So, I wanted to upgrade my computer specs, so I can run more than one SMART client without lag.

Here are my computer specs:

How can I upgrade it, effieiently? I have arround $100, to spend but I'm willing to go $200 if it's good enough.

Thanks, preferably an Australian website,(free shipping) :).

Could you post your motherboard?

Do I have to take my computer apart to do that? Because if I do, I have no idea.

146MB, till full disk, so I guess I'm gonna be needing a new hard drive too.

Basically motherboard determines what parts you can install. I think you could get 2gb more RAM and delete lots of files or get a new hard drive :p

You'll have to when you add the components, so you might as well now. It'll allow you to see which slots you have free for memory, or a new GPU if it's integrated (I expect it is looking at those specs).

I'd recommend a new HDD if your current one is full and some more memory. Perhaps a new processor as Runescape safe mode uses hardware acceleration

You should already be able to run at least 4 SMARTs, try to clean some stuff up or reinstall Windows. Also drag the FPS bar a bit down ;)

i would say up the ram a bit, and look for another processor, although with a budget of $100 you wont get far in finding another processor

if you do get a new processor, either upgrade your mobo, or look for something like Q9650. its about the best processor your going to get for your socket

Wait, so when I drag it down I can run more, but won't that effect the exp rate?

Well it depends what you are doing… For example for woodcutting I guess the little extra lagg wont matter but if you need to be constantly clicking then it does.

I built my whole computer for about $350 and i can run aleast 4 smarts before i even see a slight sign of lag. You know what you even have a better processor then me. I've got a pentium D Dual core at 3.4ghz. But the difference iv got is 8 gb ram (2gb sticks x 4), 500 gb hd at 7500rpm, and 1 gb dedicated graphics (4gb shared) from an over clocked MSI n430gt. And its all small form factor case. Everything was from ebay aswell. Just make sure you know what you are buying before you actually go and spend money.

I actually get free computers from my dad's company so.. Hmm $350 I could rebuild one Sam as yours and run 4 smarts.

I'm power mining iron so I guess it matters!

I'd need to know a bit more about the specs (ie. the motherboard and possibly the power supply) to be able to tell you what you can upgrade.
Here are two sites that are quite decent here in Australia (I've used the first several times and my mate got a new computer off the seconds).

http://pccasegear.com/ - Decent prices on parts (for Australia), based near Melbourne

http://www.gr-tek.com.au/ - Builds custom computers, a bit more expensive than building your own (especially if you get a lot of custom parts) but they do a bang up job and have long warranty.

Good Luck ;)

Now way he can run 4 SMART with that CPU and that little RAM. I mean I could not run more than 5 SMART's with a 6 core cpu and 16gb ram LOL (tho the script i'm using is not really efficient).

Any idea what I can upgrade to?

Can't really upgrade your cpu with your current mobo. Hard to get a quad for socket 775 for a decent price.

But what about…
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813130634 - mobo
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103996 - cpu

and from there you can throw in more ram, gpu and better psu (if needed) when you get more money. Ram is pretty cheap nowadays.

Kinda hard to upgrade with that tight budget.

To be honest, really not worth upgrading. 32bit operating system supports max 4 gigs of ram which really wont help since your cpu is getting outdated kinda fast with all i5s and crap. Sorry
