Danish pronunciation

Hey. I'm English and I'm interested in learning Danish, so I guess this thread is directed at the people who live(d) in Denmark and know Danish.

I have two questions at the moment, (but might have more later)

1) I've read that when speaking to Danish natives, you have to be very precise on your pronunciation or its hard for them to understand you. Is that true?

2) I'm having a hard time with pronunciation. Currently I'm learning the alphabet and a few simple words and phrases, but Danish pronunciation is very different from English pronunciation and when I try to pronounce a word or letter, it naturally feels wrong (it may or may not actually be wrong). Do you have any tips that might be able to help me?

That's all for now, thanks. ;)

I asked my native Danish friend, paraphrased what he said:

1) I think it depends on the age, and the level of understanding of the language.
2) This is a 50/50 thing. I had a few people trying to learn Danish letters and words. They said it felt like it was wrong. And then some just kept trying, but didn't say it felt wrong to pronounce it.

Hey I appreciate you going through what you did to find the answers for me!
