People who torrent Anti-virus

I was at a friends house today, (Not a pro-technology person, but still knows their way around a computer)

Today their anti-virus (Norton security, it costs $35 a year) ran out. He decides to torrent NEW fully paid anti-virus.

If there is ONE thing you should not torrent, it is ANTIVIRUS. Holy crap, if there is one thing someone could put a virus in anti-virus is that thing. 99% of the people who download the torrent don't have the anti-virus to tell them they are downloading a virus!

I just thought his reasoning "It even has an extended expiration date (the date was 2018)" You can't even buy anti-virus that protects till 2018; but his torrented version can do it -.-.

It was just a fyl moment when he told me he knows what he is doing.

Just my rant :P
I understand a lot of you prob have done this and succeeded without a virus, but really.. The logic here is lacking.

Yeah, as you said, many of us have done it including me, I'm still clean. :)
Nevertheless, you really should be careful d/l-ing AV stuff from torrent. Can be really harmful.

Uhh my anti-virus expires in 2050.. -___- Avast Antivirus Pro-Internet Security.. No virus.. Logic flawed where? He should download a trial like I did and then crack it or get a crack for his av.. His loss?

You can buy anti-virus that lasts many years, it's what's known as purchasing a license. And you can also crack a program to last forever, without the need of a serial. You should wise up slightly before calling out your friend.

Was it Avast?

Anyway, torrenting AV programs is pointless when there are countless free alternatives out there. Examples: MSE, MalwareBytes, SpyBot, etc.

the best antiviruses are free, all of the worst ones cost money.. the only exception is nod32

idk why you even need to steal?

Either shellout for nod32 or just use avast free is my advice.

Norton doesn't provide a license for 2018, I know what a license is -.-.
Cracking anti-virus to last forever; either you are talking about the clock hack (Which doesn't work anymore) Or the hack where you edit the actual norton to sync with a website clock you created (Doesn't work when norton updates)

He will only use norton, lol I don't know why…

Honestly anti-virus companies don't make a lot of money, compared to everyone else. I would just buy it.

For official stuff like computer security and such, I like to do things properly so it's secure because sometimes my dad uses my computer to work from home and so if a virus got on it could steal millions of dollars. :/

I have done this before and the result was incredible. I got avast and since then, I have never had a cleaner computer. IMHO avast is the best av.

Yes, it is. I've been using it and it's easier to use than other anti-virus, to me.

tl;dr Avast pwns all.

E: why does someone hate me? -_-
