megaupload and the mandate

What is the point is SOPA and the opposition if the US government feel they have the mandate to eradicate sites such as these without due course and attention, or the correct legislation.
Why wouldn't the F.B.I just take down all 'pirate sites' with the same force they did this site, without the legislation and accountability they did with said site?

Please discuss what is different with SOPA to the actions taken with megsupload and wether the US government has the mandate to withdraw this site. (Please can we keep this educated with sources, wikipedia doesn't count)

Taking down any website currently requires a lot of legal paperwork and mostly months of preparation, etc.

SOPA allows all this to be bypassed and sites can be taken down with nothing more than a court order (which are relatively easy to obtain - even with little to no evidence).

It's less about fighting piracy, since the government already can - it's more about bypassing most of the legal requirements to act quicker and without notice.

For a website to be taken down it has to go through court. If SOPA passes, this will not need to happen anymore.

the government already has the power to shut down whatever they want whenever they want, this just gives them a better excuse to do it :)

well ive heard the rumors that goverments monitre the internet (im not a guy of conspirations) but i think is possible so what privacy we have?

well i can give you the point of view frome me as a mexican citizen:

you can do the fair thing and prevent the stealing of content, but here we have some things called "fayucas" were poeple sell the pirate dvds and content, this profit goes to narcotraffic and organized chrime.
now imagine all the people that dont buy in this places and download from internet, they will no have other chosies from stop using this content, or buy them at this "fayucas". and how the situation goes many people that are misinformated will buy from the Fayucas incrementing the organized crime.

the income from this places is really big

or you can still steal form riches that wont get poorer.

either way or the other i think this piracy places need to stop, government should close them and do a mayor good for comunity but they should not close internet downloads as they dont do big harm they only steal a bit from people that dont need the money and help many people without the condition to buy original products. but remember that downloading author content is still stealling.
what do you thing?
