RAM or CPU; which is the limiting factor?

Hi people. I normally run 3 accounts at a time, however I would like improve my PC slightly as they do lag a lot while running.

Here are my PC specifications:

Both my CPU use and RAM use seem to be 100% all the time.

Could some of you hardware experts give me some advice? RAM seems the cheaper fix to me, but I am unsure if it would help at all.

More CPU power and RAM.. If you have to choose then pick RAM.. But I don't think it will make big difference.. Because CPU usage is killing your computer..

I'd say CPU usage as i have a similar problem, my laptop has plenty of ram but becauase of the cpu my bot lags.

RAM would be the cheaper of the two but in reality you will only notice a slight difference. CPU would be great but its more expensive and you cant just get a better CPU…you would need to reinstall everything -_-.

I'd go with RAM for the quick fix

If you could get your hands on some cheap ram that would probably help, something to consider (haven't tested it myself at all) is getting a decent amount more ram and running Simba and runescape off of a RAMdisk. For minecraft (java based) this reduces CPU usage. (RAMdisk turns part of your ram into a hard drive with lightning fast read/write times)(when compared to your hdd, slug vs ferrari)

RAM could help because your cpu/dma(not sure now) would use less time to swap pages between your ram and hdd. I think.

RAM wont help anything at all if the issue is lag.

Upgrade your CPU.

In the end most of the time CPU is the limiting factor, but in your case it seems like you need both more CPU power and RAM. Since your CPU is maxed out, a new CPU for sure would help, and a bit more RAM to go along with it.

Try lowering the FPS bar on the right hand side of SMART to lower CPU usage, also close any other extra programs running in the background.

It seems that you are at the edge of what you pc can do.. both on the memory side and on the cpu side.

It's a bit like asking "should I add a fourth wheel to my car so it can roll, or add an engine so it can move?" You need both :s
