Silent SPY is Laptop Hunting

A few of you may have seen in one of my threads (but probably not) that my laptop died….

I'm trying to find a new one, but I'm very, very picky about Laptops. My last one lasted for a solid 7 years, and I like that kind of reliability. Toshiba is by far my favorite brand, as I've had nothing but good luck with their products.

Now, here is where I need some opinions from you all. If you know of a fantastic laptop that you can personally vouch for please post it here so I can look at it.

Somethings it needs/cannot have:

  • Good Battery life
  • Cannot be HP (everyone I know has had bad experiences with them)
  • Must not have Intel integrated graphics (they suck)
  • Prefer at least a quad core
  • AMD > Intel (IMHO) - Specs could prove otherwise though
  • Decent sized HDD
  • 15.6" screen

The laptop I'm currently considering is this one:
Toshiba Satellite P755D-S5378 $662.99
It has good quality for a good price. I have to get a little bit of money together still for a laptop, but this gives you a ballpark of my price range. (+- $100 from that)

Go post crazy people!

Sidenote: I already have a desktop, so please no posts about getting a desktop for better price for performance, I'm well aware of this. I need a laptop as I'm kind of moving around a lot these days.

He wants a reliable laptop and good cutstomer support when he needs it.

My friend bought this exact laptop in november and he said it sucks for the price.

He told me it was a overpriced piece of shit and wanted his money back. It just looks pretty that's all.

@OP:

Im an amd fanboy so im going to suggest this http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=1889914&CatId=4938

but i am going to note that anything bigger than 13" screen is going to have average battery life which can be 2-5hrs depending on usage.

Now as far as intel goes.

I would always go for ASUS they make the best type of laptops IMHO, and they have always had the best warranty.

And the customer support is just great.

So many options to choose from as i dont know your price range

but this is nice too

Looks like the Toshiba you picked is the best option for the price.

I have a similar Toshiba laptop and am missing the GPU yours has. Nice choice, this is by far my favorite laptop so far.

Only thing I don't like is the touch screen buttons are to the left of the keyboard and I hit them accidentally all the time.

I'm an AMD fanboy too lol. That's why I have AMD > Intel.

Thanks for the suggestions. I'm looking over them all :)

Do you have the sub-model number on that? There are like 40 different Asus K53S's and I can't seem to find the one you suggested.

I should also throw out there that I'm a fan of AMD/ATI graphics over Nvidia, but they seem kind of rare to find discrete cards in the market I'm looking for…
