It has gotten to the point where it is incredibly difficult to make money quickly in this game. There are several ways that money can be made at a very fast rate:
(I'm discounting gold farming - this post should be thought of as more from a "legit" player's view)
Outside of this, there is only really bossing, gathering, and skilling for profit. Bosses that are quickly accessible (i.e. you don't need to get a team together to get there) (e.g. Graardor, kree'ara, tormented demons, glacors) are not profitable enough (BCP/Tassets at 11-12m, arma hilt at 22m, acp/arma skirt at 10-12m, claws at 12-13m) simply aren't good enough anymore. Even for bosses like Nex/Corp, you have to take the time to assemble a team or find one on the forums/with clan mates, which can take 15+ mins to get together. Past that, a lot of luck is required (drop rates on corporeal beast are rumored to be less than 1 in 5000 on sigils, only 4 of 10 of Nex's drop are over a 25m split on a 6 man team) to get decent drops. Gather/skilling for profit are less than 3m an hour (usually) so lets not even go there.
The 3 things listed above all are only open to select groups of people or require luck/knowledge that a normal player doesn't have. Staking is all luck unless you can perform glitches to get the edge (or maybe there's something I'm missing?), gambling hosting can cost several bil to get a rank in a clan where you will actually get bets, and ddosing/scamming/luring takes very special knowledge to do (and in regards to luring, it's really not that great of money - I can tell you that from personal experience).
Maybe Jagex should consider this. In order for someone to get enough money to max out their account at a reasonable speed and afford all the good items (nex sets, spirit shields), they need to either have a ridiculous amount of time on their hands to sit at bosses or picking flax, or be able to get on to the other side of things and do the things in the "fast money" list (which is hard).
Maybe I'm just bad at scape.
not really sure where I was going with this thread.
- Staking
- Gambling hosting (dicing, flowers)
- "illegitamate" methods (ddosing, scamming, luring)
