I was in my library at school studying for my science project when I saw my friend tell me to come over there. There was like a hacker, he was on Runescape and cmd, no idea how he got on that. He started doing something with cmd and all these are wierd programs. And he kept writing codes that this thing generated down and doing something with them in notepad. Money kept going in his pouch and I was like WTF, how!!?!? He kinda just ignored us and the bell rang so we had to go. Any idea what happened?

You don't get private servers with money pouch l, aren't all of them 30-40 updates behind the actual game? Money pouch seems like a recent game build.

and are you talking about command prompt? or the runescape console. If you're talking about command prompt, there is no correlation with that and money making hacks on rs (other than being used with a cheat engine if anything). Only thing he could probably do, which is highly unlikely, is get peoples Ips, and that in itself is probably not possible.

I'm sure it was not real. Could you imagine if someone actually found out how to generate Runescape Gold with a command? Someone could make a lot of money by just selling Gold at a cheap price.
If anything it was prob a program called artmoney or something I used that in rsc to trick friends only problem is it all client side so tho you see your money going up soon as you log out or spend any it revert back to normal

My little bro had some program that could make his character wear armor like bandos, 3rd age etc on the runescape game however it was static or something and it would only appear to the person playing on the computer and no one else would see it, for example me looking at the computer I would see him wearing all the expensive gears etc but other players would see him wearing nothing, he also had something that could change the amount of items in his inventory for example he had a maxed out cash stack but once he tries to bank it it would either dissapear or deposit the true amount he had(example 50k).

Yeah its possible all they do is change the current id's. There are a few youtube videos of people running around G.E as Jad, and dungeoneering bosses/NPC's however nobody else can see it as you said, so why not?
/w cheating engine you can edit the value of ur coins to whatever you want, the server knows how much money you have however and touching the coins (like trading or dropping them) will change the value back to their normal :p
I saw a video once (It was made with a hand held camera, not hypercam so it couldn't have been edited very easily) where someone logged onto to runescape and generated a stack of negative money. He then bought a green phat on the Grand Exchange, and sold it to a guy for 1B. When the trade was over the guy was like "Wow" and the guy making the vid logged out. It seems like the scenario of where only the person doing the glitch can see the item, but so can everyone else, except when it leaves their possession, it disappeared. Maybe it was something along those lines.

the commands they can run is:

errortest
nativememerror
printfps
occlude
fpson
fpsoff
cleartext
gc
compact
unloadnatives

csprofileclear
csprofileoutputc
csprofileoutputt
texsize
soundstreamcount
autosetup
errormessage
heapdump -> C:\tmp\heap.dump\
os
w2debug [5] or [0] [20-24 enables some sort of room debug?]
ortho [do 1 to enable] [0 to disable]
orthozoom [zoomnumber]
orthotilesize [number] doesnothing?
orthocamlock
setoutput
closeoutput
runscript
zoom
fps
shiftclick
and there is much more now! all you had to do is to download the client/loader and modify some class files with hex editor so the client will execute the staff commands on regular users. credits to bugabuse.

Net send was a command that you could send to every computer thats linked on a server. You can type whatever message you want and send it would pop up on everybodys computer. :p I did it like 8th grade, my teacher flipped, hilarious :).
On topic: I guarantee there's a way to hack runescape, the people who can truly do it will most likely not say HEY I HACKED RUNESCAPE, FREE GPS for obvious reasons. Ex: Fally Massacre. But they will probably just use it for personal gain. Artmoney, Hex editors only do client side stuff for the most part, so you might have been witness to that, or as others have said private server.

It's called hex editing, what you saw wasnt the cmd (most likely, it could have been a cmd based hex editor though that would just hurt my brain) more or less you check for a value, change it slightly and check again to be sure you have the correct value. Once you find it you can edit the value as you see fit (client-side).

I could also make it appear as if I have 987654321 health and -123456789 prayer points remaining. How has nobody heard about that? I call BS on this one.
Hacking RuneScape just isn't possible, especially by a kid.
Oh come on, not everyone lives in fantasy land and plays Runescape all day.
Maybe it is possible by a kid.. who loves computers, programming, hacking, networks, etc.. I don't know. It's possible for a kid to do nuclear reactions, etc.
It does sound like what that other guy said about using cmd to hex edit addresses, though. You saw him pasting, using notepad, and money going into his pouch.
So that leaves out mudding..
Now on to the improbable. There was a pouch update. Whenever something new comes into play, so do potential vulnerabilities (usually). Think about it.. maybe there's something different about having money added to your pouch, than just adding money to your "gold coins." Then again, maybe Dejavu is just screwing with us.
Edit: I guess I can expand on this to give one possible case. Let's say the client sends a packet to the server when money is added to the pouch. Packet edit, change, done. (No security checks by Jagex..)
Now, since most good games are server side, let's say you edit the money value you put in your pouch to be negative. Now we are manipulating a vulnerability in the game's code because it fails to handle commands properly. This is a bug.
The most common vulnerability areas in games have been saving/loading (duplicating) and negative numbers (money, usually)
I bet Dejavu finds out it was just hex editing and never tells us.
