During the 1920's, a neurologist named Sigmund Freud concocted a theory in which the human psyche would be broken up into three categories: The id, the ego, and the superego. These three parts slowly mature as we humans mature, but sometimes it is possible for one of these "personalities" to show more than the others.
The id is an extremely child-like part of the human personality. It can be summarized as the basic drive to achieve pleasure, without the least bit of consideration for anything else but the end goal. As long as pleasure is achieved, the id is content.
The superego is an over-developed personality, we know it as our conscience. During our childhood, our parents and mentors act as our conscience while our super ego develops. In the end, the super ego is basically a parent inside your head reminding you to always do the right and straightforward things.
In between these two comes the ego. The ego is meant to be the perfect personality as it is a balance between the id and the superego - one follows personal desires for pleasure while keeping in mind what effects your actions will have on the systems around you.
Now to compare these to the runescape botting community:
id: Basically goldfarmers. They don't care about anyone, or anything else besides themselves. Their motto? We don't give a duck. All they think about is themselves - how much money they're making. They don't care about other people. They don't care about the game. Thank the lord that along with nexus, goldfarmers were eliminated too (for the most part).
Also quite id-y, but not always, are leechers. They just want a free script, and they want it to work swimmingly. If theres a problem, they might rage. They don't give back, they just think about themselves.
superego: Legiters? (I guess). They're too omfgzczcsdf botting is bad, I'll get banned. But I'm not complaining about legiters, its not a bad thing to legit. They just are superego-ish.
In our community… maybe people that say things like "OMG DONT RELEASE THIS SCRIPT IT'LL CRASH EVERYTHING" To a certain extent, the previous statement can bet true, but some people just take it too far. In times like these, it is important to maintain this attitude, just because runescape is well… runescape. But don't take it too far. I belong in this category, I think :P
ego: I think our community just falls into the ego category as a whole. We're pretty aware of what effects pursuing our desires can have - so we have rules and regulations and things such as SRL members, etc. This is why I believe we're a pretty awesome community, because as a whole we fall into the best personality type :P
