What AV are you using? I know that some of them say Simba is a virus when it detects the auto updater. If you downloaded it from http://wizzup.org/simba/ then you're safe and have nothing to worry about :)

Simba is open source, if you don't trust it, feel free to look through the code on GitHub.

You sure you got it from http://wizzup.org/simba/ ?

Because if you did, then it's not a virus.

Pretty sure this is discussed elsewhere. It's a false positive caused by Simba accessing web to check for updates/updating.

Nope, microsoft security essentials has no false positives for simba.. I have it on over 10 virtual machines.

OP has a virus from somewhere else.

Think logically, simba's one of the only working program if not it is the only program that auto's effectively after the update, it's quite popular…which community did you come from?

It's a false positive for sure scar has been arous since 2004 and Simba since early 2011 I
Believe? Both are/were used be 100s of people daily for many years never has and never will it contain a virus. On top of thr Simba is 100% open source read the code yourself to check. Its a false positive no worries.

you realize those bots have had many security risks, accounts stolen, viruses added, all sorts of stuff and we've never had it.. in the past 5 years?

you're judging us based on your old experiences from other bots, forget what you know and have learned, this is new territory.

others have been known to add viruses to simba, make sure you get the correct version and you will never get a virus, wizzup would never add anything bad

MSE has no false positives nor positives for simba, I just tried it on a fresh install of xp and MSE, you have something that is infecting it that is already on your computer

All I can say is if you think it is Wait for PowerBot.

many many other programs stay open in the background, on windows especially

I'd uninstall simba, scan, delete all viruses you find.. also get malwarebytes and scan / delete

reinstall simba

it does get false positives sometimes, because of its auto updating etc, just allow them in whatever gets a false positive

Worried about virusses? I understand.
Luckily there's an easy fix. Download the Simba source from github (https://github.com/MerlijnWajer/Simba/zipball/master), and install Lazarus + fpc (ftp://ftp.hu.freepascal.org/pub/lazarus/snapshots/Lazarus-0.9.30.1-33271-fpc-2.4.4-20111104-win32.exe). After installing, open Simba project (it's in projects\Simba), then compile it.
Tadaa, you made your own Simba, guaranteed virus free.

I think he has a virus that is infecting other executable.
So even if he compiles it himself it may be infected by this other virus.

@Dgby that's what I think too, hopefully malwarebytes picks that up it really should.. it's much better than other scanners

if he gets infected again he might need a reformat

if it is a more serious virus the last thing it'll pickup is a runescape pass though, doubt anyone cares about that.
