I like Runescape or mainly botting Runescape. I been planing and botting ,on and off, on the same char for almost 10 yrs. Of course, I have more char. I been around srl for awhile but kept quite for the most part. I explained in one of my post that I returned here because refection went down and the paid bots no longer worked. Was time to try my hand at scripting in scar again, I thought. I came here and started learning all the new stuff that came out and I think I got a good enough knowledge of that to request a membership status.

Please show us one (or multiple) of your scripts.
Too large for SIMBA tags

Please post the scripts using
tags in the application, it makes it easier for us to read and comment on it

E: Thanks, looking it over now....and lmfao that's the layout from my Guild Miney, haven't seen that in a while :)

First thing noticed...why do you have a whole procedure for logging in, when LoginPlayer does that for you. To me that shows a lack of understanding of a simple and vital SRL function.

E3: It's a no from me. You rewrote a lot of SRL Function, and part of the requirement for the script is "knowledge of the SRL Include". Also, you could be a little more active.

The All Potions Maker one is to big to post in Simba tags but I fixed the dl link.

I don't know why you use all this stuff you rewrote when all the SRL functions work fine for it. It doesn't really show skill to rewrite (poorly, sorry - lack of failsafes such as other login error messages).

This will also be triggered if anyone else on your world gets the random. It isn't just exclusive to you: if(FindChatBoxText('No… what?', 8, clBlue))then

Too tired to read the rest of the code but that's really silly how you rewrote quite a bit of the include such as logging in :p

I made my own because I kept have login issues from the SRL one. It would try logging me in with 'sUername', but with my real name. Been using my own login procedure for a long time. didn't know I HAD to use SRL for everything. Sometime I like mine better. A simple procedure for a simple task.

Even from back in the rscheatnet days when srl first came out I used my own stuff. If something breaks, I am more familiar with it, because I built it. Why is it such a crime to not use SRL functions and use my own? If it does what it suppose to do, what is the difference? And I did say I was an Intermediate scripter. Please don't be so quick to judge me and do some research on me to see I could be a valuable member to SRL. I'm learning fast and have a lot to contribute.

And a quote from Hobbit:

back on the topic of low post count…look at mine i got like 30 posts…but i've been here longer then some people who got like 500 posts….just cause people like me dont talk doesn't mean we aren't there or paying attention…i've read most of the posts on the forum. Another wise saying "Sometimes its better to be seen than herd";)

Oh, and these scripts are works in progress just to show you I know the basics. I have 2 open threads for them and I am upgrading them all the time.

I believe you know what you're doing. However, when applying for srl Membership it's generally a good idea to make use of the SRL include. ;)

I'm voting yes because I've seen you around for a while now and we need more generally knowledgeable members. Good luck with the rest of the votes. :)

Thank you. I guess I can build a script tomorrow that uses a lot of SRL stuff. Have you looked at the all potions maker. It makes every kind of potion in rs, cleans every herb, and more. It has alot of srl stuff. Like I said though it's a working progress. I'm ironing out the last of the bugs and adding progress reports and much much more. The list never ends. Lol. But I want this script to be epic. I'm already 99 herb, got it today. But I want to finish what I started, so I'm in this to the end; :D

Yes from me seen you around and tbh you seem to know what you are doing and could with a bit more knowledge be a good member to the SRL Members

If you gona vote no for me, please at least give a reason why. I think I have given enough proof that I would be a great addition to SRL. I think I at least deserve an explanation to why you feel I should not be an SRL member.

Voted no because you re-wrote a lot of the SRL include. Being an SRL Member shows you have knowledge of the include. I like your script, and I like your personality, but it just doesn't meet Member quality (IMO). Sorry.

Voted no because I don't find your code that well written. Small things like I'm very old-school programmer, so for instance I really don't like when you define functions in this way:

procedure This_Is_My_Function;

It should be

procedure ThisIsMyFunction();

The code itself is not readable. Very messy. Bad indenting. Bad naming convention. To me all that shows you have no general basic understanding over programming, hence no.

Sorry for being harsh.

I didn't realize how important it was to show my understanding and knowledge of SRL. I guess I should have, applying for A "SRL" membership and all. I already explained why I didn't use alot of SRL functions and used my own. But, I do understand what your saying tho. If I fail this round, which by the looks of it I will, I will submit a better SRL script next time. I do have a better understanding of SRL then you guy believe. I just like the idea of using my own stuff. One reason is, if an rs updates occurs and it breaks something. Users of my script don't have to wait for SRL to be fixed. I can go into it and fix it my self. I can do this with srl too, I know, but for the newbs that don't know much about scripting might have a hard time doing that. So by my reasoning, I figured my way was better for the users. Also I have a simplistic way of doing things and I believed it would be a good way for new scripters to learn from my script. But I do understand that submitting a script, lacking in SRL, to become a member of SRL was a bad idea.

Not being harsh at all. I asked for it. ;) I have an explanation tho for the Open_bank naming. When writing a script I sometimes come across a global variable or Name that is already being used by srl. For example. When I made a procedure to open the sw bank. I wanted to call it "OpenBank". I suppose I could have chosen OpenB, or OpenChest, or any other variation. I know that SRL already has a function named OpenBank, but sometime I run across one that I don't know about. So to save me time on have to go back and change dup identifiers, I use the "_" to add some uniqueness to it. This way there is no chance of dup identifiers. Maybe this is bad practice but you are the first in years of scripting to say so.

and about this part:
The code itself is not readable. Very messy. Bad indenting. Bad naming convention. To me all that shows you have no general basic understanding over programming, hence no.

I will admit this script needs alot of cleaning up. I'm only now just getting done with it. There are if statements where there should be case statements. There is whole functions that could be removed with changes to another, etc. This is stuff I all plain on doing in the near future. I basically threw this together as quick as I could. And test what works and what didn't, adding stuff , taking away, adding more, etc. Things got put in there that wasn't suppose to be or misplace, cause I was tired and it was 3 in the morning. Just stuff like that. I still can't figure out why my bmps are stacking. It uses the same variables to store bmps all through out the script. Depending on whats being made there should be at most 5 open bmps. So to sum it up I am aware this is far from a completed script. I just work alot and use all my free time to work on this script.

The indenting? What are you talking about I am using the Official Standard, I thought.
http://villavu.com/forum/showthread.php?t=3293&highlight=official

I am completely self taught, so please give me a little of a break. I am kinda of a loner and the rw friends I do got, have no interest in programming let alone computers. I didn't go to no school. Hell I didn't even graduate, I got my GED.

I only applied for a few reasons. One, I thought I might in someway get to help more and learn new things. Two, I'd like access to the black market because I figured that would be that safest place to buy rs gold. And three I plan on being here awhile(active), so I wanted to set up a avatar. I don't NEED SRL membership. I see it as SRL needs me. I script on my own just fine. I don't need to be a leacher. So what I'm saying is, there is no hard feelings and if I don't make it today there is always tomorrow.

It would be best if you posted the script that you hosted on MediaFire in
tags so we can read it. Most of us do not have the time to bother with downloading scripts.

Also I don't see how the quote of my post from over 5 years ago has any relevance?

It's to large. I was just using you quote about being active. I don't have a high post count but I been scripting awhile. I joined SRL forums over 5 yrs ago.

The poll has closed and you didn't quite make it this time. Please take the suggestions made here and read some more in the tutorial section and improve your script. You may reapply in 4 weeks time.
