Hey!

So, I got an old PC from my father and want to start botting with it.
It's specs are the following:
1,5 gb ram.
2,8 ghz Celeron CPU
80 gb HD
128 mb Nvidia FX 5200 video.

As much as i've read it should run RS well, but as soon as I log in my CPU goes to 99% and it becomes impossible to play, any suggestions?

When you logged in and the cpu went to max, I'm thinking it might have something to do with the graphics settings.

I'm on safe mode with minimum settings, CPU usage Maximum, if lower than that it freezes like all the time.
E: CPU usage is like 10% when in log in screen, but when I'm already in lobby it goes to 100%.

Damn, that's crazy. Umm, if there aren't any important files on the computer I would suggest installing a new os like tinyxp.

The graphics card seems very outdated, but apart from that it looks like it should be able to run atleast 1 simba…

Since its an old pc, could it be that there's some crap programs running on there which you don't need anymore? If so, I'd suggest you to format your pc and reinstall your OS. In most cases this'll give you a significant speed boost!

I forgot to mention that I just reformated after getting it from my dad.
Everything else runs like charm…

I use a laptop from '05 with 1/3 of the specs of yours, and I can play RS fine? :S So something else must be up.

Maybe I don't have the latest drivers?
I have latest Internet and Video driver for sure…

Yeah, try re formatting - even though you just did it, something could be screwy. After that, get all the latest drivers. It should fix your issue. Part of your ram could also be dead/faulty. If you can, try to borrow a stick of the same ram and test it.

The ram should max out before the CPU on runescape. Also, try pulling the computer apart, clean it and put it back. Some of your hardware may not be sitting properly.

What operating system are you currently running on it?

RS does not run well at all on my HP Pavillion DV7 Labtop, either. I believe it to be a problem with RS demanding a large GFX processor due to sloppy programming from Jagex's side.

My stationary PC does not have a lot of problems running RS. Well, sometimes if running for a few days without a reboot, Java will begin to 'slow down' and RS becomes slightly more laggy. Nothing a reboot can't handle.
But RS on a labtop, thats a whole different story in my opinion - which is also why I think your GFX card must be the problem (Although you seem to be talking about a stationary pc, your GFX card seems quite weak).

It is a stationary PC and I'm running windows XP 32 bit. Thank you all so far for your fast replys.

Dude its a celeron, i have a celeron just like you, it never goes down from the 100%.

Pentium 3 > Celeron :p.

But i don't use it :p. I just wanted to say that you don't have to worry about that… its the cpu.

I shouldn't worry? I simply cannot run 1 simba client on it, so I'm worried, few years ago I ran 2 bots on it, maybe it has changed that much, though, any other suggestions? :)

Yeah i remember that too, but now i can't even use Smart anymore… it keeps lagging out too much, you have to set the bot on a Browser.

oh, sorry i always thought you're lagging, then… Try re-installing java… INSTALL 6.29.

Try Re-installing drivers or even re-format :).

But YOU SHOULD try Re-installing your java to 6.29!!!

Yes, I am lagging, by saying I cannot run it via browser means it lags even in my browser, I have java 6.29. :) Anyone know good software which helps me to search the drivers? :)

Game Booster searches for outdated drivers for you

same thing happens in simba+smart that happens in a browser for you, or is it different?

Gamebooster didn't find any outdated drivers. You think Linux is worth a shot? I'll think about it, thank you!

run a lite version of windows 7 it will install all the neccesery drivers for u u have the capabiltys to i have 1 gig ram my cpu is always at 80+% and can run 2 simbas and play rs and my specs are similar to yours well this is the computer i only use for botting etc etc

Okay, what I've tried so far:
1)Cleaned the PC inside.
2)2 formats(usual win XP 32-bit).
3)Updated all the drivers.
4)Doesn't matter wether I'm on browser or Smart, I still get like 1 FPS.

Now I'll go and see what results shall the Tiny OS's give.
