guys read this this why bot never wil come back runescape posted this on forums
agex has recently in the United States won a lawsuit against a developer of bots. The Court has given equal points on all Jagex. It is prohibited the makers of the bots to play a game of Jagex, bots to use and develop, on the lawsuit to talk, by means of reverse engineering the operation of a game of trying to find out if someone at these affairs Jagex to help. This ruling is a wonderful victory for Jagex, since they can have successful previously creators of bots only sue on infringement of the name RuneScape. The makers of the bots should not pay amount announced that Jagex a reportedly six figures. If the persons entering the error again, they must in addition to a penalty of $ 1 million to pay the fine.
The makers is required all domain names, documents, data about their customers and source code of their bots to Jagex. They must also publicly offer their apologies, what happened now. Tell them now that they understand the damage they inflict the game. Luna gang can only confirm: almost anyone can do the large amount of bots of for Bot Nuking Day recall, making RuneScape was practically unplayable. We hope this situation never will return and recommend everyone therefore strongly far to stay away from bots. Bots messing up the game for everyone, are often full of viruses and can lead to your account on RuneScape is banned. Now all data of the customers of the Jagex company gets in hands, shows this lawsuit that anyone who concerns themselves with bots can be tackled. Let this lawsuit so a warning for everyone! Jagex is not afraid to get their right.

This was the infamous Impsoft vs Jagex lawsuit. Jagex, ofcourse, won. In doing so, Impsoft will be required to pay hundreds of thousands of dollars, have all of their domains taken and given to Jagex, hand over all of the emails, purchases, scripts, etc. And if they try to make another bot, they'll be sued for 1M.
This wasn't addressed to all bot developers.
To read the MODERN ENGLISH version of this, just look on AutoFighter's website. It's on the homepage.

Impsoft was screwed because they modified code. Color does not touch the code of RS at all, just uses visual aids…ergo we are fine.

I never stated that the situation for Impsoft and SRL were the same. The point I was making was that reflection does not modify code.

They stole the raw java code to make a reflection bot, this is illegal. simba is still legal.

It is an undisclosed 6 figure number according to what I have read. Either way, it still sucks to be them.
What exactly did they do that was illegal?

Actually I believe it was the means of obtaining the 'hooks' which is what made past reflection bots illegal. Like Pyro said, reflection doesn't alter or modify anything…

We're stealing no more than what your eye is gathering while you read my post. In a sense, Simba is a lot like reflection in means of gathering information. Would Jagex know that we're searching our own computer screen for a certain color in a certain area?

if the paid fee was that big fagex would slap the number all over everyones face, so it was probably a miserable fee they received although they got all the info on purchased scripts and their buyers but of course jagex will send some scary email cause they cant afford ban much more membs :)

welcome to the twenty first century where everybody settles crap with suing one another…. that's all this is about the internet don't belong to anyone as the world helped build it i don't see how what they did was illegal but then again i don't see how Fagex can put a copyright on something that's so simple as java coding i mean what about private servers they do STEAL the coding and DO modify it for their own pleasure and they make profit from it reflection never modified nothing but i guess it did ruin the game economy

Their '6 figure sum' was probably including cent and was 1,000.00 USD ;o
Most likely it's just to scare us, even if the six figures is true it would probably be something close to 100,000 USD :p

ok i read the first post on this when you join a botting site you have a privacy right and in your right no 3rd parties are aloud to obtain any information on anybody regardless on the situation just remember that ok that goes for everyone and even if they do jagex get any information on anyone from a botting site i would put up the cash to sue jagex cause its against the law to look at records from someone with out their permission have fun all

JaGeX, come@mebro. I've got cookies and crumpets. Honestly, they only wanted to get rid of ImpSoft because ImpSoft was earning more annually than they were, lmao.

Knowing a tiny bit about law, If Jagex chooses they can sue this website/simba for a number of reasons.
For causing "property damage" on Jagex Ltd. := Ruining the experience of players that are playing runescape.
For causing a loss in profits to Jagex Ltd.
For generating profit directly/indirectly from a copyrighted product of Jagex Ltd.
There are a few things they can use from DCMA, but unlike impsoft, Devolpers here share aren't making huge profits by selling bots, Also evidentially this is a source of education. I doubt Jagex's lawyer will even try to sue this website but that doesn't mean that can't. They will just never have a chance to win in court. Like a wiseman a few posts above me said.
Come at me bro.
Standing beside simba and these amazing devolpers till i go blue.

I think reading packets and altering their code only to be sent back to teir server is what they have a problem with… if you accept their licence agreement that is…
ive havet ever read or seen you have to accept our licence agreement to play our game… EVER…
Its only do you accept these terms… NOW somehow if you can bypass without accepting terms well its like there no offsides get it?

Don't rly know how jagex won, drag a case in court for long enough and you win it seems.
Ironic part is they probably used the money they got from botters subscriptions to pay for lawyers and stuff lol
