Bash Bash Bash - Can I buy my way in?

Some of you guys here need to get this fact straight - All scripts here are free.

So before you call the public scripts being shitty, think about who you are trying to insult here. Always remember there are many scripts in the public section. Some are working very nicely, and some do have bugs. Nevertheless there are a good amount of scripts already available to the public that runs *flawlessly* (aka known to be able to hit the 6 hour limit with little problems)

If you are unhappy with the state of the scripts, there are a few things you can do.
- Don't use it. Switch to another.
- Fix it :)
- Make your own.

If you're unable to do any of the above, and instead whine about how simba scripts suck in general, you need to stop and think again. Not having time to learn is one of the most commonly said things from these people, and it is never an excuse. Let me tell you this - If you don't have time to learn/fix the things, just don't bot altogether. There are people who have spent a lot of hours on scripting and releasing something to the public for everyone's good, so learn to appreciate it and try to give as much as positive feedback as possible. Even if it doesn't work, saying what's wrong is better than saying this piece of s*** sucks. Of course, there are times the scripts don't work very well, but please understand many of us here may be new, or are just in the process of perfecting their skills. At least show some respect to these people, because 1. they saved your time from reading the tutorials you probably will never read and 2. they saved your wallet from buying pay scripts :)

Now for those who're always dreaming for access to the higher sections for the scripts, you also need to rethink what you're trying to do here. Scripts at the higher sections are usually there for a few reasons.

- Incentives for you guys to achieve this community rank
- If released the market impact is significant. maybe natures?
- Leechers don't deserve to get their work for nothing :(

Scripts in the higher sections are more consistent in terms of quality, because they are done by the recognized and more experienced scripters. But they aren't the reasons you think you can leave public scripts in the trashcan and *dream* your way to these sections. For those who think you can learn more by getting access to these scripts, again your logic is badly flawed.

I started by remaking someone's public script, and progressed up from there. You can argue the better scripts used more refined techniques, but the thing is, we all use the SRL includes. Our methods do not differ significantly. Instead, they're mostly the same, just that some are more refined than others and break less often/ take into consideration of more failsafes/ so on.

In fact, some of you perhaps have underestimated your potential. Let me reiterate this once again - By the time you are able to earn members, you should be able to make most if not anything that is possible and that you want. If time commitment is a problem, then take it slowly. There is no need to rush because everyone has a life and their reasons (thanks to the guys who helped me in the other thread). However, if you think not having time is a reason that you shouldn't do your own work, then go back to the previous part and reread that part. :)

Finally, there are still some of you whose mentality is still stuck in the reflection era, where you can buy a script and call it a day. This does not work here. Sorry if I poked your bubbles, but unfortunately for you, all scripts here at villavu are free, and you are not our customers, nor are we your paid developers.

If you seriously think that money can buy you scripts, go elsewhere :( Also buying your way into the higher sections is impossible. Don't bother paying someone to do it for you, or buy off someone's script so you get through. We will catch you and you will burn in hell for that :(

Last time I heard the members rank is worth some 100m rsgp? :) I like that, but all that matters is the yellow text which means I have achieved something throughout my stay here. If you have a problem with that, you probably should rethink what you are trying to do here.

Agree totally with you. Even though I haven't even started on a script. Reason: idk but I don't even have time to bot, only to post this. Lol!

Exactly what I did first, Than I went on the tutorial forum to read tut on How to script, so I could bring back some broken script than I made my first script from 0 to everything :-)

+ Rep and I totally agree with you too!

Thanks for the support guys.

The funny application with a copied script that won't even compile today further reinforces my thought that some of the guys here really need re-education on how things work here :(

Ya, I saw it too. Can't believe someone did Copy/Paste a Script and Furthermore, This person didn't even took the time to look if it was working. This is very disappointing…

This is for sure the Worst Plagiarist script I have ever seen so far in my life.

It's actually very hilarious. He had to be quite courageous to do that and he actually tried to defend his actions ;) But again the idea is, plagiarism has always been caught and will always be :)

+1 to that!

When I came here some 4 years ago, I came for the free scripts. But stayed for the community, the learning opportunity and to try and learn scripting myself. Since then, I stopped coming here and stopped playing RS. More recently I came back, and have tried my darnedest to try and get scripts to work. I post my problem, and request some help/ direction to be given, then I go into the script and try and figure it out. In the near future I plan on fixing someone else script and putting my own touch on it to get into it, and then I plan on scripting up my very own script. Here's looking to the future, and here's looking to having those whiners STFU and move on to some other community they can freeload off of.

Thanks for the explanation, and I like the system personally, but I have a few questions/statements about it. Good or bad, right or wrong I just wanted to point some things out for a, hopefully, good discussion, and maybe positive ideas for the site. My standpoint has become (and this means nothing from this new account, I know, but here it is): I like the community, but I wouldn't try to use it for 'worthwhile' scripts because by the time I'd be able to get the higher tier scripts I'd be able to either program my own or have simply played RS and grind through the (many would argue anyway) much less boring game. However because of what others have pointed out; the leeching problem (both in the community here or wherever + also on the RS market) higher quality members/scripts, I do see it as a better management system than those found in other sites. And either way I know my opinion won't change anything this big, but I'm sure my 'cons' have been thought of and maybe 'solved' one way or another that I've yet to think of.

It will help prevent some major issues, I just wanted to point out some cons of the system. Does it seem to help the community? As you said- by the time you do enough scripting you'll know how to do most the things you can with it- so whats the use in a higher tiered forum? I know one reason would be sharing the top scripts to better everyone's skills, but with that same thought wouldn't it be better to share with everyone regardless of when they joined/how often they contribute? It may also cause many very good scripters to not want to use the site. I know that the fact that they are shared freely is important, and I personally would hate to see this changed, but I've know many great scripters who wouldn't want to share their scripts (at least one or two of the best ones anyway) without some way for people to pay or at least donate. This is because they've had to work so hard to get their level of skill, which is something a higher percentage achieve here thanks to this system, but with putting in tons of work into something like this people want a return of some sort. I think this is greedy, and against the spirit here, but I just wanted to point it out for the sake of discussion regardless of whether I agree or not.

On the topic of time spent learning- my (so of course this won't fit many other peoples situations, but as an example) entire reason for botting is that grinding takes too much time, and I play runescape while I'm hospitalized with little to do. Yes this is time I could be grinding, or learning, but I'm trying to enjoy the game while I'm miserable irl, so doing 'work' like this isn't exactly fun. Other than that most of my time is spent trying to keep a roof over my head/food on the table/disabled mother happy/earning my bio degree, things made harder being disabled myself. Becoming a great scripter takes a good amount of effort and time, things which could simply be spent playing the game itself. And again, I like the way this site works, I think the community is friendlier, less juvenile, etc. but it also seems much deader than many other bot communities, at least while they were/are running; so while I don't think it should be changed too much, I do think some tweaks might help 'liven up' the community. And I'm gonna leave it at that for now- I need to sleep some, been lacking too much lately- already forgot a few of the things I wanted to point out in this post :duh:

Edit: Forgot to put this in due to lack of sleep- I could be greatly overestimating what it takes for one to become welcomed in the higher level here, maybe it's simply having modified a script in a positive way, I'm not sure on what the exact guidelines are. If this is the case, and it truly does take an average computer user only a short time to learn enough to be allowed in, then a good portion of my comment is basically useless and can possibly be ignored.

@otakun: The time you spent learning scripting will be payed back to you every morning you wake up and find you have made another mil or 200.000 xp. It sharpens your mind, and gives great satisfaction. To become respected in this community is a goal in itself and however humble or great your achievements are, there is a place for you here. Keep up your good spirit, dont lose focus and learn step-by-step.

Edit: Im Also Learning to script by modding public scripts to either fix the bugs/learn how to make it faster etc. i love all the tutorials that go step by step, and all SRL Member will jump up to help you when asked. This community is fantastic, and i hope to be a *higher Rank* some time in the furture.

I've seen a lot of whining… I mean I can understand the frustration if something doesn't work BUT whining gets you nothing and especially when you see something like "MSI su**s" or "omg F*** you all why doesnt this work"… is really dissapointing. As someone who has no scripting talent yet, I look forward to the day I do…

@ otakun, all the points you made there were valid but…

WE ARE A PROGRAMMING AND LEARNING COMMUNITY BEFORE A BOTTING COMMUNITY

And also, only took me a month to get SRL Member, if you're dedicated enough you could get it earlier (though you would need a very good script)

2012-04-21 09:47:43

all points correct except many here do sell scripts, not here of course, but on sythe or other communities so it is possible for people to get into members without knowing anything about simba, payin for someone to do a script to apply with, and as long as both their mouths shut and the script wasnt released here how can members know?

i mean, we all know alot of members sell scripts on sythe, you just need 5 mins on their section to see that, and members are free to sell whats theirs of course, but that is a way to get into srl members or get the scripts on srl members

many people only see $$$ and forget that we should enjoy the free scripts we have and learn the way necessary to one day be worthy to become member with our own knowledge

This is what i love about Villavu i see it time and time again "Need Help Will PAY Pl0x" we don't want your money were about community not finance… i my self came here for the scripts at first but after looking around i felt i needed to learn the language and repay with a script for all the ones ive used in the past (and i really am learning)

no matter how many question i ask or what about they always seam to get solved by some one fantastic!

do agree with you though Er1k and people only need to take a look around and will see

A very nice thread. I came here thinking it was a botting community with like a few scripters and a bunch of complaining people, same as other botting community's, which I will not state (not sure if it's allowed).
But this really is a different approach and I like it better this way! I always wanted to learn a bit more about scripting, and there would be no better site than Villavu I guess :).

Thanks for clarifying things Er1k!
