You can clearly see his intention is always on making great games. Unfortunately runescape isn't one any more….Perhaps he should also rs2006.net as a developer…

I don't think so, I like the idea of him moving away from Jagex/RuneScape. I hope whatever game he creates next, he sticks with until its in the dirt. He already said there won't be any outside investors so that's a plus already.

Edit: Not to mention, it would probably be illegal for him to work for rs2006 since he worked on RuneScape.

Also as a founder of rs, I don't think he gave him self a contract to prevent him to work for a competitor video game….Also the people for rs2006 aren't really working as their fund are purely voluntary and probably less than 10k a year which is what majority of country in the world requires before you start paying taxes.

Well, Andrew sold his shares of the company so he really doesn't have a say in anything anymore. I'm sure when he left Jagex, they said somewhere that he couldn't work for any private servers.

Private servers are also illegal. :)

They are illegal when they are making profit out of copyrighted material thou….

EDIT: That would also be the only way jagex can claim damage is done. Which is kind of sad because their are the creator of the game but people would rather pay to play a spin off of their game…

I love runescape as much as any one. And am talking about the real runescape (with all the skilling and question) and not just the pking and making "bills" like most people now days… Its just plain sad now…..

I'm pretty sure they're illegal either way because they're using/editing their client to connect to their servers. (which should be illegal, considering its illegal to look through their source for hooks)

They are using modified clients which means nothing they do could damage the real one. Again its on the same subject where you must cause damage to sue people.

For sure they can take it off but a court case won't be sufficient without sufficient damage. Otherwise what else could they sue for other than just asking them to take it off line?

Anyways I am happy with andrew working on his passion but have to leave his most beloved one.

I feel the same way, but RuneScape is being ran into the dirt by investors so I'm glad he's leaving.

Correct me but didn't he recently sell $75m worth of shares? And could this perhaps why he did so for the new game engine ect?

Something like that. I don't know if his original intentions were to start up a new game/company with the money, but its possible.

No, hopefully there won't be bots (which unfortunately is inevitable). Don't want it ruined like RuneScape.

Definitely gonna give it a shot when it's finished.

say java for server (for security and reliability), and c++ for client (for portability)

Do I see another runescape there? Someone is just going to use reflection no?

It's Andrew and the original developers I hold a sense of respect for. The ones who worked on Runescape through passion rather than getting rich quick. I would like to see that team back in action.

More power to you, Andrew.

From: FenResearch.com
Over the last 2 years we have been creating an ambitious new games engine / programming language, which introduces an entirely new way of thinking about and creating on-line games. The hard work is finally beginning to pay off and our game engine has now got to the point where we can start making real games with it, and we currently have two exciting games in production. Our plan is to first create and release some games for you to enjoy, and meanwhile we will carry on improving the engine to the point where (further down the line), we can share that too, as our ultimate plan is to let you have a go at modifying our games or even making your own games.

Was excited when he said something about sharing the engine also. Hopefully he's talking about releasing it open source, I'd love to see his coding style.
