Too bad you can't "steal" bytes. Stealing is when the original author loses their goods. Data piracy is where the goods are just copied and sent elsewhere. No one loses any money other than theoretical loss of sales.

major corporations are behind these movements, why? well here's the biggest examples:
Nike, inc and adidas
they're major supporters of SOPA and PIPA
how could these clothing places benefit, you ask?
well they benefit from being able to get everything on the internet about them taken off, this means they're able to have their child labor faggotry without americans bitching about it publically…

So if I take my car to a mechanic and tell him to fix something, like my tire alignment, it's okay for me to not pay him? Not like he actually replaced anything on my car, it's the same as it was before…

That is completely different. He invested time and labour into your vehicle. An artist records the CD and does not put any extra time into it after that except for concerts and related things. When you copy a CD, you're just copying. You aren't stealing their time nor any money.

Record companies spend time and labour putting the effort into creating albums and what not as well. Not like owning a studio is free, or paying for maintenance, or paying for utilities, paying off loans, debts, taxes, blank CD's, hosting fees, etc… Running a business is not easy or simple or cheap, but for them, business is good.
Using your logic, why aren't we allowed to take other people's scripts and say they're ours? I didn't actually take it off of their computer, hell, I didn't even change anything in the script, I didn't even take the creator's name out of it, and I'm not even selling the script. I'm just reposting it saying it's mine.
I think what you mean to say is, it's OK to steal from them because they're RICH.

Stupid stupid stupid argument. How does plagiarism relate to piracy at all? Plagiarism is bad because that DOES take away fame from the original authors. Pirates don't take away any fame from the original authors; in fact they give it MORE fame and free advertising. Pirates also buy more than the average user who claims to not pirate.

This.
Go to shows and buy merch if you wanna support your favorite band/artist.
EDIT: I also understand what josh is saying and I agree with him. Does this stop me from downloading music for free? No. Do I feel guilty about it? Sometimes. Labels are somewhat of a necessary evil. I don't like how some control the artists creativity and jip them on record sales. Then again it's virtually impossible to get anywhere if you aren't signed. The times I feel guilty is when I download music by an artist on a label I know is legit. Tbh CD's are terrible quality and very unreliable compared to the quality I can get on the internet that won't get physically damaged or scratched.

Record companies don't do anything. You make it sound like these record companies are a group of low-middle class men working their asses off. It's the artist that does all the work. The artist has to put all the time and effort to create that music. The artist is subject to slander and criticism from these record companies. [Conspiracy]Record companies put so much stress on these artists that many of them try or do commit suicide[/Conspiracy]. Record companies are part of that 1% group. All they do is move their money around to make even more money. These record companies are making so much money that it's a challenge to even count. So I don't give two squares' a piss if I get my music and movies illegally. No one is getting hurt if we do so, and no company is "losing money". When they say "oh were losing 500million dollars!@@!!@" they're just counting the number of goods being pirated and converting that number into a theoretical number of possible profit. But no. If they remove pirated goods, I can assure you that those record companies won't make 500million dollars more in profit. It's all-bull-shit-and-greedy-ass-mother-fuckers.
But… If Eminem or any other of my favorite artists went out and said "hey guys please stop", I would consider it.

interference with copyright does not easily equate with theft, conversion, or fraud. The Copyright Act even employs a separate term of art to define one who misappropriates a copyright… 'an infringer of the copyright.

when you replace the script writer's name with yours, how are you gving the script writer any fame? And stealing a loaf of break means somebody lost that loaf of bread, but stealing a music track/a game only results in a loss of theoretical profit.

I'm not even going to bother to argue with you, you obviously are unable to understand definitions of words in the English language. "steal: to take the property of another wrongfully and especially as a habitual or regular practice". Nothing is lost with piracy, so it's not stealing.
As per Dowling v. United States (SCOTUS case):
Piracy is just copyright infringement, not theft.

Think of it this way:
Piracy: Illegal yes, but immoral? NO. Because the amount of profit they make is ridiculous. Not to mention, those huge record companies/movie makers/game makers also steal from the little guys, but they make sure no one knows about it(Ive seen this myself in the industry, incase you're wondering).
Stealing: Illegal yes, immoral? I'd say yes(but depending on the situation, eg: robinhood). When you steal something, that item has been lost and cannot be used by the owner, but when you pirate it, the owner can still use it as if nothing happened.

Oh no, nothing like that. The medium sized labels I'm talking about support lesser known musicians and don't take creative control. Of course they still have to make money and do so through CD sales. Someone makes a good business practice (based on the number of users they had, it was obviously pretty good business), why should it change my opinion about them? They gave away the largest portion of their bandwidth to people for free. There were no obscene wait limits.
The reason why some people don't like to support the recording labels is not because of their amount of money (though it does lower the amount of guilt one could feel), but simply because they don't respect the people who do the actual work - the artists. This is also the reason why many pirates prefer to go to concerts instead of just buying their CD, because it more directly and positively effects the actual artist.
If some record labels had better business practices, they'd make even more money overall, and be more respected by others. Piracy is a business/service problem, not simply a legal problem.
