So RiD – Interesting enough we have some issue that we need to talk about here. Sad part is that this conversation is going to be released to Mem+ yet it won't stay in Mem+.

I was talking to a Vet member of RiD. I do have some push and pull. So a friend of mine was telling me some pretty interesting stories, I can not say that I believe him or not but we do have some major Mem+ leakers. Apparently some of the Mem+ who are also veteran in RiD have been making private scripts for people that they sell so the members can use those to apply with. And apparently the chances are very high for us to allow them to be a Mem+..Conversation posted below

haha no its just that people assume that money can buy anything…yea but not respect…the time and effort i put in to getting in well took me a couple of weeks but i did it fairly faster than other people…thats the reason why…because i got in with something i had written all by myself..its pride…

haha….Good Luck…but like i said, you may eventually find someone who will put a dollar amount on the title but good luck trying to get it past SRL Members…not saying its not possible..but in my situation, i have been offered up to 150mill that i rejected…money isnt the issue ever…

Which is why I usually vote no if they haven't been here for over 2 months and have been regularly posting good stuff.

I've been voting "No" on almost all new applicants, since they are applying after being here only a month and have a low post count. I had a feeling this was going on, but I never had any proof.

I am still confused about people voting Yes on applications with no scripts.

Probably just messing around? Almost all no script apps don't get in.

Well some people claimed Mods and Leaders/Devs from other sites get auto-members. Yet that guy Owain Jones* is like Duckling or Banned still registered. He is a mod a RiD, some clarification into the matter wouldn't hurt.

He tried buying a membership applying script or something of the sort. In fact he has two accounts, aren't we limited to one account?

In very rare occasions yes, sometimes mod/leaders get SRL Members, but I can only recall less than a handful.

Owain should have only ONE account, and none is his accounts are even Member+ so no big deal there. Just let mods know when you see something like that and they will do something about it.

Also, maybe have a rule they must release a public script, and must shown that he has updated couple of time before they can apply :P

But I'd be down for the auto kick after x time if a srl member isn't well known and hasn't made alot of scripts. Obviously this doesn't include SSRL + and people like harry…etc

ok 3 things, for one Owain Jones isn't not a MOD on RiD. First, second of all I'm most likey gonna get banned for this from RiD, no problem at that. And third, I still go for the personal interview about the script itself….

Na Main, you participate and help around the community, look at your activity bar. I do however agree that there are people who get members and disappear, they probably go on to abuse member scripts or on to sell them for a price.

I agree about something needing to be done. I just don't think the admins will.

We should just start asking questions making the applicants explain their scripts code, especially the more advanced parts.

Hamham, we should work on that project and get it started, I can promise full-time dedication because school, Slayer and randoms but any progress is better than none =) Plus this old cat learned a few new tricks, so now we can get more done =)

Yeah we need new rules and regulations. We can't have users that have been here for only 1-2 months maybe even 3 get members. It's really fishy.

I agree with cleansing of Members, would help with this situation. If someone who hasn't been on in years DOES decide to come back, we can always add them back into Members.

It's funny, the only reason why people want Members is because they think we have the best of the best scripts in here. In reality, we don't. I've used maybe 2 scripts total from the Members scripts, and if I need a script I usually make it myself.

Members is about the respect of earning it, not for the scripts we have.

Lol Ggzz, you earned it, just like i have and other people. Its the title that i care about not the scripts…I haven't used any of the scripts except PC. The title means a lot to me as its like saying u know what ur doing. I dont care if someone gets a script from somewhere…it that they are using an SRL member, paying him to make them a script but in reality they are doing nothing but selling that title away.

Another thing I noticed. Most if not all members that apply that DO get in have talked to other members+ for advice/help.

I've considered asking for it, I'd do it if I could actually come up with a decent idea for a script, I've always wanted to re-apply :') I suppose a reset would give me some incentive though. Not that I have that much time >.<

Someguy applied and couldn't explain the functions in his script, inb4 everyone else that applies wrote a script but dont know how it works…

which is why iof they have less than 10 posts and no released scripts or they have a decent script but have posts requesting how to do this or that i vote no!

To be fair, I got members after around a month (just over, like 5-6 weeks if I remember rightly) although I was fairly active, not that I got to know anyone specifically :') So I don't think that a timescale like that is entirely out of the question, strange as it is.

May be the standards and rules should be changed for the post-nuke scripting scenery. The other ones are kind of old, I don't mean to have them completely changed but a update or two shouldn't hurt. New members looking to apply would have to like have public scripts released for some time period and show competence at solving bugs posted by their peers, ect. Be registered for at least 30 days but must have 75% + activity by the time of application, if most posts found to be spam, then the activity will be disregarded possibly hurting changes to get in, so people dont just spam for the sake of it, these are just some ideas.

If the scripter is legitly learning how to script and wanting to contribute and participate with the community, this shouldn't be an issue. He will have the time and the activity requirements.

Something that my warring clan Wicked Fury does for Full Membership is to have not only the minimum requirements like we do, but to get in you have to get known by people who will vouche you are Member worthy. Kind of say they known you for a while and approve of both character, skill, and more importantly that the intentions/motives for which applicant wants full membership are genuine and not just to get access to the Member Goodies.

- You will need 3 referrals from members, (1 Council+ and 2 Full Members)

In our case, it could be 3 referrals, 1 from ssrl+ and 2 from member+

The applicant would list them on the app and the referrals would confirm they think the person is member worthy and state so in order to avoid lies from the applicant. This will pretty much get rid of all leeches buying scripts to apply since they would have to know 3 people and those 3 people would more or less know about what type of script they are developing and how they are progressing through it. Don't think leeches will be able to buy off 2 member+ and a ssrl+ at the same time. Chances would be low.

It used to be really hard to get Members, through 06-07. I think we are in a different situation now, were we are the only legit working bot that does not need you to pay for. Back in 06-07 we had iBot to even things out, but now we are pretty much the only stable bot community. People may try to take advantage of our soft but warm policies that we have adjusted to for the past few years.

So I do agree we may need to adjust our rules.

I really think the Referral System would get things under control specially the off-site member app script selling part.

Please don't wipe all the SRL members. For the oldies… like me :)

When I eventually get to voting, I never vote based on the script/well scratch that I do but I vote 70% based on attitude and ME seeing THEM on the forums. I go through with a search on their name, viewing threads they have made/checking places they have posted. If I notice they don't post in the help section ever I tend not to vote for them*, I like people who help others or ask for help themselves.

*When ever I see the person has over 200 posts I check where the general population of their posting is/what it contains. If every post is "useless" but useful enough to stay on the forum, I don't count them as being helpfully active.

If they don't have over 200 posts and their join date is more than 3 months I am more inclined to saying no.

If they joined and posted an application in the same month I am also more inclined to say no, no matter how good the script is; especially when I read the other portions of their applications "herp, my name is bob I like sports and runescape" normally doesn't scream in sequence with their crazy good script.

I know I don't really follow protocol here, but I figure this is 1 vote that is based on something different. I have yet to vote on anyone that actually had a chance of getting in, so if you have something to tell me before I do start voting feel free to share :).

I think you have already proven yourself to be able to script ;) We don't want extra work reading applications.
