What do you guy thik of this:

Downloading Games from p2p is perfectly all right if you have ownership right to that file. *etc purchasing a video game and downloading it from a p2p address.*

well what if lets say its a cross platform Title lets say Megaman for sega saturn and megaman for windows/dos.

Is it the same Title consitterably? How is ones rights protected fro this sort of situation. Both files are equaly the same yet there are certain fussications unallowing this.

It is not the same item, so it is fair. :) Even though it is the same title, the fact that it is for different things makes it completely fair.

By fair I mean that you'll go to jail if you are caught pirating the questionable item.

Most likely the code per platform is different.. so if you bought a game for Xbox and you download it for PS3, I assume it would be illegal since the files aren't technically the same.. and to touch on your first statement, correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think its legal to download a game even if you already bought it - you could easily download a game you already have and make multiple copies of it for your friends without anyone knowing at all.

it is legal to grab a game you own because you have the licence to obtain the copy…

but yes this is what i am saying @RISK , it should be fair to have exceptions in an instance like this on fair grounds.

Lol I'm sure the FBI would waste their time kicking down your front door just to find out you bought the game and all is okay.

Here's a quote from the Nintendo website saying it's illegal to download Nintendo ROMs even if you own a copy, I'm assuming if its illegal for Nintendo games its also illegal for just about every other platform.

Can I Download a Nintendo ROM from the Internet if I Already Own the Authentic Game?

There is a good deal of misinformation on the Internet regarding the backup/archival copy exception. It is not a "second copy" rule and is often mistakenly cited for the proposition that if you have one lawful copy of a copyrighted work, you are entitled to have a second copy of the copyrighted work even if that second copy is an infringing copy. The backup/archival copy exception is a very narrow limitation relating to a copy being made by the rightful owner of an authentic game to ensure he or she has one in the event of damage or destruction of the authentic. Therefore, whether you have an authentic game or not, or whether you have possession of a Nintendo ROM for a limited amount of time, i.e. 24 hours, it is illegal to download and play a Nintendo ROM from the Internet.

From what I've read, what IS legal is making one backup copy of a game as long as: you own it, you don't break copyright protection and you don't sell it/give away to a friend.
