one for the time being and then when the next series comes out i will be able to add one more for a better price. I might not add that for awhile though seeing as if one can do the trick for me then why bother adding a second one that will not ever be used.

For ram i will go G.Skill ram as i have a friend that also recommend that i go with that!

Motherboard - i really like the one i have for that

Processor - "Your CPU cooler wont fit with LGA 2011 if you choose a CPU that uses 2011" — the one i have selected right now though will fit correct?

PSU- I am changing that to the first one on the list but might change that to a lower W if i feel like spending that money on something else since a lot of people mentioned that is is probably overkill

Hardrive - wow lol i picked a laptop one i will have to fix that tomorrow.

gfx - I am going to change that to one 480 at the moment knowing that I will add another when the newer models come out if needed.

Thanks again all

Ixilisi

The cooler will fit the lga 1155 socket that the 2600k processor you have chosen is, and your motherboard as well, and I just saw that there is an adapter for the 2011 socket any how.
Im not sure where you will put the radiator but the pump & reservoir should fit in 1-2 5.25" drive bays.
