A little discovery...

I don't know if people already are aware of this but..

When you hop worlds using the button on the bottom left center of the login screen two things don't happen : A new UID is NOT created.
Colours do NOT change.

We all know what THIS means :)

Oh my goodness gracious. No new UID? Kasdikfashkachfodjf. =]

It could have its uses eh? :p

Ok so I'm a little confused now. Is this what you can do…?

* Log in to signed applet
* After loading, go delete the UID.
* Log into that world, buy feathers.
* Log out, switch worlds, log back in. Same character.

…And it doesn't create a new UID? Soz, I'm just a tad confused with that. :)

Me too. It reads the UID as soon as the applet is open and its stored on your pc and probably also virtual memory, so if you change players, although its not physically in .jagex_cache_32 or whatever, its still in virtual memory.

2007-03-25 16:52:57

yep thats right

wow nice discovery!!!

Minimap RockColor, WaterColor and Symbols stay the same?!

dont worry about the virtual memory thing, its always been around
it does acctually happen, i remember reading somewhere about a certain variable which stores it in the runescape client

Wait so does that mean when people multi log and go pk their items to transfer etc, overall jagex knows that they're from the same comp because of the memory thing??

Glad you like it :)

Would have told you in person but you wernt on MSN :(

And guys, the obvious fix to the memory thing is to delete the UID before you log on. The UID check occurs after login so no UID when you log in makes it all better :)

This is a great find so this will make world switching much easier. Is Jagex trying to make it easier for us?

Nah it's all about swiftswitch etc.

ruler

Everything operates the same as before, just at login you can change world. UID is still made/read at applet creation.

SignLink objects are made but dont change on world change or user/pass change.

Color randomization is handled by the client. It changes as first login / "World map offset" change.

Swift switch is getting gayer by the second.
They have to comply with too many new RS rules its crap.
We need a reblle swift switch version.

This is perhaps useful to try to prevent a link between your autoers and your main. But it doesn't prevent a link between your autoers themselves.

Even if you get a new UID every time you load the client, as long as you continue to use that instance of the applet all the characters you log in will register as having the same UID.

As far as I know the only way to prevent that link is to world-hop between players using SCSS so that it gets a new UID for each autoer.

I know,
but im saying doing that will keep colors constant, correct?

Who cares about UID, we delete that anyway. :p
No changing colors! Very nice.

more of dont use the same applet to login into multiple accts. They will all be linked.

Yakman

2007-03-26 03:35:07

the accounts are linked, so what, if you auto correctly you will never get banned

if you want to stop the UID thing, you could use one of those memory editor things, but thats not really practical

Boreas

2007-03-26 07:30:04

My army is in teams, A-G, H-N. So if one player gets banned, and they UID chain ban (which they probably won't), the worst that could happen is 7 players banned/blackmarked/flagged.

Scary and o so true.

I know, but my players have always been linked.. unsigned java = temp UID in memory, If you just delete UID every time you start up RS, you can auto signed too.

But UID doesn't matter, since I never get banned anyway.. no char in 8 months..

So UID data only goes out in packets when you login? Sweet, I presumed it was constantly checked from the applet in virtual memory, then reported to the server if its been edited.

OK, I'm a little nervous right now lol. whats UID and why do you guys delete it? because I don't, and now I'm probably going to get an IP ban or something from jagex or something worse right? lol. Could somebody explain to me what UID stands for, what its used for and why we delete it? thanks :D

Gah. Where's the "Just fucking googleit" smilie when you want it :p

Its a file stored in C:/Windows/.jagex_cache_32 then logs which accounts you've used at what time. If one of your account get caught autoing, all in that list get banned. ALWAYS delete it. SetupSRL deletes it every time its run :p

*sighs of relief* whew, thanks mouse :) And I think the sign you were looking for is :google: and if I did google it, it wouldn't just pop up and say SetupSRL; deletes your UID every time :) thanks for the help :D

True ;D

No probs. I only ever delete it when Im trading stuff between accounts and stuff.

Just a little note: Applet reloads when you switch from f2p -> p2p world and vice versa.

m0u53m4t

2007-03-26 17:40:07

So…

Open applet, delete uid, login, do stuff, logout, go to f2p world, got back to p2p world, re-delete uid and carry on?

Can anyone confirm if the colours change after you've been to f2p?

I'm almost positive that they stay constant.

Also a note on that is that if you haven't delted uid.dat ever, then there might be one still located in the .filestore32 folder..
