I just strolled into the SRL competition subsection and saw the official competitions that were held like ages ago. I looked a bit and I think it's actually a very nice idea to get people to script. One thing I'm aware here is that peoples' first scripts are often similar (powerchoppers, miners, rcers, etc) and IMO they don't really do much other than illustrating the basics of scripting. My idea is - what if scripts are forced to compete with each other? In terms of speed, stability, features, technique and amongst other things? I think it is a nice idea for new scripters to get their hands on more serious scripting. Having scripts compete with each other or against a benchmark is a very nice way to motivate scripter to strive for the best script.
I am aware this will require a lot of efforts from the senior members to judge the scripts and such. Nevertheless I believe the possibilities of having new SRL SCs should be explored. Opinions?
