Just wondering what everyone is thinking about regarding this upcoming update. Could it possibly be Optimus since it's been said to be released soon? Just share your speculation.

Complete copy and paste from the RS forums here:
1.) The letters add up to future. "See" (3) + "The" (3) = Future (6) - They're teaching us maths.
2.) Another thread has spoilers to upcoming fremmy saga.
3.) There's going to be a big updates to the 3 areas (hence three words).
4.) There are 10 planks in the background so 10 things or more will be updated.
5.) The planks are half colored, so we could see a sneak peak of the new game engine/graphics that may come to pass, or it means half the people in rs will be banned because they're bots (Optimus)
6.) You will be able the PK in each of these areas in certain worlds
7.) "Spread the word!" consists of 14 letters meaning the update is in less than 14 days, obviously. Or it could me tell 14 people and you'll be granted some special power.
8.) Between the 3 locations there are 29 letters (13+8+8), so 29 will be a significant number in whatever is released.
9.) The border around the picture shows a newer metallic look, so we could possibly see an updated game interface with the new border look.
10.) The countdown was placed 8 days before the update because:
1.) The update will be significant with the number 8 (as well as 29)
2.) They want to get our hopes up and then we will be disappointed for an additional 8 days before the real release.
11.) Pertaining to the 3 areas, we will be able to look below eye lvl of our avatar (or above our character) into the sky in these 3 areas based off Q&A answers.
12.) 6 letters cross over their edge, possibly meaning 6 new people will be employed or fired by Jagex.
13.) The 2 dots between the cities names means that after the release, people will complain for 2 days and the update will cause some of the techs to be up fixing problems for 2 days straight.
14.) The countdown timer has a gradient background meaning rs is dying.
EDIT 15.) "Future Telling" will be a new skill

I dunno, based on the how they gave locations I'm sort of leaning towards graphical revamps. Like Varrock, ardy and catherby really haven't had much attention in that aspect. I hate surprises lmao.

Anyway it will most likely not be Optimus. I'm guessing we will be able to access the Grand Exchange in those cities and then others will be added later perhaps?

I'm gonna guess it's graphical rework. When it's a list of specific locations in RS you can probably filter out the idea of it being a game engine update.

I'm guessing they will make a major rework of those area. By major I mean, like when runescape HD came out. Then they will say that those new graphic will be all over runescape in the future, hence the slogan "see the future".

Or maybe it's just jacmod making another troll countdown where they will say they will close runescape and turn it into a social network or some crap.

SEE THE FUTURE, SPREAD THE WORD!

It's like they think we are still a bunch of 12 year olds who get excited at the thought that the game we play (bot) is getting some stupid update. Like we are supposed to go and gather our friends, and family and sit around a campfire and eagerly await "THE FUTURE…".
And as soon as this future arrives, everything will be good. Oh yea! Peachy!
Now let me paint you a picture of what the future will look like for runescape in this update:

Did you notice that piece of pebble that always trips your pixel as soon as you walk/teleport into Camelot? Yea well they're getting rid of it! Yup no more annoying pebble to slow you down as you march triumphantly from Camelot to catherby or where ever else you might be going from there.

Runespan, what else?

Members have access to three separate areas within the Runespan, each aimed at an increasing level range. Free players only have access to the lower level area, but it’s still a great place to train up. 

Three areas; GE, Catherby and Ardougne. The latter two of which are dead towns in dire need of new content.

Adding a timer is probably just Jagex' attempt at 'social engineering' to make people forget all about the fact that the update is delayed, and, of course, to add a touch of suspense.
