Can close, the user who I originally gave the account to wants to play still.

Does anybody duel arena stake?

I have an account, the guy who originally I gave it to (on SRL) doesn't play it at all so I thought id give it up to who ever wanted it on the community.

Please do NOT take the account if you do not like combat, staking or even f2p pking.

The stats are
91 Attack
91 Strength
91 Defence
91 HP

The name is pretty lame; used for tricking people into thinking I am a noob.

An SRL staking account. :p I'm not gonna lay a finger on it because I'm absolutely cursed when it comes to maxed box staking. I'm probably the poorest person on SRL because of this.

I'm a maxed account and I have only 1.5m and it gets lower and lower every day, Flight. I think I take that grand title. :p

May not be hard, but it's really like playing the lottery in my eyes, there's really no skill to it, especially if you're boxing. R4and0m, may I ask what your earnings are roughly from the duel arena?

Well there is certain things you can do to improve your winning changes. Lets say you got 53% winning change every time and you stake 5%(The lower the better but time is also money) of your bank every time. After 20 stakes you should have made approximately 1.03^20 = 1.806 X your starting bet. So if you were doing 10m stakes you should have made about 8m.
It basically just requires patience and good nerves so you don't put all in when you have lost 5+ times in a row.

I have made roughly 500m, of course I have spent a lot of that on skills (330m for 99 prayer), rest on herblore.

I have also made near 600m from merching/flipping.

I don't stake a lot, and I merch for 15 minutes a day. (I never stake for more than a hour)

Sorry for the slight grave dig, but wow! I've always wanted to box, but never knew the techniques. Would be great to learn from someone who already knows what they're doing. Any general tips R4nd0m?

Well I will give you my short speel :)'

3 types of accounts:
A) Maxed Main
B) Defensive Account
C) Averaged Account
I am used to using a maxed main and an averaged account to Box. I will explain all three though.

A) Maxed Main: Probably the account with the most competitors and generally the fastest way to make or break your bank.
B) Defensive Account: 99 defence, 99 HP, 1 prayer, you level your attack OVER strength to the level you want so you can compete with the levels you want. Example: If I max out at like 65 combat, but I want to fight level 90's I would train my attack till I am level 90.
C: Averaged Account: This was the account I was giving away, very powerful account…Provided someone doesn't look you up. There is a 90% chance you will kill the person provided they are not a defensive account or abnormally lucky.

Fighting Styles:
Maxed Main & Averaged Account:
Start with "Punch (Attack)" till you lower their HP to 0
or
If you happen to be losing switch to "defence (Punch)"
or
If you are losing bad try strength and hope for the best/winning by a lot.

Advanced style: You alternate between defensive to accurate or Strength. So when you see your character throw a punch throwing a punch towards them turn on defensive, then when you see them throw the punch towards you turn on accurate.

Use advanced style for Defensive account as well.
—

Make 100m before you start.
Then follow the logic of doubling your bet each time you lose, put in error of luck of 8 fights. Provided you lose all 8, that's really bad luck and you just used the remainder of your money. (Happened to me once with 600m, but every time after that always profited).

I once thought Defencive account would be good but apparently I was wrong. I had 99 def, 70+attack and 50 strength and it totally sucked. If I now were to make a boxer account (not maxed) I would probably try 99 attack, 90 strength and 40 def. The average type of account you were talking about might actually be the best.

Agh I'm broke again… it took me a month to get enough cash to stake again, I even sold my reserves of raw materials to pay for just the one stake and I lost big time… I've not won a fight since sometime around the bot nuke. Is there something I'm missing here? Some new tactic that everybody and their brother uses?

I don't know what else to do now. I have a grand total of 4,800,000 coins in my bank, around 30k pure essence, and untradable items. This is really disheartening… :(

That's really awesome of you to offer but I'm just not keen to taking handouts, ya know. I'd rather have earned my gold. Thanks anyways, my friend. :)

Flight the point is to have slightly better changes than your opponent does and then stake A LOT of times. Slightly better changes stack up in the long run. For example if you stake 5m each time and you have 5% better changes it would take approximately 15 stakes to earn 5m because 1.05^15 ~ 2. The standard derivation is still huge though. You need to stake hundreds of stakes to make somewhat stable profit. 1.05^30 is already 4.3 -> (4.3-1)*5M profit

I would not recommend staking more than 5% of your bank at a time but of course it's a bit waste of time time to do too small stakes when you ain't got much. The most common way to get cleaned is staking higher every time you lose I would say (When you rage up).

Flight do you know how to see who has first hit before entering the stake?

No idea. As far as I'm aware it should be an even match, both players are maxed in stats, neither are using armor, and familiars are disabled. That's why I've asked if there's some strategy that people have used the past few months to give them an advantage, because I'm really drawing the shorter straw here.

You should be able to switch fighting modes like this guy does http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vXAbBbQhyZU

Secondly you should only stake when you got first hit. You can see it in 2 ways (before entering the stake)
 1. Following. If you follow someone with a delay then he/she has better player id = he/she has first hit.
 2. Pressing accept first in the first duel screen. If the second duel screen pops up with a delay then you should decline. If it pops up instantly then you are good to go. (Just spam click attack at the beginning of the duel)
You can get random player id by relogging. (Just go lobby and back).

So Antti, do you think staking 5% @ 100m may begin to bring in stable profit?

Theoretically if you always stake 5% and you always have higher change of winning you would always end up making profit in the long run. This means that you would actually lower your bets every time you lose which I know many people couldn't do. Remember that it's not impossible at all to lose/win 10+ times in a row.

Edit: Of course there is the 1gp minimum stake limit which could theoretically make it possible to get cleaned even always staking 5%.

since this thread is about staking I might as well post this here.

I have never staked before. I have a starting cash pile of about 30m. would this account be ok to stake on? or Should I max the combat first.
Oh and when boxing is it normal to have prayer on or off?

Not unless you want to stake summoning on.
