The old thread brought me great enjoyment, because it lowered my IQ to the point where I thought the use of memes were appropriate for anything other than having half a chuckle over an incestuous joke. Unfortunately, I then stopped looking at the pretty pictures and I realised it was just stupid.

After that, I spent a minute debating whether or not to add my load to this compost heap of a thread series by producing some My Little Pony fanfiction. I decided against it though, since that would require me watching an episode or two - I'm way too much of a professional to just make it up.

Instead, I settled on continuing my essay on the worthlessness of memes. For starters, a meme is simply a way to provide instant background to something. For example, let's say you ran in to someone who did something you didn't agree with. Rather than get over it and not bother to share with others (because no one cares at all) you just bring up a picture of a ruffian with a hat and tell the world about the "Scumbag Steve" you ran in to. There is no comedic value to it. If I were to analogise it, I would say it's like drinking salt water to quench your thirst.

The second problem is that it's unoriginal. Possibly the most important reason for their success is that people can relate to it - everyone has run in to a "Good Guy Greg" who held the door open for them. So, because everyone can relate to it, they put emotional worth in it and form a connection to it; after all, if it also happened to you, then you want to tell everyone else about it as well! The only problem is it's already happened to everyone, so they know about it. That doesn't get in anyone's way and, like influenza, it broadcasts through the online populace.

Finally, since I'm growing tired of wasting my time, is the whole idea that you need a picture. You don't. The picture is just because you're trying to communicate to people who are lazy and resentful of anything approaching work. Those are the people you shouldn't ever want to communicate with. They are not worth it. A picture of a penguin isn't some cultural reference or based on penguins embodying being either socially awkward or awesome, they're just a penguin. You could use anything else and, so long as the name caught enough momentum, it would stick.

In conclusion, every single meme is useless and pointless. They are all nothing but poor jokes for the comedically challenged, unable to be original or thought-provoking.

Thank you for reading and feel free to take all of the fucks I don't give about your (pathetic excuse for an) opinion.

I don't see how any of that is related to the original post, so it will be marked as spam.

All I'm doing is trying to get my original thread back.

Instead I have these assholes who keep posting nothing concerning the OP.

I already gave you an answer two threads ago.

You won't get this changed.

Done. There is no need for people to spam over this anymore.
