Hey guys I just wanted to see what some other people think about my idea. I am new to the community, and currently using a guilded altar script to get 95 prayer. As I don't want to become a leech, I have taken this opportunity to try to learn some scripting!

My idea for this came from me thinking of good ways to train my att/def now that i'll have high good prayer with turmoil. Finally it clicked, the perfect bot to make. Not only will this bot be relatively easy as a first bot ( I hope :p! ) but will also be something that I, and other members, can use!

I'd like to make a script that melee prays/deflects against the ape atol monkey guards, and kills them, while renewing prayer at the altar. I figure this should be a pretty easy script to make, as It only really has to be able to find/attack a monkey, and have some kind of a function that prayers when maybe <250 prayer points left.

I can also upgrade this script as my knowledge upgrades, by adding in turmoil (the percentage boost would be awesome to my str because of the monkeys combat levles!),also I could integrate potion use, since I can also use the curse that makes my boosted levels last longer. This will take another fucition that recognizes when the str level drops below perhaps <110, to repot.

So what do you guys think of this script as maybe my first script to make? easy, hard? heplful , stupid?

I was capable of getting nearly 120k/h with Rapier, Torva, Steads, Defender, Turmoil and Overloads.

It's easily feasible, but on the off chance that the monkeys trap you is when you're royally screwed.

Seems like a difficult first script, if you go for it, you could proudly say you're a pretty decent programmer for your time here.

yeah I'll be using all that stuff, but why would you use torva instead of bandos for the str bonus, when you are being protected by the overhead prayer o.o

and yup I thought about that too, how as a pure I couldn't get to the dungeon because you can't walk through the monkies. I think when fighting them though you won't run into that problem too easily since you'll be killing them, and you can set it to stay close to the altar , BUT of course there is always that possibility, so it would be very easy to just set a failsafe to teleport if your hp reaches <50% of normal hp, right? Since if the bot is functioning correctly, it should never lose hp since your praying.

basically they just surround you, and you can't walk through them. so you might kill one, but another one will be behind it to take it's place, or sometimes 3 of them pin you against the wall, and you literally CANT move. it stinks :(, but I don't think you'll have that problem if you just camp up right next to the altar. only on the vary rare occasion of if your bot steps out a big in pursuit of a monkey, and one comes from behind.. but That would be extremely rare, and even if it did happen, if you had enough prayer points to kill it, you could own it and get back to the altar.

that's actually a great idea, i'm surprised I didn't think of that. Just have prayer potions as the first failsafe, just to make your character last long enough to get back into the altar's vacinity, and use a teleport as a last failsafe incase you run out of prayer potion AND still are fighting monkeys to get back to the altar.

and @ Sin, you have Torva but not bandos o.o!?!?!?!?!? lol you gots to buy some

Go make a tab for just armor, and buy one piece of every armor (Bronze & Up) and make it all colorful, organized, and awesome. (OffTopic, ftw)

SOrry I just now noticed you said this. But you really think it's difficult? It seems pretty basic to me, in it's most basic form that is, of just praying, and attacking a monkey, and praying.

edit: and when I say pretty basic, I mean just the task seems easy, not the programming part hahahaha, I barely know anything about the programming side. I just want to have a clear idea of what I want to accomplish before I delve more into making it :D

Ohhh, no no no I'm not NEAR ready for this hahahah. I know nothing about scripting besides the very basics i've read in the "beginner" portion of the tuts. I'm going to make sure I do all of the beginner examples and UNDERSTAND them, then move on to intermediate and then advanced. Then finally when I'm decent, I'm going to take a shot at making the script then.

I'm just thinking this idea for the bot over, and everything that it will have to be capable of doing while I'm using someone elses script for prayer. Then I'll actually figure out how to do the things that it will need to do ^.^

You don't need to read advanced, I just read my first advanced tutorial today.
Only time I peaked into Intermediate was to read about walking. xD Everything else, is in the Beginner, I added a few tutorials myself there, which could actually cover a lot for the script you need. (Walking short distances(I.E, from monkey trap to Alter), Finding monkey colors, and making a progress report). Trust me, you don't need to go through all the tutorials, you actually learn faster if you try it out yourself, and experiment by looking through the SRL library.

Huh, that sounds like a very helpful tip, Thanks a lot! and yeah I kind of figured - I've been too busy recently to play with it myself, but I want to have a day where I can sit down and read through the beginners tutorial and follow along with the examples on simba for myself. So that I can play with stuff and tweak it. Looking forward to it ^.^!

Why can't you just use Narcle's Fast Fighter to do this? I am pretty sure it can do all of the things you mentioned, but I haven't used it. The only thing you'd have to change is add in clicking on the altar.

Well I wanted to make it, to just try my hand in scripting. But also a normal auto fighter wouldn't have anything I need at all. It would need a function to read prayer, and pray, an have fail safes for pray pots if blocked from the altar, etc. I think a normal auto fighter would take so much tweaking it would be worth it just to make a new script.
