One year break from SRL...

I am very sad to announce that I will not be active for this whole year :( The reason is school. I live in Australia, NSW and I'm in my final year of highschool. For those who don't know (most), this year is very important and can be a factor determining which university and course I am able to undertake. Long story short - I won't have time for this wonderful community.

I do however, plan to come back when I am finished (November-ish?) and continue to contribute. I want to help SRL out as it has helped me learn so much. Not just programming related, but about becoming more mature. You can tell from my Profile Name "The Asian Dagger" is not very "nice sounding" :p

You can tell from my longevity and post count that I have not posted much in the time that I have been here. To tell the truth, I often took long breaks from the forums while going through my adolescence years because I changed my mind a lot. When I get interested in something, I rarely do anything else. I took up skating for three years during that time, I play the piano at the moment, I'm a DJ at the moment…

I only have a vague idea of what I want to do when I leave school and it basically consists of "Engineering". Don't bother asking what type :p I go back to school on Tuesday, so you can expect to see a little bit of me around until then.

I want to thank the SRL community for being there for me as friends. For being encouraging and supportive of me and each other. When I come back to this community I have a slight inclanation to apply to be a developer, so watch out ;) Although, I'll have to step up my game a bit :stirthepot:

Farewell for now, but not forever,

Good luck! :) I know how you feel about taking breaks like that, I am guilty of doing it myself.

So THAT'S what your name means…

Btw, pick mechatroncisQ!@@!# as canada and aussie is only of the only few countries that can develope UAV legally, you could make tons of money in the states if you got that stuff downnn.

All the best! Final year is pretty important but sometimes its nice to have other things to spend time on. Thankfully engineering doesn't require such a high ATAR compared to Law or Med. Having said that make sure you enjoy your last year of high school… university will be so different that you might even miss it. Good to see another Viet here, too bad I didn't get to speak to you much.

What subjects do you do..?

Oh, btw, Engineering Studies buddies? :D

Good luck in applying for engineering school. I'm in engineering myself right now and it's hard work. Keep at it man, decisions like these are done for good reasons. Your life will be a breeze once you're done university with an accredited engineering program.

It's funny how different my last year of high school was compared to yours. I seriously spent more time eating then I did on homework or studying. It was extremely relaxed. The last year is the same importance as the other three years at my old school. That being said, I was probably a little less prepared for these past few years of college, but it's ok. You're going to love engineering. What do you want to be your focus major?

This sounds interesting :) I might see what it's all about. It's good to have more than one option; I'll definitely look into this one!

Yeah, I'll be doing a lot of things this year besides school too, and I though SRL would be something I could come back to later anyway :) Wow! We've both been here at SRL for quite a long time and never knew you were Viet!? :p

Ahaha, I don't do engineering studies :( But, I do 4 Unit Maths, Physics, Chemistry, Software Design - typical asian subjects ;)

I don't mind if you start a new thread for the year that I'm gone (I'm locking my thread while I'm gone) :) That's really kind of you. Actually, I give anyone who is SRL Mems+ to do this if they want.

I never really did any work in school ;) but I really want to beat everyone at my school because I'm a competitive type :p Not sure what I really want to do ahah

Good luck mate, I just finished my VCE(HSC) this year and going to uni in a month :D.
If you ask me, treat this year the same as the rest of your schooling life(with a bit more focus on studies and don't get job). The exams aren't as hard they make it out to be(believe me, i got a pretty high score and didn't even touch a book)

Software Design isn't a "typical asian subject". The rest are though :p I do 2-Unit, Adv. English, Modern History, Engineering Studies, Physics and Software Design.

BTW, what's your topic for Physics? Quanta to quarks (ours is - borrring)? :p
