I have tried BMP and colour detection yet both seem to be unreliable methods of finding the pure essence image in the bank / inventory. Should I make a DTM for the pure essence and try that?

Yeah, it's really not that hard and works great for inventory items.

OR for bank you could just use the Withdraw(1,1,28);

or instead of 28 however many you want.
