I'm not currently into graphic designing, but I would like to learn how. Downloading the 400$ for free because it's free :p

Downloading is legal. Sharing it with others may not be legal depending on the country you are in.

Also many of these programs on torrent sites have "activation" schemes. And circumventing this is also illegal? (Or at least against TOS)

While the companies that create such programs would like you to believe it is illegal, violating a ToS is not necessarily illegal. It just voids your warranty basically, among other things.

It depends on where you live like Wizzup? said, but in the USA the law literally says you can share up to 10 copies of a single file amounting to $1000 or less in a 30 day period. Or maybe it is $100. I can't remember. File sharing, like botting, requires planning and knowledge. Bot smart, share smart.
