Got a laptop with VGA out only.
TV has HDMI in only.

I've only found a few VGA to HDMI cables, and they all seem to have bad ratings at that…
(This is because it's not possible to do without extra equipment or something?)

So what's the cheapest/best way to get from VGA out to HDMI in?

Oh man, do I need to get one of these:

If buying one of those cables, youll have to ensure the frequencies are the same. (chances are they wont be)
The box //Should// fix this. you will also need a 3.5mm jack to jack for your audio as I believe VGA doesnt carry sound

Yea I know it doesn't carry audio for sure. I have 3.5s laying around thanks.

You can't go straight from VGA to HDMI :(, I know, I looked it up a ton (wanted to use old CRT's to game on). You need one of those converter boxes UNLESS your VGA port supports digital out [highly unlikely but worth trying to figure out].

This is what I did recently. I went HDMI to DVI adapter then a DVI to VGA adapter. Works for me.

What were you connecting to? Because you'd still be connecting using digital out I believe, not analog…

I think these are quite nice. Got one on my own for the same problem (think another version have just put the name into google and it was the first result I got) and it is working great for me.
