Wow people are really lazy. Anyway, if a reputable scripter sold their account it would be obvious when the IP changes/they become a 100% leecher.
This isn't the first time those idiots over there have tried to weasel their way in here. Maybe Jbot will get them out of here.

…but I want a holy grail :(
Haha, personally I think its a double edged sword. You get people who want in so they actually do script try to get in, then you have scum who try to "buy" their way in.

Well nothing special yet,
untill the slayer & soulwars scripts are in members =P
We should make SRL members expires until they become SSRL or higher:P
Then they gotta buy either SSRL or SRL Dev or Mod accounts lol
Or how about we just remove SRL members and up all together and just have everyone be equal? Then have secret user groups to users that can prove they know what they're doing. So no one knows to buy anything.
Oh and yes. We are hiding the holy grail in there. There's a script that can make you coffee and massage your feet in a french maid outfit.
[XoL]
2012-01-17 00:34:02
Honestly the way it is now is fine, most of the leechers trying to buy accounts will be gone in a few weeks anyway.
Perhaps a requirement to stay SRL member, (30 posts/1 script every two months?) Something easy but would be too much effort for the regular leech.

I feel/hope there is a bunch of sarcasm going on around here.
SRL Member is crazy in terms of requirements. I mean it should be something like a multiple choice pascal exam that is randomly generated and you have 30 (or so) questions to answer. Your results are sent to the mods to analyze. You're accepted = you're in. Denied = no applications for you for a period of ~1-2 months.
Please someone, spread this idea to the mods :D
And also, it's sad how people are trying to get srl member for 100m. ITS FREE TO BRUTEFORCE VBULLETIN, HERP DERP.
VB 3.8.4 has been hacked multiple times. 4.0.2 is the most recent forum that I saw someone break into. Am I suggesting something… no. But SRL Members would be nice.

To be perfectly frank, we generally care more about the attitude of the person applying, and their presence in the community, than their script. The script is still important, but hanging around for a while and being a nice, helpful person is worth more.

I agree 100% with this. Just scripting is quite nice and means you participate, but attitude and contribution to help others is more important because it helps the community grow. A script could be done by a scripter, or someone else learning could write a script later with a little help. They learn and you can go write your script when your done helping. And who knows, they may end up getting so good that they help you one day. That is what makes the community flourish. :)

Some of us do not have time to start learning pascal. I am not a programmer and I do not take programming subjects in school or university. This community is very one sided, for programmers only.
Release the scripts to everyone. Some scripts which appears to be useful fail and does not run for a long time. At least the creators should make an effort to create something that is complete.
The pest control script. What would you lose if you release it to public? There is plenty of space in RS.

Um, no? The scripts in the Members section are for the people who have earned the right to use them. Not for some sore leechers. Also, if there's an issue with the script, post on the thread and explain what's going on and be helpful. I have no clue what you're talking about, scripters put a lot of effort into their scripts and release function scripts for free, sounds like someone is just a leech and doesn't want to be helpful. Everything here is free, and no one is forcing you to stay.

Erm, it was easy to tell who was a bot and who wasn't. That's the reason why it was moved to Members since it was being leeched like a mofo.

You can view your own reputation at the User control panel (http://villavu.com/forum/usercp.php). Note: it is completely anonymous to rep+ or rep- someone, but mods and admins can see who did it, though we barely look at it.

It doesn't matter who posted those reps, don't you get it… You're not liked, around here anyway lmao. It's not rocket science, nor should it take more than one second for that to become apparent to you. Bashing back and fourth with Members, Members+, Admins even for that matter is only going to set you more and more back than you already are.
You have -16 rep accumulated, the page that Markus showed you, was only a portion of your negative rep.

Easy, reputation power. Not every rep is equal. That of a newly registered user only counts for 1 point, but of someone with 6k posts, 600 rep himself and 4 years of registration time counts as 6+6+4+1 free point = 17. Note that this is halved for negative reputation.
You can view your rep at
http://villavu.com/forum/usercp.php together with the most recent comments and posts relating to them over there.
Reputation generally has no meaning at SRL, but you could see it as a 'hint'.

Dude, I had no experience in any programming language when I started learning the basics of Pascal/SRL. Despite that, it only took a day to learn the basics and even more. Its more about self-discipline than "learning skills".

It's not a one-sided community at all, they don't FORCE you to learn scripting, it's optional it's just that those who do take that initiative get a bit of a bonus… it's sort of like getting Extra Credit on an assignment. You have the people who do average and get an average grade, you have the people who go the extra mile for a great grade, and then you have the people who do nothing, and in return that's what they get: nothing.

easy language is easy
its one of the easiest languages to learn because it actually has words to read
it is not a one-sided community, you can get into srl-members if you help out enough, this doesnt happen much though, but if your extremely helpful, then you may get invited
most scripts work perfectly well, the ones that dont are usually peoples first attempts, which is expected because they are still learning
the pest control script is kept away from the public to stop everyone leeching the minigame and therefore lowering the ban rates, if hundreds of people use it, jagex will be able to see the pattern much easier than if was used by tens of people

Easy way to stop this gold farmer tactic. You sell them a fully functional account on every link you can find, collect the cash and delete their account as soon the payment went through. When you do this enough times they will stop.

Ahem, easy for you to say since you already know how to code.. I came here over two weeks ago knowing nothing, not a bit about color coding.. Ive read every tutorial you guys have put up, and like I told you before, ive got the basics down but after two weeks i still cant design a script that even functions half right.. Just last week I was up for 27 hours straight because I had finally got a script to click on a yew tree and then click on another tree after the previous one was cut, but I couldnt get it to do anything more than that because i started out knowing nothing…
there is stuff that you get into here that can take you months to learn - that are actually in a lot of the free scripts released here now..
So on the end of someone in my situation, someone who doesnt know how to script but tries to learn - but proves to be far to advanced, yet still denied access to SRL members, then yes these forums are very one sided. If you come here not knowing jack squat about coding, then 90% of the time, those users will never be given access to SRL Members or the scripts….. Unless you come here already knowing how to program these scripts, so how can you say the best part of these forums are not one sided towards programmers?
Furthermore, as if its not bad enough not being able to get access to SRL members because you cant write a script, you have to sit here and get called names for not knowing how (getting sick of being called a "leecher"). So its like.. "Well you dont know how to write a script huh? well your denied access to the best part of the site and by the way, deal with us calling you a leecher the whole time your here.. good day"
:)
You can also try reading existing scripts and trying understand whats going with each line.
Thats how I learnt:)

"Well you dont know how to write a script huh? well your denied access to the best part of the site and by the way, deal with us calling you a leecher the whole time your here.. good day"
:)
I joined this community with no prior knowledge to coding, it is here that my passion for coding began and hasn't stopped since. It takes practice, I've written many crappy scripts in the past just to learn how everything works. I'm always trying to push my technique to a new height.
You don't
have to be a great scripter to be a Member, but being a Member is more than just gaining access to scripts. It's more of a way to test your knowledge and utilization of the SRL Include, what your logic is, how it's structured, etc. It's not one sided towards programmers, it's sided towards
learning how to do something, that is the purpose of this community. Yes, we have scripts that are designed for Runescape, but that's just one part of it here.
People are give back to the community are not leechers, and as long as you try to be helpful and contribute, you're fine. It's the people who come here, use our scripts, and don't contribute in any way shape or form. Then, complain when something doesn't work 100% right. Those type of people are leechers.
Members isn't the best part of the site, I don't know why everyone thinks that.

I joined years ago, I was never active until midway through January.
Within a week of becoming active, I released my Yew script, within two I released a Mining Guild, and then I worked on a Soul Wars Script (which I stopped since I found a much better way to train) and as well as a private Druid Script. Why am I saying this? It's all about the effort you put in.
Perhaps this is harder for some then others, but if one puts effort into it they can get members.. If you don't know what you're doing, ask for help. It's what I did and I often got help whether in IRC or on the forum itself.
Leechers are one's who only take and give nothing in return. Is asking someone to learn basic coding to much to ask? I applied to members maybe 2-3 weeks after first learning anything about Pascal.. It isn't rocket science.

Keep it up crazy exiled guy. I hope someone helps you.
I'll be deleting those kind of threads from now on.
Obviously buying an SRL member account wouldn't be allowed on here, so we'll respect that by not allowing it on our forum either.

Awesome, thank you. :)
Most of people came here or to Kaitnieks with zero knowledge of programming (Me as example) This is my best tip for those who wan't SRL Membership:
When you find out that you don't need scripts but you make them for joy. Then you are ready. :)

I now have a grudge against you. you made my Pepsi shoot out of my nose. THAT STUFF HURTS.
