Similar types of sites I've been a member of stay connected with a meebo Chatroom or something similar. I searched for chatroom and couldn't find results. just putting forward a possible site chat to have a bit more unity as a society.

A chatroom would distract from the forums, IMO.
We want people to post, as anything that is posted in a forum thread, will be helpfull to the next person with the same problem/need/whatever they were looking for.
Forums provide a clean history you can look through. If everyone asks questions on chat, they will keep asking the same questions
