I guess maybe some people on this site have a stash of 100+ passwords or something but I'm running out of passwords having to change it every 30 days, anyway you could ease up on it?

It doesn't have to be different EVERY time I don't think. Just can't be what it was the last time.

Maybe its just targeted at SRL Junior Members.
But yea I get a random notification when I come to villavu. And it tells me I have to change my password and I can't browse the forums until i do.
It says, " Your password is 30 days old. Please change it."
I /sigh everytime.

School computers, phone, laptop, desktop, tablet, other people's computers.
If that's the reason then that blows :|

I just claim I forgot my password, copy the thing from email, paste it here, 'remember me', good to go for 30 days. :p
But for some reason, Junior Members still have to change their password…

I've never had to change my password, except when I came back from the 2 year break.

i have to change mine every 30 days. just had to do it again a few days back. and let me tell u, it was a hassle because i forgot the older password. also, you cant just memorize a few of them, because it says you have used the password before (and wont let u use it). i just increment a number at the end of my pass each time i have to change. but never the less, its annoying.

I think you only need to change the password if you have been innactive for a while ~

Ive yet to ever have to change my password. I am always logged in :) so I figure that may have something to do with it.

It seems that only junior members have to change their password every 30 days.
Evidence = this thread. Probably just a vb setting that got overlooked.

Would like an admin to look into this as this is just annoying.

I've been hit with it at least three times since my duration here at SRL. It was originally implemented IIRC because people's accounts kept getting stolen because they used shared passwords, etc.

In all honesty most people who's accounts get hacked, deserved to get hacked.
I'm not saying its impossible for someone to come and create a bot/program to randomly guess a person's password but there are very few of those type of people.
I mean SERIOUSLY, wtf is someone going to do with my Junior Account?
If I want to hack someone its going to be a Dev, SSRL, or Admin.
Nuff said.

For all the logically challenged:
30 days per password and 365.25 days per year means you need 13 passwords per year.
There are 12 months per year.
These numbers are pretty similar.
You can append a number to the end of your password to "change" it.
If you haven't got the idea now, you don't deserve to have your life simplified.
For bonus points, choose an arbitrary starting value and add/subtract from it. For uber bonus points, produce a (simple) formula to get your number. For a disappointed shake of the head, complain about having to come up with one original password.

Nice in theory mixster. But when you are doing that for several sites and they get out of sync (as they always seem to do despite your best efforts) it's still just a pain in the ass.
And how secure is the same password used over and over with a different number tacked on? It's a false sense of security, defeating the intentions of the password change.

Or just use KeePass? It can generate passwords and auto input them for you =)
Who likes my 30 character password?
