Cleansing the ranks?

Dear SSRL and above,

What is your say on the proposition to demote all of the SRL members and make them reapply. Well, the ones we are uncertain of at least. I believe it is necessary at our current stage and is in due course due to the recent (?) "bot-nuke" with the influx of users and those wanting to script.

Perhaps, also 'up' the requirements for those who will be re-applying to regain their status of SRL Membership, instead of the simpler scripts they used to apply with (since they should be more advanced).

Debate and discuss.
Cheers,
Daniel.

P.S: For some reason I get that feeling that I'm missing something vital from this post. Hence, when (if) I remember it, I will post and state an edit has been made. :)

I don't understand the need. If perhaps there are a couple that got in with someone else's script, they have now noticed that the members scripts aren't that awesome. So they go inactive.

No.

We do not purge. However, we are currently discussing and idea that may be somewhat of a compromise.

I honestly don't see why everyone is against a cleanse, it needs to happen. SRL Members isn't like it use to be and I hate it, it needs to be brought back up to it's prime.

It hasn't been in its prime for over 3-4 years. The world changes. Just like our world is no longer at it's prime. People cry and protest about petty things that in the grand scheme of things do not matter. People are self entitling themselves to everything. People demand more social programs, free health care, free education/lower tuition, higher public sector wages, and all with lower taxes. What do you think fund those programs? TAXES.

Our global modern society has not been at its prime since the Renaissance and it continues to deteriorate. And since a large portion of our community is made up of the types of people causing it to deteriorate, so too, will our community deteriorate. The average modern person is incapable of thinking for themselves in a capacity of what is best for them.

Getting SRL members back to its prime would involve demembering a LARGE majority of the member group, reducing it to roughly the size of active SSRL members.

Democracy no longer works in our world. Just as communism only works in an ideal world (without humans), democracy too no longer works in the modern world. People have become to accustom to making decisions based on feelings instead of knowledge, and not the good kind of feelings. They vote for political leaders like they buy merchandise. "Ohhh this ad tells me I will look like I am 30lbs lighter if I buy these pants" or "Everyone else has these Nike shoes, I need them". Cultural hegemony has taken over our world and caused us to want and need things that we do not need. We are greedy.

The only way to fix this is to have a modern Renaissance. But that is a whole another rank

tl;dr: The world is getting dumber by the day and there is nothing we can do about it. So deal with it.

I think you hit the nail right on the head. I've seen this too. Many people want so much for nothing. The people I'm in classes with, and the people I work with. It sickens me to hear them complain about how they have to do work to get paid for doing 'work'.

Edit: And, I am against a mindless automatic cleanse. I don't think it's a solution for anything.

Compromise sounds good.

Plus I think a cleanse would disillusion a lot of up and coming scripters (who would be ex members).
