~Methrend's Sudoku Solver (LITE)~

What is it?

Just a simple script to solve the Sudoku puzzles at rogue trader.
This script ONLY SOLVES SMALL CASKETS

Requirements to use:
Quests "Rune Mysteries" and "The Feud" completed.

More info at this link:
http://runescape.wikia.com/wiki/Rogue_Trader#RuneSudoku

How to use
  • Fill in player details
  • Stand in front of Ali before starting
  • Enjoy your runes

Current Features

  • Accounts for lag by using many checks - should work at the maximum speed your lag will allow
  • Only has ONE arbitrary wait time, which can be changed if you need
  • Solves only SMALL caskets (can still get a nice profit)

DISCLAIMER

I hold no liability for any bans/rollbacks when having used this script. Sudoku solving had a high ban rate in the past and this won't have changed. Use at your own discretion.
There is NO Antibans
There is NO human-like wait times. It will run as fast as your client allows.

I won't be adding the above, feel free to do so yourself.
I'm also not providing support, if you're able to read this, I'm assuming you're also able to fix things yourself. (I will answer some questions though)

Do they still give bans these days after the nuke?

I liked the part "if you're able to read this, I'm assuming you're also able to fix things yourself." :)

I actually have no idea tbh, but better to be safe?
I was running this a LOT when testing….

It's fairly easy to find an empty world to run it on though.

It sure does. Unfortunately at the slow rate of approx 1/minute, but it's pretty decent.

dammit, again?

That's as easy as changing the colour used, line 174 is the Air runes. I used 50 tolerance, it should be getting it >_> (Pick the white colour)

jakeyboy29

2012-02-04 07:06:02

It's weird. It clicks the air rune, but switches to the fire rune straight away. I changed the Tol to 70 and it just misses out the fire runes!

Yeah if it's clicking the one to place, but not placing any, then it's not picking them up. Try messing with the colours themselves to get it working. Blue/Brown/White/Red. Least it's simple for small. The 9 runes on large was a pain >_>

The final placement is always the same layout, but which rune is where can change. I need to be able to grab what's where in order to know what to put where. :P

Edit: it already grabs each box one at a time, but it has to know which runes are already placed to find out where to place the empties.

Find it weird it's not picking up though. I had to play with and refine those colours and tolerances a fair bit at first when testing and then had it running fine for AGES without modifying any more. Must've missed a few instances.

Just did a 30 minute run. Was lagging a fair bit (due to downloads and such), but still managed to make 600k profit - so 1.2mil/hour?

Normally I keep the natures for alching/superheating :)

Edit: Small caskets can still turn over a nice amount (due to the low cost of buying the runes afterwards)

jakeyboy29

2012-02-04 10:16:21

silly amounts of money.

What method do you use for solving the big ones?
I take it there isnt the same set algorithm as the small ones?

I was pulling around 300k per hour with the small caskets.

Definitely a different method. I use an actual logic-based sovler. Solves it exactly the same way you would solve it normally using your brain, except a hell of a lot faster (averages 0.4-1.2 seconds for a solve).
It just takes longer to place all the runes…I can't figure out how to make the Mouse function go faster >_>

Er1k

2012-02-04 10:47:51

Basically Meth used a list of logic rules to solve it. These techniques are categorized and may appear like these http://www.sudokuoftheday.com/pages/techniques-overview.php
Implementation up to naked/hidden pair/triples can already solve a decent amount of sudoku puzzles that are not particularly difficult.

Hmmm… going to give this a run on a dummie account just to see how it runs. Sudoku sketches me with respect to bans and such, very very bannable apparently. We'll see/will edit later with a proggy hopefully.

Now that I am unlocked I am going to test this. Thanks. I will let you know how 13m flips.

Edit:

I have completed The Temple of Senstilen(can't be bothered to get the spelling) and it have a spare chat interface. Just a fyi.
(First dialogue after clicking him)

Result:

Then Ali says still selling and it continues from there fine(added my own quick fix).

So, as a quick update, I've been running this (well, my large casket one) almost 24/7 for the past 2-3 days, only breaking when I run out of coins to go and sell the runes, then restarting simba and running again.

From what I've got watching it (it's on my laptop, next to me at all time sin my room, so I've been watching it most of the time) I've had nearly no one go past, and zero people stop for any length of time to be reporting me or whatnot.

Seems like it might be a lot safer now, post bot-nuke.

I just added right before those findcolortolerance's, variables with getcolor in the coordinates for the runes, so it always looks for the current color and kept a 20 tolerance on them for good measure.

Also added a CloseWindow in the beginning of TalkToAli and time timeouts in those infinite chat loops in case we get timed out to the lobby/login screen when in the chat.

Edit: CloseWindow doesn't work because it doesn't have any uptext for the 'X' to close the sudoku puzzle, so I'll make my own.

Haven't had a problem yet in the short testing I've done.

I would propose if you were to release the large version in any fashion, it would be to trusted and non-recent members only (or just more active in the community; would reduce leakage and abuse).

Awesome man :)
I pretty much just released this "as-is" and probably won't be updating it much. I've already improved my own version a little bit. Never thought to grab the colour from the static runes o.o

Closing the window is easy - I've already got a check in the main loop so that it waits until the window is open, all that does is wait until it sees the close window X, so the colour and x/y positions are in that if statement for you.

I'll probably be keeping the large one private for now, who knows what the future holds though?

For the large version?
I don't have exact numbers (cbf coding in checks for rune prices and amount gained vs spent to open, etc), but I seem to be averaging around 1.2mil/hour :D

According to jakeyboy, the small caskets will net you approx 300k/hour, which isn't too bad.

Did you add 'Profit Made' to it at all?

If so, might want to take it out. I tried to with my chin hunting script and the variable is glitched in some way, the report will be rejected when you try to submit it.

No idea why.

Nah, no profit made stat. Too complicated to bother calculating.

Only have the two stats I asked for, of which one is in this version
("Small Caskets (Opened)", other is for my private - "Large Caskets (Opened)". Thought it'd be interesting to see.)

Just stayed up all night and wrote my own large casket solver (~10-12 hours).

I was almost content to run the small one provided on account for a while and see how it did. Yet, it seemed like a cool challenge to try to script the large one on my own. Makes you want to pull your hair out after a while, but feels good to finish it in the end.

Sometimes its better when they don't release the best versions :)

I think depending on quest completion, different people might get different dialogue flow. I kind of head straight into the runes and stuff, but after I completed the blackjacks thing, the dialogue items are again different.

It's kind of annoying, but good thing is it can be easily fixed

Just as a slight preview, I've been refining the hell out of this as I make changes to my full solver, as I'm disliking the unstable prices from the large solver atm.

This image is from a slower computer, so it's not running anywhere near as fast as it could be:

It's now chock-a-block full of failsafes and custom options. Might update this release eventually, once I've length tested it.

at the moment, it's static positioning. I was using DTMs but couldn't get them accurate enough.

Luckily, with an empty inventory, the first casket puts them in the same order every time.

I'm looking into a proper solution atm…

The large caskets are fluctuating / dropping so much that it's sitting at around 300-500k/hr, but the prices are changing so rapidly that selling them off is really annoying and my calculations aren't exactly correct.

Smalls are as in the image above mostly, ranging anywhere from 130-250k/hr depending on speed and luck. (My current run is above-average and sitting at 280k/hr right now)
The good thing about small caskets is that they cost very little to open, so you can get bulk amounts of runes with a good base starting GP amount, meaning it's easier to sell them in bulk on the forums for above market price.
