this does not mean that the bot is infected ,
He just hacked the server , and posted the passwords , as long as you dont store your account information in the clients and use keyscrambler there should be no problem

As if he isn't smart enough to add a pass-sender to the client or other methods to grab it?
This is why open source is the best. If someone hacks the server, the changes would show in the version-control logs. Worst they could do is modify the binaries but the checksums would change.

Wasn't me, I'm pretty sure it's the same guy who hacked Gh0sT.me when I had it. (I am Gh0sT). Also, the domain expired at the beginning of last month, so I guess anyone could have bought it.
I'd stay away. It wasn't hard to hack PowerBot the first time. I no longer dwell in these things, and haven't for a very long time (close to 7 months). I just wanted to clarify for some people. This guy somehow got access to the Gh0sT.me database from a Clean (and updated) MyBB install. For those of you who don't know, as far as security goes, MyBB is pretty secure. I also had many of the commonly exploitable plugins disabled: Portal, Calendar, etc. The only active plugins was a shoutbox (used on thousands of sites), and the actual forum.
If he is using my old StealthBot code (which was released):
http://pastebin.com/V4xqTYYUIf he is using the newer version, you have to
1. Uninstall Java Completely
2. Reboot your computer.
3. Keep an eye for any errors saying "*.jar is not a valid file" or something, because then the computer will be trying to execute a .jar with no java, and then delete those files and reg keys.
4. Re-install java.
The main reason for uninstalling Java is that the rt.jar has a dropped injected into it.
C:\.jagex_cache_32\ delete all .jar files
C:\Windows\.jagex_cache_32\ delete all .jar files
%APPDATA%\_____Jagex\ delete all jar files (%APPDATA% = C:\Users\[Username]AppData, different on windows xp.)
It does infect linux and mac distros, but only by dropping a file to user.home, and making a cron.
Hope this helps.

I can vouch that you are indeed gh0st, however I will say that what you did was nothing impressive. Publicly known sploits used to hack sites show nothing of great epicness. Writing viruses in a low level language(like vb, c-sharp, Java) is just wasting you're time writing them. The website does not prove anything, but I mean… It's going to happen whether or not that website says it will.

He says that he was not the one who did it this time - someone purchased his domain and is pretending to be him. There is no proof besides a supposed root password for one of the boxes - which is probably fake.

I'm a member of HF(hackforums) and there was a post a week and a half ago mentioning that yes, indeed RareBot has been infected officially, on a certain date. Till' then they just linger around and wait for user credentials to fly in to their server.
Proof…? Well, just on RareBot forums there's several raging kids that are outraged that they lost their gold after using their bot(kind of like the ones we get here stating that Simba hacked their account, but it is substantially increased over there)… For now, we'll just have to sit back and wait n' watch the fireworks if you ask me.

1. Public sploit? Do your research, there was nothing public about it.
2. Java and C# are low level languages? Do you even have an education?
3. What more than achieving upwards of $80,000 could have been achieved over writing a rootkit? I was not after real life money (credit cards and bank accounts). And for your information. I'm sure the virus is still 100% FUD. Hasn't been updated in 1 year, 2 months.

From what I hear - it indeed was a public sploit. Yes, Java and C-sharp are low level languages, they cannot be run without any Java or .Net . High level languages can be ran by the computer and can access the Kernel. Any .NET language has fail safes to stop you from writing viruses. Yes, you could argue that Java could, but have fun writing the extra bits and pieces to do so.
If they wrote a rootkit that protected the logic bomb from being detected and they waited a few weeks or even months after releasing a working client - people would add more money onto the accounts because they feel safer. But then again, you think c-sharp is a high level language. :p

Uh… it is. Are you getting your terms confused? A high level language is those that DON'T have to do "complex stuff" that a rootkit would require. Pascalscript for Simba is a high level language, for example. ASM would be an example of a low level language.

You hear from sources that lie. Or simply have their facts mixed up.
Low level / High level: The lowest level code that a processor can interpret (besides binary) is known as Machine Code. Assembly is the next step up. One more step higher bring you into languages as C. C technically isn't a low level language; however, many programmers consider it as one because it provides links to direct system memory addresses, so it can pretty much blend with assembly (it is abstracted from assembly). High level languages pretty much have to deal with objects. Funtions, threads, etc. Pretty much, High level languages cannot be converted DIRECTLY (they can be indirectly) converted to machine code. Java, C#, .NET, (and some low level programmers consider C++) are examples of high-level programming languages. There is another term known as "Very-High-level" programming languages, and those are pretty much application-based. If I'm not mistaken, whatever you guys use to code scripts in Simba is a "very high level" programming language, as is MSL.
There is no extra code to write in Java that they would not have had to in Delphi \ C++.
They could use Java, monitor the people's accounts, and then strike when they wanted… There is no need for a rootkit …

Basically 'gh0st' infected the RSBot Jar file with his own bot named StealthBot.

Higher level the language.. the shittier it is.. These languages tend to move away from direct access to protect programmers and clean up after them..
Today in class, we were asked to make a virus and sabotage eachother's computers and then fix another person's sabotaged computer.. guess who's was the only one to work? Mine and a couple others in my group.. why? because we weren't stupid enough to use .Net on completely brand new computers.. turns out they didn't have it installed, no internet on these computers because they have no drivers.. and we compiled statically Win32API.. The guys in class made extremely complexed crap that couldn't touch the memory and injected into explorer so they can open CD trays and all that other crap.. Mine wiped the drives instead.
Java and C# and all that stuff are so dependent on external libraries and dll's.. With these languages, programmers depend on Garbage collection for everything.. I'd say if your thinking that those are pro because they are easy for you to learn.. well I'd re-think that.. most of the hackforum new guys use VB and .Net and all that crap.. Doesn't make you pro. Just a Skid. Now there are some pro guys on Hackforums and HackThisSite.Org.. Exploit-DB, BackTrack Forums.. I don't really see them using dependent languages.
Pascal is high level.. but like I said.. the higher the level, the worse the language. Assembly is extremely hard to learn but is probably the best language out there or on the same level as the C languages.
C#, Java, Python, Ruby.. Useless.. I don't even know what to say about HTML.. don't even consider it programming.

A 'pro' wouldn't say nonsense like that. Can you explain me, why C# or Python are crap? It really depends on what you are doing. For instance, I don't find it very handy to write simple IDE in asm. However, when doing embedded software, assembler is top notch.
It's really stupid when people thinks it's not 'pro' to use e.g. garbage collector or any other high-level language features. They're useful and efficient when properly used.
A real programmer (not coder) knows many languages and uses them all efficiently.
Edit:
Also,
injected into explorer so they can open CD trays
doesn't make much sense. Why not simply use Windows API for that?

It actually isn't pro.. I can almost guarantee that most C# programmers do not know how to free objects or deal with memory as efficiently as a C or C++ programmer. I have a class full of C# programmers as I have to do it as well.. Intellisense helps them lots. It does depend on what your doing but on the other hand this is not the case for most programmers of C#.. they choose to use it because apparently it's easier for them to understand as they don't have to deal with a lot of shit they get from the other languages below it.
You probably say this because you program in C# and those languages. It does make sense.. go check hack forums and look at the CyberGate Rat or the DarkComet rat.. they use that method of injection.. Not WinAPI. Injecting into explorer allows on Windows 7 and Vista the privilege of not requiring admin rights to do certain activities.. Every time a Rat starts, it doesn't have to be ran as System or Admin.. it can run normally and still stay stealthy.. Of course they can always suppress UAC but it requires so much more work.
Secondly C# has to go through virtualization first! before it can execute shit all.. That right there downgrades the language and decreases speed.
@Jethrox.. you can ignore what you want. You just don't like what others have to say about ur bullshit.. ur stealthbot was pretty shit. Only caught stupid noobs actually.
Please lemmie know when C# decides to support Variadic Templates. Using a whole Marshall class to dereference a pointer.. LOL
C# is way easier to decompile and crack apps written in it.. even after the symbols have been stripped. Dynamic objects for everything with the New Operator is ridiculous.. u learn nothing from that. Managed Vs. Native.. sure you can google that right?
Only advantage C# has is that it's easier to use and that it doesn't recompile every header and stuff every single time.. thus compile times are faster.. but I can care less about compile time if my application is faster.

http://puu.sh/lUkihttp://puu.sh/lUljI can guarantee that you will never be able to write something as efficient as StealthBot was, and don't even pretend that you have the source code. No one has ever been able to refactor it. That IRC shit that was passed about last year was NOT StealthBot, that was written in 10 minutes to sell to some skids to make a quick few grand. How is roughly 33,000 RuneScape players only catching the stupid ones? It had a 100% infection rate of the people who used PowerBot. Mac OS X, Windows, Linux, all were infected. The entire project took about 3-4 days. I could give you a month, and you would not be able to produce anything remotely as secure and efficient as my project had been.
C# and .NET have their pros and cons, as does every language. In most cases, C++ and Java run neck-and-neck in most comparisons; however, it depends greatly on the implementation. I agree, if I were a real "hacker" and cared about building the largest botnet in the world, and stealing dem credit cards, and viewing people through their webcam as much as you do, then yes, C++ \ C \ ASM are the way to go, I would have had to case out specifically different methods for different system architectures as well as processors, and not to forget, operating systems. However, that was not the goal. The goal was to make a quick program that worked efficiently and effectively across all types of computers: Home computers, VPSs and Dedicated Servers, which is exactly what was accomplished. You can go ahead and Bash on .NET all you want, but at least have the decency to do research before you make false accusations.
You start talking about C# randomly, which is not even part of this argument… no idea why you would randomly jump into it. But hey, if you have nothing against Java, better for me. I don't have to make you look as stupid.
@Your latest post, Java has that functionality as well:

Also, I wan't to make it clear that I love C++. In order to be a great Java programmer, you have to be decent in C\C++.

A variadic template is like a function calling itself and checking the parameters every time..
thing of it like this..
In Simba you can do
TPA:= [Point(1, 2), Point(…), Point(…..)…. ] Up to infinity or the size of your TPA..
Now in Pascal and C#, you cannot have a function with infinite or any amount of parameters of unknown type..
Lets say you want a function to have 50 million parameters.. well how would you do this?
You'd have something like:
template <typename T> // Where T is an unknown type or user defined or a variable or any type.. Example would be TVariant.
void Function(const TypeHere FirstParam, T ... AllOthers) //Allows our program to have an infinite amount of parameters..
{
Function(FirstParam); //use the first parameter..
Function(AllOthers); //use the rest of the infinite/user defined parameters.. without doing setlength or giving it a size. It's fully dynamic.
return;
}
Now you can have a variable such as a dynamic array/vector hold infinite parameters/values..
Now the above is not exactly how I'd write it.. but it's just a quick example off the top of my head and shows the uses of it.
For the other stuff.. Dynamic object allocation is the New Operator.. every time you call it, you should free the object that used it.. It keeps stuff in memory/a buffer..
Example:
char * Meh = new char
; … made an array of characters with any size.. but we need to delete it after it is no longer being used.. so..
delete[] Meh; which deletes an array of objects/variables.. In C# you do not delete anything.. thus you learn no memory management as garbage collection will come and clean it up for you.. C# uses something called Generics instead of templates in which case, it's limited to many uses..
I can go on more if u like but it'd take long..

Wrong. On the opposite, you are able to use memory efficiently with high level languages. For example, C++ is notorious to have leaks as they're so easily created. However, proper use RAII prevents this, but still.

As I said, it really depends what you are doing. Some handy software is easy and fast to develop with C sharp. If you absolutely need speed, use C++.
By the way, did you know it's actually easier to inject managed code to different processes?

It's even easier to debug unmanaged code. They're not necessarily dynamic, even if the syntax requires so. In the end, it's up to compiler / interpreter what to do.
Of course you learn, even when doing C sharp. All the programming languages has the same idea and even syntax.

Games.. I program games, Bots, etc.. Those require speed.. I can assure you that it's much harder to inject into explorer than to just edit a registry key and have your app start that way.. so your definitely wrong there. Secondly.. Decompiling does not mean debugging so your mixing up your terms.. I said C# aka managed code is much easier to decompile (even when the symbols are stripped).. no where does that say debug.
I can almost guarantee that most C# programmers do not know how to free objects or deal with memory as efficiently as a C or C++ programmer.
You are misreading badly.. no one said that the high level languages do not deal with memory.. I was stating this entire time that the languages do the memory management for you.. it is a fact that most C# developers would not deal with memory as efficiently as a developer of a native application written in C or C++ due to the dependencies on GC.. In my classes, the guys that do not know C or C++ have no idea about memory management or pointers or what I mean by dynamic allocation with New. so your wrong there. C# does the work for you.. the programmer does nothing.
C# teaches you logic.. not really anything else as far as I'm concerned.

No, with managed API you don't have WOW64 restrictions for instance and the injection is more straightforward.

Why the programmer need to do something regarding memory management? The idea of higher-level programming language is that it's efficient and resistant to programmer's mistakes.
From: ggzz

Nah, you are over-exaggerating a bit there. C# is full featured programming language; what you need to learn from other languages that C# doesn't provide, excluding hand-made memory management?
Brandon
2012-03-22 17:25:14
No, with managed API you don't have WOW64 restrictions for instance and the injection is more straightforward.
Well I think this argument is going to go on forever at this rate.. Lets get this clear quick.. WOW64 is platform dependent.. only needed for 64 bit computers.. Btw.. for both 64 and 32 bit computers.. the registry for the Run Key is in the same location.. CurrentVersion/Run.. so that has nothing to do with it.. the RegOpenKeyEx function will be much faster than injecting anything.. that's for sure.
A programmer should always know how to manage memory.. what good is it to write a program and not know how your memory is managed or works.. getting in the habbit of having things done for you is pretty bad.. You never remember code, your rely on drag and drop.. there's many things.. One example is the stack overflow when doing recursive functions..
Teacher was teaching them recursive functions in C#.. they did not know how the memory works and assumed the garbage collection would clean up after them for that.. bam allocated too much memory by having the function call itself so many times.. With the lack of knowledge of memory management things like this WILL always happen.
High level languages are there to help provide an easier way for new programmers and existing programmers.. not to take away from the old languages which is what microsoft did.. it's the same reason they push C# and F# over C & C++.. they removed the intellisense for C++ when it worked perfectly fine in 08.. This way more ppl lean on the ease of using C#'s api's and learn nothing about the internals..
Program to learn and do things and make life easier.. not to just get shit done. As for besides memory managemet.. one would be portability.. external libraries.. most programmers of .Net do not know how to use external libraries.. .Net as a whole provides every single thing for you.. Since you program in C++ you know a button is a Window.. try asking .Net programmers what type of control a button is.. Ask them simple questions.. they cannot answer because they do not know. In the case of portability.. I can guarantee a lot of them do not even consider it.. as in the case of the virus exam we had today.

Not everyone who programs in .Net knows nothing about how memory is managed. It's up to the programmer to fully understand how something works and why. I'm always conscious about how memory is allocated in the programs/code that I write, and always optimize it to the best that I can. I've always turned off intellisense, it was annoying. I've never used drag and drop, I always type out the controls I want and the placement for them. Anyone who says they're a programmer and uses drag and drop is lazy, plain and simple.

I absolutely agree with you on this. I love the art of programming, the knowledge gained when having that "eureka!" moment. I always write programs to do things that makes my job a hell of a lot easier.

I would say that the people who don't take the time to understand the language they're programming in are lazy and shouldn't be considered a programmer. At the very least go back to school for it. Although, I never went to school for programming, just self taught and fascinated with how everything ties together. I know I don't know everything, but each day is a learning experience.

If I own a gold farming 'company', a shady illegal company that sells stolen products.
1. create a "Free" popular Bot site, accumulate users passwords and gold farming accounts.
2. I will have a puppet name London whom live in France as my paper emperor.
3. I then purposely design and release an exploit via whispers to an Socially naive kid hacker who can't refuse the bait for online fame. (let's call him Spirit*)
4. Wait for the public announcement.
5. Watch it happen and use this opportunity for my planned mass hacking to occur at the same time.
6. When Most of the accounts are hacked, let Spirit, my pastie, take all the "credit"
7. Laughing all the way to the bank. Perfect crime.

Phase 6) get a kid to go around lying to everyone saying a developer fucked off on holiday (with stolen rsgpz turned into $$$ no doubt)
Phase 7) Erase all traces of rarebot and release the same client without the keylogger at powerbot within a month
now your thinking…. uhh why would they do that?

This was all just a bet.
It was to see how long it would take this fag
known as Toil \ Josh \ FlaminFlash
to take credit for this "hack."
My bet was 6 hours…
Unfortunately it took him
one day and nine hours.
Joshua Rogers, you are a fucking retard.
Before the retard claims that it is fake… this is proof.
Now that the bet is over.
No need to keep that fake warning up.

I don't do that stuff anymore, I don't see any point of taking credit for it. No need to build on a reputation that I don't want to exist anymore. Hacking is sad, and I've seen how true that is over the past half a year.
Didn't you get hacked by some other guy LOL?

This is why I love our community. Open source, and none of my actual important information is on here. No need to worry about this kind of stuff.

Ghost did not hack Powerbot -.-
He was a Powerbot developer and had acces to the bot. All he did was uploading a Keylogger into the client. That's no big deal =)

As far as I know, he didn't insert any ``Normal" keylogger, he injected it with StealthBot.

Have seen this on a few forums now. When i read it the first time i was quite worrying as its not the fact that id lose my accounts items/gold its the fact that id would have to spend even more time earning them back.
Please stop bumping this thread.
