SmartSetMaxJVMMem Not Working

From my last problem, I need to allocate more heap space to SMART.

I'm calling this after SetupSRL and it doesn't use any extra memory (SmartSetMaxJVMMem(2160)).

Is there a limit or should I be calling it before SetupSRL (gives me an access violation)?

Just set it the 'real way' by opening the Java via control panel.
There is a place to enter code/parameters so look online and see what to enter to increase space.
Also! On RS type ' ` displayfps (press enter) ` to get heap info at top right.

From any of the commands I found, you need to have a "target" of the command. I haven't found anything for setting the default heap size for all java applets unless specified.

I don't know if libsmart.dll, smart.simba, etc would work even once the function in libsmart is re-run to set the max heap anyways.

I may have been setting it too large too, so I will try lower settings and see how that works.

– I just tried Java -Xms256M -Xmx512M … it did not give any errors? so i assume this worked? if i did something wrong let me know :O because i dont know how to find this number without playing runescape another 2-3 mins and crashing and looking at the log… but! i will go try and log on now…

so far so good! - 15 mins and no crash :D i think it worked ^_^ your a genius bud! thank you very much for you help!

Just open Java
(Control Panel> Java > Java Tab> View > Double Click the proper line and edit the 'Runetime Paramers') Is where you enter -xmx and -xms settings. So same for the 'System' tab too I've seen in many places that this often helps.

Must be called before SmartSetup is called. Also, do you know for sure that SMART honors the control panel settings? I would assume it didn't.

The 32bit Java also doesn't like setting the max mem to anything higher than 2048M.

Oooh, setting it to 2048 was giving me access violations, 1024 worked :D. (SmartSetMaxJVMMemory or whatever)

But that's the max, but I won't necessarily see anything until it has been running for a while, memory-use wise.

Do you mean to say that you don't see SMART take up 1 gig of mem in the task manager? Because that's the expected output, since you only specified the max amount of memory, not the min(which you probably can't).

Ya, that's already exactly what I said.

I was running it at 1024, but after the update today, it was throwing all kinds of errors, and moving to 512 let it all load (was failing at 97% fetch updates with a null pointer and some other things).
