Hello there everyone I am a level 64 for smithing and would like to start doing more then just smelting bars and selling them. I would like to be able to make something then turn around and sell that for the same as or a little above the grand exchange price for the bar. Is there anything you can smith without a loss of profit at this level and if not what are my best options and will I ever make any money making armor and weapons?

Its not hard to do the math and work out which bars are profitable and which are'nt.

that is not what i meant at all…. I already know that steel is profitable I am asking what I can then go and make into Armour at an anvil and the profit still be the same as or close to what the steel bar is…

steel is huge loss
Thanks for showing me that it seems that I should just continue to make bars and forget about making the weapons. The only problem is in the end it is going to suck being 99 and not be able to make a single coin with it. At least the + side is the awesome skill cape

just do gold bars with goldsmith gauts, that was the way i got 99 smith and the loss is…bareable

Iron knives used to make profit, but I don't think they do anymore. Still might be worth looking into.

My main has 97 smithing f2p and no armour or weapon smithing makes a profit (I have looked into it) Bars are the way to go. Its disappointing but w.e what can you do

Umm currently
- bronze knives and claws
Try mixing it up, I think superheating is good, quicker and you get a stack of mage exp too. Goodluck with 99 smithing :D

Truthfully, the only true profit, are from bronze Items, and cannon balls.
Goodluck!
ps: BTW, just stick with bars for now.

Advice, would be to be for every 1k bars you have, smelt 750 into cannon balls, than smith the other 250 into 50 plates, than do the same over and over again. Yes, you will pretty much break even if not profit :)
Nothing.
You're best bet if you want major profits is Cannoballs.
Like everyone else has said smithing anything will lose you money. Personally I'd make cannonballs, at least that way you make some profit :)
