Note:
This isn't an official SRL scripting competition as I don't have the power to give out Scripters Cups but there will still be a prize.

Introduction:
After looking through these forums I have noticed that there used to be scripting competitions, I know a few still run now but I thought that one that gets people scripting would be fun for everybody. It would also get a bunch of useful scripts for people to use once it is over.

Details:
There will be 2 classes, SRL Members and Non SRL members. Junior Members will be included with the Non SRL Members. The script you are writing will be the same and you will automatically be entered for whichever category you fall under on the day of submission. To submit your entry either post it in this thread or create a thread in the Public scripts section for it then post the link here.

Rules:

1. Your Script must be compilable by simba.
2. All procedures not written by you *must* be credited clearly, this includes ACA generated procedures or functions.
3. All scripts must be open source and must run from a single .simba file.
4. The script must fill the criteria posted on the opening day.

Marking Criteria:
You will be judged based on:

1. Quality of the code written and the efficiency of it. (10 Marks).
2. FailSafes and how easy it would be to add new features to the script / fix it if there is a major update in that area, i.e. not a mismatch of random code that just about works for now. (10 Marks).
3. Scripting Standards (5 Marks).
4. Advanced procedures / functions such as object finding, including using functions so that lines of code are not repeated in your script. (10 Marks).
5. Bonus points will be awarded for "out of the box" ways of solving situations. (10 Marks).
6. How well your script actually works. (5 Marks).

Total score will be out of 50.

FAQ:

What about the issue that there will be lots of scripts of the same thing, isn't it a waste of scripters time?
The script criteria has been designed so that this will not be the case, obviously there may be the odd person that makes a similar script but the way the script criteria will be will make it so that all the scripts will be useful.

Can I the script that I use to enter this competition to apply for SRL members?

Do Junior Member count as SRL members?
After much clarification, no, Junior Member fall under the non-members category.

Can I use a script that is public that I wrote a while ago?
The short of it is yes. However please try to add some new features to the script or at least something new, just in spirit of the competition…

Why have I chosen this as the script?
Because this way the scripts will all be similar so judging them will be fair, however there will not be a lot of identical scripts, so we aren't wasting each others time.

let them both write the same script since there are no scripting requirements to get into jun mem

I don't really know how you become a Jr Member, can somebody clear that up?

I don't know exactly, but in other competitions jr. members are same as reggies I think.

Either a certain amount of posts and a a certain amount of longevity or being chosen by the higher boards.

Yeah its x amount of months and 300+ posts for junior. Its either 3 or 6 months so has nothing to do with scripting tbh.

Scripting is one of the reasons why higher boards choose a Jr. Member.

Well I got it significantly earlier, but Jr's with reggies seems good :D . Started a fighter finished like almost all except for testing yesterday

This is for users that have posted 300 posts or more and have been registered for at least 6 months. When users reach this milestone, they are also given access to the Black Market.

you dont compare. banking is prob just worth more

banking prob scores extra points, but then so does awesome walking and stuff. all should balance out. write a script, and just pack it with stuff

Neither do I but if I know exactly what I want and the process of completing that task then it really takes only less than a day to write. But testing and ironing out bugs is the real challenge

I don't usually find bugs much of a challenge. Make sure you keep your code very clean, and bugs are generally a breeze ;]

Well just to give people time to get their script as good as possible, I didn't want to advantage people that had lots of time on their hands, you can submit early of course

Well banking just adds to the complexity of the script, especially if you have something very cleaver working out how much food to withdraw depending on how long it is taking you to get a full invent of loot etc…

No, you don't. As stated above, in order to become a junior member (now), you require some amount of posts and time at the forums. It has nothing to do with scripting ability.

It can be given early if earned I guess, cause Hobbit gave it to me along with the cup and he said other members thought I deserved it. So the thread is correct but there are cases where it can be achieved early

Alright. As I said I don't really care, just trying to figure it out. I guess it's just that SOME junior member know how to script, but so do SOME registered members, so it should be in the same category.

edit: to putonajonny - will summoning be a + . i think if this were so, it would give quite an unfair advantage, but thats just my opinion.

member areas should be allowed. because it really isnt an advantage. but distinct member advantages, like summoning, should not be allowed. member foods should obviously be allowed, same with weapons and the like. its just those things that can gain a rs member significant advantages over an f2p person that shouldnt be allowed.

Well, if a place is very crowded and you have to write a code with "competitive" speed, this can be hard. Fighting detection and stuff will work less reliable, as it detects the others hp bars. ( I know, one can avoid that :P)
It is easier to write one for a quiet place.

Only 5 marks is given for how well the script actually works, you won't have any advantage if you are a member

No, just that things like being slow due to lots of other players won't loose you marks. Procedures that don't work wont gain you marks

Are multiple scripts allowed? Because I am writing a ton of fighting bots for my own personal use. Got one that gets 45k f2p xp/hr but it doesn't bank yet. It also has a basically abandoned training spot.

This 3D projection stuff looks very interesting… Will have to take a proper look when I judge them all :)

This is for falador north gate; start script here (just south of falador lodestone teleport)

this script is designed for pures (low defence). the script will kill guards until it dies. If it dies it will respawn in falador and walk back. If the user desires the script will activate quickprayer.
The script is very fast and compete with legit people. depending on level avg. 30k xp p/h.

The script is programmed with care and aiming for speed with high quality code.

For extra niceness set: UseSMARTPaint = true;

This is for falador north gate; start script here (just south of falador lodestone teleport)

this script is designed for pures (low defence). the script will kill guards until it dies. If it dies it will respawn in falador and walk back. If the user desires the script will activate quickprayer.
The script is very fast and compete with legit people. depending on level avg. 30k xp p/h.

The script is programmed with care and aiming for speed with high quality code.

For extra niceness set: UseSMARTPaint = true;

Damn I might not be able to finish will see I might have to make a quick backup ;), currently just problems with walking but should be able to iron those out in time.

I am actually thinking whether I would enter just for fun - IMO a little extra RSGP never hurts. I have a nice concept in mind, but 2 weeks might be too little given I work extremely slowly.

Here is my unfinished script. I won't have time to finish it in the next two months, so I will finish it afterwards.

- kills chickens at lumby and picks feathers
- fast chicken detection, but slow chicken clicking
- automatically gets the right mousespeed
- checks if we are at the chickens
- checks efficiency and gives feedback (not reliable atm)

I wouldn't recommend to use it "seriously", because it doesn't have any failsaves. (picks up eggs sometimes and so on)

I plan to add several features like world changing and range support.

The development of my script has actually been going faster than expected and I might enter it at the 20th or a few days before. Depends on the result of my poll though, not 100% sure yet if I want it to go public. I'm not sure how many I can make/remove per hour but I think it's around 200-500 per hour which would put the xp at around 6k-15k farming and construction xp per hour.

I'm mainly joining for the competition alone but I need to get 86 summoning on my summoning tank soon, which will cost me quite a lot. Oh yeah and I'm pretty sure it isn't 30m but 2-5m per category. SRL Members and Non-SRL Members so that's 4-10M in total :P (2-5M per winner).
